Grand Theft Auto radio adverts compilation
Time

For Vice City there were singular CD releases for each station with a few of the songs and 2 or 3 adverts along with some dialogue by the station DJ. I think they did similar for San Andreas.

However, if you own the PC versions of the games there are programs to extract/convert the radio stations. I remember compiling my own for the original GTA3 and VC. Furthermore, rips of the adverts are available around the net in torrents. Vice City and San Andreas anyway. Not sure about GTA4. Try Demonoid.

Help Wanted: from UK Members - Retro Gamer Magazine Issue 54 - NEED SCANS!
Time

Hi guys,

The UK magazine Retro Gamer has a feature in its latest issue on the making of Indiana Joes and the Fate of Atlantis. I was hoping a kind soul could buy it and scan these pages. I wouldn’t mind paying to have the magazine sent my way I suppose, but I live in Australia.

I’m by no means declaring myself as the leader of an Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis project… but I reckon this needs to be bought and scanned before it disappears from the shelves. I’d love to scan this at a decent resolution and put the files aside until work starts on an IJ&FoA project. I’ll see if I have anything (my official copy is long gone 😦 I still remember the big thick hint book that came with it).

Laserschwert’s soundtrack covers/music and high-res poster-like version of the boxart are already in their own folder for this. I’d love to take on this task when I get some time in a month or so. I’d REALLY appreciate scans of this magazine though. Contact me if you can help I guess. Thanks in advance. 😃

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
Was funny this afternoon I was reading about Supanova (a convention here in Australia). Some of the guests include:

* Ronald Falk (Dexter Jettster)
* Anthony Phelan (Lama Su)
* Matt Doran (Elan Sleazebaggano)

The first thought that came to my head was: those are all characters who have had their scenes trimmed/cut or re-voiced in SOTDS. ;)

The other guest was Daniel Logan (Young Boba Fett), but he's dropped out. A shame since he also fit the above category. It's now:

* Nalini Krishnan (Barris Offee, Padawan Learner to Jedi Master Luminara Unduli)

In any case, I laughed when I checked the forum and found this thread to be updated for the first time in a while. It was an odd coincidence. Thought I'd share. :)

Incidentally, Trooperman, I look forward to the day I can put this in my player and check it out. Good luck with all the real-life stuff though. Glad to see you're putting that first.

Yeah, BigFood, I'll zip up the front image for you and send it through. You can change the "Pure Extended Content" to the font you're using on the back I guess.

As for the quotation marks, yes they should be on top on both sides and look like small 66 and 99's. Apart from that I think the cover's done. We don't need anything else on it I don't think. Expect an email from me with the attachment. Don't worry about the dimensions - I'm more active in the custom cover community than I am here on OT. ;)

BigFood, that looks great. Better than I thought it would. :)

If you send me the psd and/or a HQ jpg file of that back/spine at full-res I'll combine it with my cover. Only thing is, can we do anything with the dead space at the top? Perhaps but the card I did for the front cover there? I dunno, just looks empty.

I want to get the cover done so we push mcfly89 to release this! It's been ages since I watched Pet Detective (I recently re-watched When Nature Calls and have been playing the score to that film in the background when I was working on the DVD cover).

Info Wanted: Is the RAIDERS soundtrack CD OOP?
Time
Where I work the CD manager recently told me about the latest batch of soundtracks being released and those suggested as tie-ins to other sales or whatever. She's great in making sure I don't spend too much of my CD money on imports :P

Anyway, she brought up Indiana Jones. I assumed she was talking about KotCS, but also on the sheet was the "Trilogy". I said yes to that in addition to KotCS, thinking it'd be a well-timed re-release boxset... unfortunately it's the trilogy re-rerecordings disc. :(

No biggie, I don't mind giving re-recordings a go every now and then. I haven't listened to that one yet but I did ask her to let me know if any info popped up about a re-release of the original scores. Nothing yet, so I checked just now.

Soundtrack.Net, a reliable site, has an article you can read here. The important part being:

"This fall, Concord Music Group will also reissue the soundtracks to the original Indiana Jones trilogy, which have been out of print for nearly a decade, as part of a four-CD boxed set."

That was music to my ears. I imagine this will either be 1-disc OSTs for each film and a disc of unreleased bonus material, or one of the films will take two discs. While not a definitive 5/6-disc CD set like I was hoping for, having the chance to own these on CD is wonderful. I'll be snapping this box up for sure.

BigFood, do you intend to:
* do your own front too (ie, a whole cover of your own)
* convert the retail by adding this spine and back to the retail front
* combine my front cover with your back cover (a joint production i guess)

I just like that layout and with all the things that are going on I'm finding it hard to get the time and creativity I need to work on my back cover.

Help: looking for... documentaries for Poltergeist
Time
Wow. This thread is OLD.

I don't know where you'd find the disc... i don't even know if there is a disc per se. As I said long ago, the best thing to do would be compile it all onto a supplemental disc (with nothing overlapping on the barebones so-called 'special edition'). Like so:

* E! True Hollywood Story Documentary (2hrs approx)
* "Making of" Featurette (7mins, from LD)
* 2 Trailers (from LD)
* Stills Gallery (from LD)

No?

You're an Aussie, Uncanny Antman, yeah? .... or a Kiwi? Just, listing all those R4s made me think you are. Have we traded in the past?

Plus, I can't believe I didn't mention American Werewolf in Paris as that was one of the earlier ones I discovered was different/better here. Still need to get a copy of the R1 for my girlfriend. She owns the R4 I bought her and has the original cut on VHS alongside it.

Sorry for the double-post! Just wanted to point out I recently started a blog to put some of my useless DVD knowledge on the web. While it's geared at Aussie DVD enthusiasts, which titles are worth importing, faulty product, etc... Well, there's nothing there yet, but it will be like that... anyway, I thought I'd link it. Hopefully this discussion encourages me to do more posts (very busy at the moment though unfortunately).

The blog can be found here: The DVD Fanatic. If anyone has any ideas about what I should post, let me know. Especially if any of our Australian OT'ers are reading this thread. If you're knowledgeable about blog templates and could help me with mine, please email me (see sig).

My major thing is custom DVDs. That's why you don't see any Klokwerk edits, only custom covers. Only other thing I do is custom DVDs. I buy from all over the place to get the best copies of the films I want to own.

In my opinion, a DVD should have the definitive version of the film in the best quality with the most informative extras. I've compiled many, many custom discs for myself over the years (R4 Australia got shafted a lot in the early days). I would love to keep this discussion going to find some titles and things I am as yet unaware of being available.

I'll give some info on some titles now, will do some more at a later date. Here's some titles worth looking at the R4 Australian release for and why. Note, I don't have all of these, but I work in the DVD department of an entertainment store and through that and my own research online I know a lot...

TMNT (2007)
The DVD-retailer exclusive 2-disc set has the same extras as the 2-disc set elsewhere in the world, however the R4 AU is the only one that doesn't force the commentary on you. You are able to listen to the original audio.

Timecop (1994)
Magna Pacific's R4 AU release is the only one I'm aware of that has DTS sound and the original 2.35:1 ratio, anamorphically enhanced of course.

Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The 13th (2000)
A commentary track not found elsewhere and is anamorphic.

Prom Night III (1989)
Uncut version of the film. The UK/US releases are the "tv edit" version which removes I think 5 minutes of stuff.

Mr. Holland's Opus (1995)
Original 2.35:1 ratio, anamorphic, 5.1 DD sound.

Heaven's Gate (1980)
Same extended cut as US DVD but it's anamorphic.

3000 Miles To Graceland (2001)
Has a bonus 11 minute featurette.

Transformers: Beast Wars - Seasons 1-3 (1996-1999)
Doesn't have 5.1 sound like the US releases, but we do get tons of exclusive extras: commentaries, animatics, galleries, etc. Madman pulled out all the stops on these sets. Love 'em.

Lilo & Stitch (2002)
We had the best release for the longest time. 2-disc Special Edition. Uncut, DTS, audio commentary and the 2-hr documentary with footnotes. I believe this has finally been released in R1 US though. The R1, original release at least, had a "Young Voices Of Hawaii" featurette not on any other release. Whereas the R2 UK includes a music video "Suspicious Minds" by Gareth Gates.

I'll get in now and add that I use several sites to compare picture quality, differing cuts, sets of extras and general R1 vs R2 vs R4 etc. The major one to reveal for those that don't already know it: Rewind's DVD Compare. Godsend for this stuff.

Thanks. I'm finally happy with the business card. You have no idea how much of a pain getting that Heinz Gezwellwert to fit was, and in that specific sort of arched shape too.

More painful than that was the dolphin image. It took so long to find one that suited the position/angle of the dog from the original poster.

Anyway, I'll work on it some more soon. If you have a blurb for the back cover or specs and stuff specific to this edit (screencaps?) that you want me to use, then I can start work on the back. :)

Well, I've got a little preview here of my cover. It's not finished, and yes there are two different ideas as for how to display the fact that it's an 'extended' cut. Any input would be great. Ignore the back (just a scan of the R1 cover), it's the text on the card and the dolphin you need to pay attention to, I think.

Here's a little 3d preview for the people who like these:
