Am I a Bully?
Time

SilverWook said:

I’m just glad the internet wasn’t a thing when I was a kid. The most high tech thing bullies could exploit was a telephone.

As we saw in the 1996 film Scream, cell phones led to some intense bullying.

In all seriousness, I’m glad I didn’t go through middle school with the internet too. Even telephones could be shut down pretty quick since a parent would usually overhear, or even answer the phone.

Why did you go from thinking that TDK was the best movie ever to being the worst motion picture ever?

Were you referring to me?

Yea, hath God said?

I was being hipster. I’ve changed my mind after re-watching it last night. I now give it an 8. But I never referred to it as a bad film. I gave it 6.

That’s fair. I hear six and I just picture a 60%. A D- at best.

MUST each Star Wars Ep. have to have...?
Time

It’s successors, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, just tacked on the original style gunbarrel to the end of the movie, which was rather pointless.

Don’t even get me started on that.

When I saw the trailer for TFA where Rey pulled back that small curtain at the beginning, I thought that perhaps that could be the beginning of the movie. The crawl finished and the star field turned out to not be a field of stars at all. I do prefer what we ended up with to that idea though, as the opening Jakku village scene was perhaps the best part of the whole movie.

I don’t think, especially given how they’re running the ST so far, that they’ll ever stray away from the series’ traditions.

what he’s dead?

No, but here’s a quote on why he left:

"Now, I was dreaming when I wrote this, so forgive me if it goes astray, but when I woke up this morning I could’ve sworn that it was judgement day. The sky was all purple; there were people running everywhere. They were trying to run from the destruction, and you know I just didn’t even care. I say, 2000 zero zero, party over, oops, out of time. So, tonight I’m going to party like it’s 1999.

Again, I was dreaming when I wrote this, so sue me if I go to fast, but life was just and party and parties weren’t meant to last. The war was all around us, my mind said prepare to fight. So if I have to die, I’m going to listen to my body tonight."

Make of that what you will. I personally didn’t quite understand it, but I guess it makes sense.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

Very neat! I tracked down a texture pack for either Duke Nukem 3d or Doom quite some time ago. It was very similar. I tend to play the original graphics though, being the nostalgic old fool that I am. As much as I love seeing updated graphics, I love playing the old ones; I did this with the Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2 remasters, as well as even Mario All Stars, which was awesome but just didn’t quite beat the originals. Again, this is all purely motivated out of nostalgia for me.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

I find it kind of ridiculous that Jabba would launch the pod races and watch them live. Maybe if it were some kind of galactic championship, but not some random boring race. Also, why sit in the stands and watch it live? I don’t recall there being any big-screens stationed in view of the audience. I guess you just sit there and watch them come around three times.
