That's it! My quality is about the same unfortunately. My rarities disc is different. I'll have to check out what's on it.

Jay, on a different note, you wouldn't have a copy of the r2 and c3po anti-smoking commercial hidden amoungst your collection would you? Or does anyone else know where this can be found, as its something i've been dying to see, but am having a tough time tracking it down.

YES I've got this clip. I believe it's on my Holiday Special DVD. I may have it elsewhere too. I'll try to get this captured for ya. Right now I'm in the middle of rebuilding my computer so that's put my VHS captures on hold for a few days. But I should finish that up tonight and start capturing ASAP.

Idea & Info: Return of the Ewok - on Hyperspace
Time

I was wondering if anyone was planning on putting this to DVD. This is a short movie that Warrwick Davis filmed while making Jedi (then still called Revenge of the Jedi) Features characters and sets from Jedi and is really cool. I got to see it at C3 and now Star Wars.com has offered it’s hyperspace members a chance to download it. I haven’t yet, but plan on it. This would make a great addition to a Jedi Comp disk!

Is this crawl letterboxed or squeezed to fit the tv frame? Just curious...

Yeah I have tons of SW commercials, some good quality, some not so good, and it would be cool to get them all on DVD. Including what's currently out now. Maybe we can compare notes and see what we can come up with.

Yes that's the interview! Mark has a really bad greasy hairdo in it as well. I'd like to get a copy of that DVD if it's torrented, there are 3 rarities dvds that I'm currently DLing. Not sure this is one of them. What's the quality?

As for the Aid scene, apparently it's in the movie, I just never caught the line about sector 47 before, I thought all of the aid's lines were cut from the movie. The clip is in that interview if you have it in it's entirety.

I'll keep searching my tapes and let you all know if I find anything of interest. It sounds like a lot of what I have may allready be on DVD or is currently in the works.

I figured with all of your keen ears. (would've never noticed all the audio differences in music, effects etc, and I'm a musician. ) That someone would have picked up on the Han line.

As for the opening crawl, It is in it's entirety. The quality isn't that great, but it's just washed out and can hopefully be fixed when capturing/authoring it. I'm not sure where it came from or what the source is, I've been collecting SW vids for about 10 years now and I never kept track of who I traded what with to my regret. I do know that it's not something that was created on computer because at the time I acquired it, that sort of technology wasn't available to the public.

Anyway, I'll try to capture these items tonight and maybe send it out to you guys. My overall goal is to capter all of my Star Wars footage and compile it to DVDs in some sort of orderly fashion. Ex: Star Wars era stuff all together, Empire stuff all together, Jedi Stuff all together, then the Special Edition stuff, etc. That way Each Movie has it's own DVD(s) compilation of hype and specials from that era. The Special Editions can be grouped together since they were released back to back. So any help would be great! It would take me forever to do on my own.

Another project would be to compile as many Star Wars Related commercials into a DVD. Everyone has a copy of the original Kenner Commercials but there's also micor machines, C3P0 cerial, Power of the Force toys, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Doritos etc.

Hello Gang,

Well I’m going through my SW video collection and I found a tape with some interesting clips. 1clip is the original SW Opening Crawl without EpisodeIV A New Hope. Another segment is a PM Magazine special that was run on Return of the Jedi. This shows a clip that I believe is deleted from Jedi, it’s a very small clip about 5 seconds but it features Admiral Akbar and his aid. His aid has a line of dialogue right before Akbar says “It’s a trap!”. If I’m not mistaken, the aid never had any dialogue in the released version of Jedi is this correct? It was 3:00am when I found this so I didn’t go back and check my actual Jedi videos. But I’m remembering that the Akbar “It’s a trap!” line was in response to what Lando was saying NOT an aid. Also on this special is an interesting interview with Mark Hamill where they confirm 9 movies and Mark talks about how he and Lucas are in discussion of a Mark/Luke’s role in the SEQUIL trilogy. Very interesting, this is the only interview I that I know of where someone actually talks about the 3 trilogies, (other than in print, which isn’t nearly as reliable)

Also, I was wondering if anyone else has every caught this. I remember as a kid watching Jedi and listening to my Jedi Record which tells the entire story of Jedi that durring the Sarlac Pit fight, when Han is rescuing Lando, Lando says “Wait, I thought you were blind” the version that I remember on my record and in the theater had Han saying “It’s all right I can see a lot better” however when I first got the THX home videos Han says “It’s allright, Trust Me”. For years this line allways bugged me because I swore I heard him say “I can see a lot better” instead of “Trust Me”. On the 2004 DVDs, they changed his line back to “I can see alot better”. I check my videos to verify that the line was changed and I wasn’t going crazy. SO, has anyone else caught this tiny difference? I’ve never heard any discussion on this changed line before.

Slighty Off Topic: Capturing/Authoring questions
Time
I'm fairly new to the DVD authoring world and I was wondering if maybe you all could give me some pointers. I can convert almost any format and have several tapes worth of Star Wars footage to get converted.

My question is what software do you guys use to capture and edit your videos? I use the software that came with my ATI 9200 All in Onder card, I don't use any filters or mastering software (any suggestions?) and I'm finding when I make my DVD using DVD Factory, I notice that I get no sound from my surround sound unless I set it to "Analogue"

I have a decent capture card and one of the best soundcards but I just need to figure out how to get the audio to digital and not analog. And would also like some advice on various filters etc to clean up video grain, washed out video etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Then I can get to work on converting my 20something tapes to DVD and share with you all.

Thanks,
Jay

Info Wanted: What to convert next and help request? (for trading)
Time

Hello all, well I’ve been trading Star Wars related footage for several years. You an imagine my delight finding this website out.

Anyway, I have over 20 tapes worth of Star Wars footage on VHS that I need to get converted the question is where to start. I also am pretty much a newbie when it comes to DVD authoring. I have a laserdisk player, a betamax player, a VHS player and DVD player and a ATI 9200 All in wonder card so I can capture from almost any source, however I’m not very educated on the various filters, and mixing and mastering software to get the best possible quality.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I would even send out my VHS tapes to anyone wanting to help me with this project. Again, it’s where to start.

Here’s my list of Star Wars related footage:

I was actually just thinking about posting a new thread on what to convert. I have over 20 VHS tapes packed with Star Wars stuff and I'm just looking for an excuse to get them on DVD, I've really kind of been lazy about getting my tapes converted, I have TONS. Like all the extended versions of the Superman movies. But anyway, perhaps I could get some help doing it. (converting the Star Wars stuff that is) I have no problems loaning my tapes out to people with much better technical know-how on DVD authoring. I have a laserdisk player, betamax player, vhs, and DVD player of course so I can convert almost any source to mpeg, it's just applying all the filters and such. And I'm not doing something right when it comes to the audio portion. I have to turn my surround sound to Analog to get any sound once I make my dvds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

But I guess that's all for another thread. Time to post a new topic.

One to one trades, helping out the people who are doing the projects, helping out those who post the torrents or on newsgroups, helping out newcomers etc are more the norm than strict trade guidlines. PM's and e-mail are the best way to go here.

That's what I was intending on doing, one to one trades. I didn't post on here in hopes to increase my donations. I just wanted to trade some DVDs with some fellow Star Wars Fans. I prefer snail mail over torrents. Besides, in a trade both parties get something in return, I think it's awesome that people are setting up torrents for dvds they spend countless hrs creating but I think they deserve something in return. I could just download torrents but that doesn't seem fair.

I find it ironic that someone jumps my case because he doesn't like the content on my website and doesn't think it's cool to accept donations. But there are people on here that are Selling or taking the same amount of money for their DVDs. I author quite a few of my DVDs as well, although I probably don't spend as much time authoring them as some, but that's just because I have limited skills doing so. So I ask, what's the difference between me asking for donations AS A LAST RESORT IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO TRADE, or someone on here that's selling their DVD-rs?

But I guess since people seem to have a problem with trading, then I'll just get the torrents. Geesh!

To answer some of your questions:

1. Yes the prices do need updated, as does the entire website. (I've only been updating my DVD-R lists and that hasn't been updated since February) The pricing reflects what DVD-Rs cost about 2 years ago, still I have only managed to find quality name brand DVD-Rs for around $1.00 a piece or slightly cheaper if they're on sale. (never heard of the brands you use, 1 in 7 bad burns, that kind of sucks DUDE) The little equation I had was simply if you wanted to trade CD-Rs for my DVD-Rs, the price ratio is pretty much the same. But that has nothing to do with the donations or selling my DVD-Rs, that's only for the number of CD-Rs to DVD-R trade. Make sense?

2. Can you download them for free? Sure, I've never done it before, and until I found this website, I never traded that way, it was allways through snail mail. Didn't even think to host torrents. I may do that with my Night Flight DVDs eventually since they're a hot item. Torrents are still new to me, just started using them in December, until then, everything I've acquired has been my own creations or trading via snail mail. I don't claim any rights to any of my DVDs so if anyone trades with me and would like to host torrents, feel free.

3. Yeah I support bootlegging, isn't that what we're doing here or did some of us acquire licensing from Lucasfilm? I don't have any commercially available DVDs on my site unless it was something that was previously unavailble and I just haven't updated it yet. Only acception is the adult stuff which is not for sale (nothing is for sale technically) or donations. I can't police everyone's website, I know that the only 2 links I have are to good reliable traders who don't rip people off. Both have titles for sale or list their entire collection commercial dvds as well, but I don't buy from them and only trade for their RARE and or Authored DVDS. Ebay is a great source for RARE dvds but I rarely buy dvds there, I contact the sellers to see if they're interested in setting up a trade.

3. In regards to the adult dvds, first the link states that you must be 18 to trade, second it says, they're not for donations, third, I only trade for other adult titles from traders I know are 18 years of age or older, NO ACCEPTIONS. And finally, if you checked out the list you would see that it's pretty tame just incase prying eyes check it out. There are no pics and most of the titles have been censored. That portion is PG to PG-13 at worst. Hey isn't ROTS going to be PG-13?

I don't believe in selling DVDs for a profit, the donation is merely an option that people rarely use. Some people want dvds and have nothing to trade, the $10.00 donation covers cost of media, shipping, ink for labels and paper sleeves or cases, time and cost to drive to the post office, and wear and tear on my equiptment. I've gone through 3 DVD recorders, the first cost me over $350.00. I have never made a penny on this nor have I wanted to, haven't even come close to recouping my costs, but the $10.00 donations help out to keep my trading going and keep the website up.

And besides, I posted here asking to TRADE, made no mention of selling DVDs. And wouldn't think that anyone here would need to make a donation as I have none of these DVDs that you all have acquired.

I could make a fortune on ebay or other resources selling some of my Rare and somewhat exclusive titles but I chose not to because I don't feel that's right and it certainly isn't legal.

Hope these answers are to your satisfaction DUDE.

Hello everyone,

I just stumbled onto this website and whoa I’ve hit the motherload. I’ve been trading fan authored DVD-Rs of Star Wars and Non-Star Wars related material for quite some time. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in trading via snail mail. Bittorrents take too long and hog up too much bandwidth IMHO. Here’s a link to my list of DVD-Rs up for trade.

Jay’s DVD-R Trading Page

One last thing, I would like to thank each and every person who has dedicated their time and efforts to make the best possible DVD-Rs of the OT and especially for making them readily available for free or almost free. Just goes to show, Star Wars Fans are the greatest.
