What about the theatrical prequels and the 120 minute imax cut of AotC?

That AOTC IMAX cut (Burtt edited it himself, correct?) is like the holy grail. Many have tried to replicate it, so far as I can tell none have figured out how to get it exactly right. I’d love to see it again - I only saw it the once, almost 20 years ago now, and would love to check it out again.

Oh, would love to see that cut again too.

Here you go, my friend: http://www.figmentfly.com/published/legendarticle.html

That's from the original author, so it's the fully uncut version of the article; i.e., no magazine editing.

He also has shot-by-shot breakdowns for each cut!

Enjoy!

Thanks a ton for this link, does anyone know how to make a pdf file of this with image if possible for offline viewing?

 I made a quick version here....  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6966638/Fairy%20Dust%20_%20Reconstructing%20LEGEND%20by%20Sean%20Murphy.pdf

Blackhat SEO - detected with virus protection when visiting site
Time

Admins,

FYI... I got a warning from my virus protection referring to "Blackhat SEO" detected on this site (at least on the main originaltrilogy.com url).

I am clueless about these things, but wanted to pass on the info

Some links I was able to pull on a little information:

Just the thing for when you can't make it to a unichapel...

So, anything else going on? Haven't heard back from the people who had that other print. Not sure if I'm being ignored by them.

I think I have that from when I tried to go see the re-release in the theater, but they listed the wrong times so when I showed up it had already been running for 30 min or so. They gave me the pin as I was walking away. If I can find it I'll try to "play" the audio from it and record it.

All the CBS/FOX video releases in the U.S. used Style B. Style A did turn up as the back cover of the UK LD.

The Japanese VHD format did use Style A for the front.

Cool info.

One thing I always like about Style A was that it used a blue lightsaber. Which, when I was a kid, was a great surprise once we saw Luke light a green saber when we first saw ROTJ. Now days, it's somewhat hard to avoid little spoilers like that online for new films or tv shows.

The Revenge poster is perfect for the back cover. Never seen that variant of the 1985 poster art before. I think these two are more iconic though...

I don't know if textless versions are out there.

Can't recall if Style A was ever used for a VHS or LD release. I think that would be a cool choice for the front cover. I really do like Style B as well.

Did you ever happen to spot those veritcal ghosting lines in your original data/encode? Just curious.

OH, yes... here is the order of operations:

1. uncompressed original capture - they aren't there.
2. uncompressed color-corrected files (from Adywan) - they aren't there.
3. uncompressed upper-right spec removal - they aren't there
4. uncompressed resize/border addition - looks like they appear first here
5. compressed encoding for DVD - they are there

So they appear to be an artifact of resizing and adding the border.  Since I did both of those in a single step (in Vegas), I don't know whether the resizing or the border addition caused it, but it is probably one of those two operations.

That is great news they are not in your original capture and steps 2 and 3. Any chance you may redo 4 and 5 in another fashion to see if they can be eliminated?

It is still fun to watch no matter if this if final or not.

Thanks again Puggo

VHS Preservation - How to Get Best Quality?
Time

I may get a stand alone DVD recorder, such as the one mentioned above. but if I was wanting to hook up my existing VCR, LD, or 8mm video camera to my PC or MAC, does anyone have any recommendations for hardware to connect those units to my PC or MAC? I am sure the cheap devices are cheap in quality and built poorly. Then the high end sometimes seems like over kill. I am mainly looking to back up some old VHS and transfer some old home videos.

Some examples from amazon that I have looked at:

Elgato Video Capture Device 10020840 - $85.00

Diamond VC500 One Touch Video Capture Device - $36.00

From Newegg:

KWorld DVD Maker USB 2.0 VS- USB2800 USB 2.0 Interface - $30
