they’re highly derivative of your set and use many of the assets you’ve provided, so if you feel they’re too similar to your work, please let me know and I’ll happily take the links down.

I don’t presume to speak for phildesfr, but I think it’s highly likely that he’ll be fine with it.

You gave clear credit to him where credit was due when you posted the stuff you put together. Plus, the assets you used are ones he’s shared publicly.

In my humble opinion, it would seem you’re only doing what phildesfr was encouraging in the first place.

Exactly! I’m happy that the asset I shared are useful to many of you to design your own sets, so we can all materialize a more personal connection to these films.

Ah, the sweet recognition! My trilogy covers are being used by blu-ray.com for their listings of the yet-unreleased single-film edition of Star Wars, Empire, and Return!

That’s nice!

They all look wonderful. Is there any chance you can do a version of the despecialized editions with the poster art being reversed? I’d love to see TESB with this artwork on the cover: https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NLxOyEkRlgg/UBJ9cEmvW5I/AAAAAAAAKAc/eYGKwSo2cY0/s1600/Star+Wars+-+The+Empire+Strikes+Back+(1980)+Style+B+by+Tom+Jung.jpg

Hello HarveyPlissken,

sorry to answer so late, but I eventually took some time to work out and issue a set of 3 variations of the Trilogy blu-ray cover featuring Tom Jung’s posters, here they are :

The editable and printable PDFs have been added to my shared folder: http://mega.nz/#F!E1tVHZ4B!Jbegfsr8CGPvHKBZUX-yaw

Enjoy!

Ok, so are you saying that the Blu ray’s content will just play one after another? I’m just curious with how it will all work out in the end after the BD’s have been burned

No, only the film will play when the disc is launched, the extras are added as rom content, only accessible via browsing the folders and files on the disc, on a computer and maybe some blu-ray players.

“as well as textless artworks and logos, which you can download from thismega.nz link, along with the .torrent file for my BD isos:” this was taken from the front page. I went to his mega upload and got the torrent for his BD iso, but the problem was no one was seeding it.

Yes, my own ISOs, the one matching my covers, are still available via the .torrent in my mega share (here it is again:
https://mega.nz/#!49cCnZAA!RTiiwDy-vJ0gLc2Y0U6G7epKElYEg30EzspCgvFp2aw), and I’m currently seeding it, you can try it.
The only thing is that my ISOs don’t have blu-ray menus, the film plays directly. I compiled and added some extras as BD-ROM content, accessible via file browsing.

Hello again phildesfr,

I’ve found a near-by print shop that is willing to print Episodes 4-6 of these for me professionally and give a bit of a discount if they don’t have to do any image prepping.

So I have a couple of things to ask. First, is there any size adjustment or specification that I would need to do or indicate, if I give them the following PDF file from your folder to print:

“StarWarsTrilogyDesp_inserts_recto”

I know the finished product needs to be 10 7/16" wide and 5 13/16" tall to fit a standard blu-ray case, but do I need to give them those numbers or perhaps adjust the images to account for the bleed?

Secondly, I have a favor to ask. Would it be to much to request a version of those covers, but with a black bar on the spine behind the logos instead of an extension of the cover image? I feel like it might balance the cover a little better. I’ve messed around with your asset files, but I cant quite seem to get it right.

But even if you don’t want to bother with the second request, any help you would be willing to provide would be welcome!

Hello Solkap,

sorry I didn’t visit this thread recenlty. The inserts have a 3 mm (0.12 in) bleed, and once cut out are 269 mm (10.6 in) by 149 mm (5.87 in) tall.

I also made a “black spine” version of the Trilogy inserts, you’ll find the pdf in the shared folder : https://mega.nz/#F!E1tVHZ4B!Jbegfsr8CGPvHKBZUX-yaw
Hope this suits you.

Hi phildesfr,

The designs you’re producing are amazing!

A Few questions for you and for anyone else reading.

To phildesfr: What photo editing software you are using?

To anyone: Is there a free photo editing program that will recognize the logos saved as eps image files in phildesfr’s assets?

and

Can anyone recommend a free way to crop images so they can be used for disc art (i.e. circular picture crop with properly sized and centered circle cropped from the middle as well)?

Hi Solkap,
glad you liked my set!

As a freelance graphic artist, I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (which sadly aren’t free, although easily available as cracked versions).

The obvious (and well-famed) free alternative to both would be Gimp, Paint.NET, and I also read good things about Inkscape and Gravit. Apparently, all of these can use the .EPS file format, natively or with a plugin at worst.

The editable PDFs should be editable with Adobe Acrobat DC (not the free version either), I never tested them on any other free PDF-editing software.

As for a software specifically for designing disc labels, Canon’s free CD-LabelPrint is apparently very well-made.

Thanks phildesfr, everything’s awesome as usual. I noticed a few tiny errors here and there, hope you don’t mind me making some suggestions.

  • Copyright dates should probably be updated from 2016 to 2017
  • TFA Copyright date should be 2015-2017
  • Rogue One Copyright date should be 2016-2017
  • ‘Concept Arts’ should probably be ‘Concept Art’ (drop the S)
  • Bottom text is missing an ‘and’ where it says: “Dolby” the double-D logo
  • In the AOTC text, ‘including’ is misspelled as 'incluing’
And it looks like there’s an extra space between ‘meant to be’ and ‘seen’
  • ROTS text should probably say ‘CLONE WARS’ instead of ‘CLONE WAR’ (not sure)
Also there’s a typo where it says ‘final chapter is’ instead of ‘final chapter in’

Of course your designs are really awesome just how they are. Thanks again, I appreciate you sharing your great creations.

Thanks for your keen eye, Depheros! Always surprising to see how many obvious typos remain after countless checking 😃.
I have made the modifications, along with some others tweaks. I’ll be uploading the corrected files shortly.
