Takes me back to those terrible 90’s UK VHS anti-piracy adverts 😃

Oh god, I’m having flashbacks to that terrible guitar sound! I swear, then and now, that piracy warnings are designed to punish you for buying the genuine article 😉

Those anti-piracy adverts likely drove more people to pirated copies than anything else - just so they wouldn’t have to stomach the cringe-filled ‘FACT’ adverts (and 20 mins of bad adverts for others films and tv) 😉

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnLVyNB52R8

Maybe they should have read something like…

‘We’ll let the UK Govt do the funding of terrorism thank you very much through £billion arms deals to countries known to fund terrorism - not you plebs with your £3 dodgy copy of Rambo 2 from Bob down the market. Now carry on buying this vastly overpriced format so we can link ‘Bob down the market’ to genuine terrorists and we get to keep making shite adverts and very cushty jobs working for FACT. Thanks. Here’s some awful guitar sounds from Dave in IT (he also does weddings)…’

😉

Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage is a “person of interest” in the U.S. investigation into possible collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, the Guardian reported on Thursday citing unidentified sources.

The London-based newspaper said Farage had not been accused of wrongdoing and was not a suspect or target of the U.S. investigation. But it said he was “right in the middle” of the relationships being looked at.

The newspaper said the former leader of the UK Independence Party had “raised the interest” of FBI investigators due to his connections with Trump and Julian Assange’s Wikileaks, which published leaked emails from the Democratic National Committee during the campaign.

Hope they do find some dirt on him (whether it be long rumoured ties to Russian backed-funds etc) - unfortunately he’s played the game so long (as a former banker, former Tory elite etc) he’ll have likely hidden any ties and money quite deep…

Here’s one I did of Luke Skywalker and Leia from the Vanity Fair shoot. I thought the picture would look better if her eyes were closed, so I experimented with the photo and came up with this. Let me know what you think. I mean no disrespect, and I hope I didn’t over step the boundaries here.

Really liked what you did there mate - somehow your picture does put them both in a more peaceful - and ‘closer’ (for want of a better word) look.

Altering people’s eyes seems to be quite technical/difficult look to get right based on other people’s struggles on their projects - so nice one on your work 😃

some quality work you’ve done mate - love the slightly different tweaks you’ve done along the way too - the more possibilities, otions and choices the better 😃

and also the choice of the '92 boxset for the box itself 😃

Keep up the quality work - hope you don’t mind, I’ve added your boxset to the ‘3-in-1 and boxset covers’ thread, here - http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/A-list-of-Box-Sets-and-3-in-1-Trilogy-covers-by-otcom-users/id/53673

Any interest in professionally made box sets for Despecialized?

I am very tempted by the idea of professional looking Media. But it also feels wrong to allow consumerism the be tacked on to something that starts out so free.

It’s sort of like Harmy applied a copy-left license to despecialized, and it applies to all derivative products as well. So having anyone contribute in a commercial way violates that.

That’s just my thoughts. Of course Harmy didn’t apply a copy-left license to despecialized. And I don’t think this actually violates anything in the letter of the law. But for me, I think it does violate the spirit of the law.

Thanks for the insight. I had not looked at it that way. If the majority of the community feels likewise, I will tell my contact that the project is a no-go and ask that the thread be locked. So if others feel that this violates the spirit of the project, please let me know here or via PM and I will take appropriate action. Thanks!

And as far as those people who may still want to purchase something like this from this individual directly, you may be all means contact him and conduct your own private transaction.

So community, what say you?

I think it’s a great idea you are doing here mate - and hope it comes off and does well - and yes, I’d be interested too 😃

Yet I also see where Dhamage is coming from and agree with it too… plus half the fun is knocking up your own stuff at times - no matter had bad it may be at first (I’m referring to my stuff here 😉) and then trying to improve upon it.

It may be an idea to get ‘the ok’ from Harmy? - or njvc too IF the boxes/and covers etc will feature some of his work as well?

Good luck with it mate - again, it’s just my two penneth, but think this is a great idea, nice one!

edit - ps, like darthrush says above - I don’t we should be paying for the films themselves, just paying for the boxes, covers and slipcovers and postcards etc

pps - those are truly beautiful looking sets you posted mate 😃

A fanditor cannot shoot new scenes and change the script, so no faneditor can change the fondamental issues and flaws of the PT, TFA and even ROTJ.

The Prequels are, in the main, beyond hope - though made better (to some extent - it’s mainly subjective) by some very talented Fan Editors out there…

As for shooting new scenes, and possibly adapting the script… [coughs…] Adywan [coughs…]

Though not actually shooting new scenes - but did add dialogue from other films or material, or recorded new or modulated dialogue - the ADigitalMan Edits and MagnoliaFan Edits accomplished that 12-15 years ago (likely some others too).

Hal9000, DigiMod & Sir Ridley have done (or are doing) some intriguing work on TFA - amongst other Fan Editors… yet most are seemingly only slight changes or personal preferences…

eldusto84 did some interesting work on R1 too, changing the the fundamental feel of the movie (whether good, bad or indifferent - again, all subjective), through centreing the focus on the more action-orientated last third of the movie.
