Info: Recommended Editions of Disney Animated (and Partially Animated) Features

I have one other request, please.

I really wish I could have all of the bonus features that are exclusive to the Deluxe CAV laserdiscs for Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros, The Lion King, Pocahontas, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I don't want to spend so much money for a laserdisc player just so I can watch these bonuses. If anyone has these laserdiscs on hand, could they please record and upload them on YouTube or any similar site?

I'm working on something for Lion King. If I can get some good test results, I'll announce it. But I can do a transfer of the bonus features regardless. Thankfully, I just got a CLD-D703 so the results should be top notch.

Just picked up some LDs today at Savers. Toy Story, Lion King, Fantasia, and Aladdin. Save for Aladdin, all of these were the Deluxe sets. Everything is virtually immaculate, with the Former two having the shrink Wrap still on!

I know the OP still mentions wanting a Lion King LD preservation done. Would anyone be up for transferring some of these? I'm down for shipping them to someone in the Continental USA. I would, but I don't own a LD player and it would probably be cheaper to send them to someone rather than me buying one right now.

The Matrix 35mm (Released)
Time

I'd be interested in seeing a 35mm transfer as well. I don't think anyone has noted this, but isn't there a crew member on screen in the scene where Neo gets the cell phone near the beginning? I think it was only featured on the 1st press VHS before being recalled and edited out of every other copy. Though this might be because the VHS was full frame vs. Widescreen.

There might be some other goofs as well that were edited out of the film during Home Video conversion.

Apocalypse Now - Workprint (now available) (Released)
Time

Just found the 3-Disc DVD on youknowwhat. Can't believe it's finally liberated. Thanks to everyone!

Anyways, I just saw the film all the way through for the first time the other day. After watching it, I was jonesin to watch some of the Workprint. Tried to find my old 4-Disc 700mb avi copy and realized it's either gone on a bad HDD or with my other HDDs in Utah. Does anyone know where I can the old rip of it or at least the Rite of Spring USO segment? It used to be on Youtube. Does the mp4 rip on youknowwhat have it?

IMDB Wrote:

On 8 January 1999, Disney issued a recall of 3.4 million copies of the home video version because two frames included an "objectionable background image", probably inserted without permission during production as an in-joke. The offending frames appear in a scene featuring a pan across an apartment: in one of the apartment windows, a picture of a topless woman can be glimpsed. This scene was intact for the original theatrical release in 1977. However, it was not in the 1992 video version because that was "made from a different print" according to a Disney spokesperson.

I assume some prints had these controversial frames. And the '99 release used one of these prints. I guess there was a LD release along side the VHS release.

Doctor M, I was thinking about this last night. Have you taken in account the topless woman controversy into consideration when finding a purist version of The Rescuers? I know it's an extremely minor point, but I think it's worth pointing out.

I know when Disney released it on Home Video for the second time, they caught the frames and recalled the VHS. I don't think the frame was in the first DVD release.

hate to bump this up, but I've noticed that the reel changes for the first half of the "Z" copy aren't up on :F:L:I:M:S:I:P:L:A:S:T: :D:A:T:A:B:A:S:E:

Here they are. I used Video Collector's combined mpg file. That'll go up on MySpleen once their server troubles are sorted.

One thing to note is I couldn't get the second reel change for 3-4 due to the picture quality. Sorry.

So Video Collector sent me a copy of his Z version a few weeks back. Good news is that it's full. Bad news (if you want to call it that) is that he combined the two mpg files into one. Quality is the same as the VCD circulating on a.b.starwars.

If you want a specific screen capture, just ask.

Here's some thumbnails to tide you over until the upload finishes.

So I contacted Fritz (Video Collector) and he is sending me a copy of the full "Z" version. He merged the two VCD's to a single MPEG file. It'll be more complete than the version that is currently up on a.b.starwars.

I'll update once I get the disc with it.

None, I know you'll probably want a copy of it. PM on how you want me to upload it.
