I just do not get the infatuation with steelbooks. I’ve got one or two because that was the only (or cheapest) option when I bought a movie. And they’re fine. I mean, it does it’s job as a case and protects the disc. It looks… fine? I don’t particularly like it more or less than the look of a plastic case.
But to ask me to pay extra just for the steel book package? Not a chance. And the insane after market prices to which some of them skyrocket. It boggles my mind.
I mean, really. Honest question. What IS it about steelbooks that people love SOOOO much that they sell out in a day or rise dramatically in price when you can get the same exact disc in a regular case for a normal price?
I like that its metal, a bit sturdier than the flimsy cases they have now, and the exclusivity factor. Also most Steelbooks hold their value far better than the ordinary releases.

I was thinking that the Last Jedi has the same issue Return of the Jedi has. The parts dealing with the Force and the Skywalkers are amazing, but it does leave the other characters a bit out of the loop. Rian tried to give Finn and Poe more to do than Han and Leia in ROTJ.
They even snuck a Cheers reference into his CCG card back in the 90’s.
With all the reboots/relaunches lately I half expect a Cheers one sometime.
Nice, I always enjoyed the Thrawn trilogy. Will definitely keep a lookout for good deals on the X-wing novels. I know they reprinted them with the legends banner, but I want to get original soft cover copies in decent shape. I always thought they had beautiful cover art and the legends reprints kinda ruin it a bit by cropping it and slapping that ugly banner across it.
So does anyone know how the related X-Wing Rogue Squadron comic series from Dark Horse holds up? For the same reasons as the novels, I’m looking at buying up the comics. However, unlike the novels, I’ve never read a single issue of the X-wing comics. I liked some of the other Star Wars comics Dark Horse put out back then so I’m guessing I’d enjoy this series too.
The comics were written by Michael A Stackpole, so they are very good. The comics take place before the first of the novels.
This is again under the assumption that lightspeed ramming turns things to swiss cheese or whatever. But the way it’s depicted in the film it doesn’t seem like the lightspeed is necessarily the most important element to what would be massive destruction from the collision anyway. Why didn’t the Naboo fighters lightspeed kamikaze? Well why didn’t they just plain old kamikaze? Surely that’d cause some serious damage too.
Because to kamikaze is a last resort. Holdo was desperate to see the mission through. The transports couldn’t go back to the Raddus. They were being take down one by one. Also the Raddus is huge: 3,438.37 meters. That’s bigger than Home One from Jedi.

They are popular though. The Rogue One steelbook sold out day of release in a lot of places and The Last Jedi one is find in store only. I will preorder the Solo one ASAP.
I watch it on YouTube all the time. Bea Arthur is great. It’s definitely better than the prequels and special editions. No, that’s not hyperbole. There is nothing in the Holiday Special worse than jar-jar or that Jedi rocks musical crap.
I agree the Bea Arthur is good in it. I like the cartoon and Jefferson Starship too. I probably like it better than AOTC and ROTS though they are hard to compare. I do think TPM is better than the Holiday Special, but that’s because Holiday Special is so bad no because TPM is good.
The Bea Arthur scene was directed by a different director than most of the other stuff. He was a schoolmate of Lucas, who he picked to do it. After he did that segment there was issues with the “writers” and he was let go.
I love the Boba Fett cartoon and its in my canon.

I mean, I get your DC point lovelike, and agree with it, but that’s your issue with Marvel? I don’t think that’s what backfired on them. Constant renumberings and big dumb events, sure, but superheroes are, by definition, warriors of social justice.
They had some really heavy-handed Social Justice pandering in some books. It all fell flat.
They can’t survive on aging comic book fans forever. Without fresh blood, they are doomed.
Marvel tried jumping on the Social Justice bandwagon. It backfired on them.
DC tried the Nu52. It backfired on them.
At this point, the comics only exist as material to mine for the movies and TV shows.

Has anyone read the X-Wing novel series by Stackpole? I had the first one (Rogue Squadron) in middle school and remember loving it. With Rogue One sparking my nostalgia for quality 90’s EU I’ve been seriously thinking about snagging the whole series. I’d have already re-read the first novel if it weren’t for the fact that I loaned it to a friend back then and he lost it 😦
The X-Wing books are good. That and the Zahn books are the best of the Bantam era.
The Prequels have huge flaws that make the first two basically pointless.
Also I’m sorry but General Grievous is dumb. Should have been Maul with cyber-legs. Imagine the duel from Rebels after Obi-Wan chases Maul through Utapau. Would have been an epic scene that ranks up with Yoda lifting the X-Wing. But no, more flippy duels and overlong lightsaber fights.

Did anyone read the Han Solo or Chewbacca miniseries? I want to check those out, should I just get them through the library? Or are they worth a purchase?
I think banter between an actor and director, (playful or otherwise) far removed from the set of the film goes a bit beyond the realm of critique and discussion of the actual film here.
Some fans are so eager now to paint RJ as this horrible monster who took a steamer on Star Wars, they will latch onto anything to support that argument. I fully expect RJ to be accused of indirectly causing Carrie Fisher’s death if this keeps up. 😕
