SPACE COP 2016 (THE EPISODE IV SAVED IN EDITING EDIT) (Released)
Time

Hi there bishabosha,

Thanks for the feedback. You wrote: “I think some important things were cut also, such as Space Cop noticing the metal alloy…” You’re right it is actually an important sub-plot. The reason I cut it out was because of the fart joke in the head alien’s office. It was just too crude for my taste. But Spacecop noticing the Chromotanium poster was intertwined with the joke. In the following scene at the strip club Mike and Rich discuss the Chromotanium and so the cuts therefore went even deeper. One scene later though Mike redeems the situation by mentioning the company’s name, Aliun technologies or somesuch, so it shows that he had cottoned on to the underhanded goings on. As a compensation I tried to implement my own fart joke. When Rich shoots Jay after the foot chase, I inserted a fart sound. The idea being that the stun setting on the laser blaster also loosens one’s bowels. There’s even an incidental reaction shot of Mike as if he is reacting to the fart. I know its little compensation for cutting out the original fart joke, but I tried 😃

Anyhow thanks once again for the feedback and thank you for appreciating my efforts.

Greetings

SPACE COP 2016 (THE EPISODE IV SAVED IN EDITING EDIT) (Released)

Hello there,

After I saw Red Letter Media’s new film Space Cop I was reasonably disappointed because I guess I wanted it to be a comedy film I could share with friends who also have a love of sci-fi shlock. If you don’t know who RLM are, they’re the group who produced the Plinkett Star Wars reviews. They also do an online show called Half in the Bag.

My main problem with the film was that the pacing of it was just too slow. I re-cut the film with 200+ re-edits which reduces the film from 102 minutes to 83 minutes. I added some extra music, extra audio fx, added the odd visual effect and adjusted lighting in some scenes. It was a project that took 4 days to make.

Some omissions and shortcomings in this edit:

Color correction was not done on the film except for some atmospheric changes. Instead the focus was entirely on editing. (An existing criticism I have heard of)
Audio level correction and limiting was also not attempted for the film. (Another criticism I read about)
Due to the nature of re-edits some scenes could not be edited to absolute satisfaction.
Just PM me if you want a link to the download.

Greetings

This is probably posted in the wrong thread, so I’m reposting in the ‘Fan edits of other films’ category.
