what are your thoughts on this disaster?
You’re not a true fan unless you’ve watched it all the way through, and you must be sober. 😉
I have many times in the past while sober
Lemme guess: all your drunken hours are spent devising great new threads for this chat bored.
No actually i dont and never will drink

In 2005, my dad bought the special edition box set and I saw it for the first time.
what are your thoughts on this disaster?
Star Wars Holiday Special info: Wikipedia : Wookieepedia : IMDB : Lucasfilm : SKot’s SW Holiday Special website : VF article : Life Day
There are around 12 other OT•com threads for the 1978 Holiday Special in An Index & Help Thread for Beyond the Original Trilogy
were there any VHS releases without episode 4 a new hope in the opening?
I say it was the removal of the wolf guy, the SE color saturations, and CGI jabba. Jabba is here because we were supposed to build up suspense to see what jabba looked like in ROTJ but the surprise had to be ruined, right george?
No, they are awesome action packed rollercoasters, but not much more: they show that George isn’t that good as writer and a director.
I mean, the battles, the visuals -amazing. But the inter-personal actor stuff: cringing.
Up to a point where they do live up to the cheesy 30’s serials he is always on about:
E1 was basically cliffhanger to cliffhanger without any plot and E2 & E3 had cringy dialogues and actingBut they lacked something. Good dialogues and proper acting?
He should have Larry Kasdan co-write the scripts and have someone else direct the actors.
Like he did with ESB and ROTJ
This is what I meant.
Of course they aren’t terrible. They’re just terrible compared to the originals.
Thank you for understanding.
“If you look past how bad they are, they aren’t that bad.”
I said if you look past the mistakes INSIDE the movies, they aren’t that bad.
I myself disliked the prequels. But, recently I rewatched them and looked at them in a new light. I understand that the acting, script, some of the characters, and plot points are pretty terrible, however, if you try to look past all the issues and mistakes, you realize that they aren’t too terrible. I have friends who actually like them. what do you think?
Anyone got some ideas in there heads?
I know a lot of you will say the GOUT is the best answer but I’m curious how to make one or get another person’s own GOUT rip.
I watch the despecialized more than any other release. it is also my favorite. but sometimes i like to watch the SE. here’s a few reasons why: 1. I like pointing out the changes 2. I like seeing some difference back and forth, watch both at the same time and see the differences. 3. It just interests me. what do you do?
i have one too. they are good collectibles.
hayden’s ghost. maybe a new hope jabba
I would probably fix some dialogue issues and fix continuity.
i also like the new emperor head in esb
i kind of like some of the expanded shots
all i say is skip the prequels
i say star wars.
it’s on torrentz as well
just get a vhs to mp4 ripper machine and by the vhs.
i think the best ways you can go are the GOUT dvd, despecialized edition, vhs, laserdisc, and bootlegs. but the best of all are the despecialized editions. but if you want the best despecialized experience, watch out for which version you pick. there is v.1.0, v.1.5, and v.2.5. v.2.5 is the best way you can go. the other 2 are pretty okay, but v.2.5 has the most in quality, saturation, fixation , etc.
but the others aren’t bad either. i would choose the laserdisc over the GOUT dvd. mainly due to the fact there is no audio digital noise clean up motion smearing. and some are better than others. some are cheaper than the GOUT. the vhs is okay, too. depending on which one you get and it’s quality. so for me it is in order of despecialized edition v.2.5, laserdisc from 1995 and under, vhs from 1995 and under, and the GOUT dvd. but this is just my opinion.
