STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

The music is the same as the original. It just starts later in the scene because of the added shot of Slave 1 following the Falcon. But, at the point you are talking about, it is exactly the same as in the original, music wise. There is no jarring or bad edit there. The only thing different is the engine sound. If you wanted to replace it with the original audio you couldn’t without replacing a few shots because the sound effects would not line up with what’s on screen with Slave 1 starting its engines later.

Hmmm, okay, I guess the sound of the Slave 1 engine made transition between the escape music and the ominous cockpit music sound weird to me. It kind of sounds like the Falcon escape music stops abruptly.

If it really bothers you (and I’m not exactly saying it’s silly because I’m thinking of doing it for myself) you could pretty easily cut in the audio track for the original version (I suggest using the 93 mix for audio quality) for that scene quite seamlessly.

Edit:ignore that I forgot he kept the second shot but made the slave farther away from the falcon.

Although it would still be easy to use the original audio and remove that shot to be like the original for yourself if you wanted.

Maybe. I could edit the audio but I’m not so good with video editing. I could try though. Any slight benefits that the SE edition of that scene have aren’t worth the inclusion of that jarring audio transition (at least in my opinion). It’s just different music and an extra shot or two of slave 1, right? I don’t mind the original’s music.

The scene is different from the original cut seen in despecialized. When they added in the extra shots of slave 1, they moved the music forward in the scene, so the music cue appears at a slightly different point. I didn’t alter the music when it switches to Boba Fett in the cockpit. it’s as it appears in the Blu-ray.

Oh, so it was in issue in the original mixing of the special edition’s audio track. Is there any adywan magic that can be done to smooth it out or would that mess up other stuff?

Hello, I just wanted to say I love the Revisited project and am highly grateful to Adywan for all of his efforts. I know this isn’t the ESB:R forum but I couldn’t find anywhere else to ask this because the official ESB:R forum is essentially dead now. Please don’t bite my head off for this but I thought it was important for someone to relay this information to Adywan before he releases the BD-25.

I believe I found an error in ESB: Revisited. During the scene where the Millenium Falcon escapes the empire by floating away with the garbage there is a bad/choppy music cut out when the scene switches to Boba Fett following them in the cockpit of his ship. I checked the Despecialized edition and it doesn’t seem to have this issue. I don’t know how difficult it would be but perhaps this is something that can be corrected on the BD-25 release.

Thanks. Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.

Project Threepio (Star Wars OOT subtitles)
Time

Hmm, okay, I just figured I’d use the higher resolution subs if there wasn’t an issue. I do have a 4k TV so it might make a difference. I wonder if the difference in sharpness between the 1080p and 720p subtitles is worth potentially wasting a BD-25 disc if it doesn’t scale properly. I have an older copy of Despecialized with Project Threepio subs and I’m pretty sure I used 720p subtitles and I did notice that the subs (the match ones) had quite a bit of aliasing when I played the disc on my TV.

Hi, I just wanted to say I love the Revisited project and am highly grateful to Adywan for his efforts.

Also, I believe I found an error in ESB: Revisited. Someone please relay this to Adywan so he may change it in future releases. During the scene where the Millenium Falcon escapes the empire by floating away with the garbage there is a bad/choppy music cut out when the scene switches to Boba Fett following them in the cockpit of his ship. In the Despecialized edition the music flows smooth as butter.

My only small criticism of the edit is when Obi-Wan appears to Luke as a force ghost, I kind of prefer it without the aura around him. I think the effect is a little distracting and feels out of place. It’s more haunting to me without it.

If Adywan happens to see this I’d like to ask him if he’d ever consider uploading the lossless (or near lossless) mkv to the internet so that people can download it and then convert it to whatever file size they want using Handbrake or some other type of software. I feel like this would be a good way to get lots of custom sized versions floating around the internet. People who are eagerly waiting for the BD-25 version would be pacified by this while they wait for you to release the full Blu-Ray with menus.

Thanks Adywan!

Hi Adywan. I was wondering if you are going to do a purist version in HD, like the one you had before. I'm actually half-half. I loved everything you did in revisited except for the change of music in the Obi-Wan/Vader duel scene. At one point the music changed a little too abruptly into a different score when Luke goes "nooo" at the end of that scene. The vibe of the original duel (without the Revenge of the Sith music) had more of a mystical ambience, which is what I loved. That scene is classic movie magic, and I thought it had more effect the way it was. Like I said, I thought everything else you did was incredible (far better than what George Lucas had done). It was just one step from being perfect. So maybe you could consider releasing a version without the music change as well as the normal revisited (or maybe just release the new hd revisited without the Revenge of the Sith music). It would be the perfect Star Wars, and i would be eternally grateful.

PS: I love what did with the hut scene. It makes a lot more sense and flows way better.

There is over 800 pages here, so I don't know if someone has mentioned this. I kind of liked the new scene in the special edition where Sidious tells Vader that Luke is his son, but earlier Vader says something like "Skywalker must be with them" referring to the base on Hoth which is in contradiction to the later added dialogue because he wasn't supposed to know that Luke was his son yet. Maybe that's something to correct in your edit.

Another thing is that the added dialogue (when Sidious tells Vader about Luke) goes against the opening crawl that says Vader is scouring the galaxy looking for Skywalker, which means he knew Skywalker was his son.

I'd change the opening crawl and change Vaders line from "Skywalker is there, i can feel it" to "the rebels are there" or just remove it.

Hello Adywan,

I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your version of A New Hope. It beats out George's cut by a mile. I love the editing of the hut scene and the coloring. The only thing that keeps it from being perfect for me though is the music during the Obi-Wan/Vader fight scene. I tried your "Purist" version but that got rid of some of the edits you made that I liked. I don't know how difficult it would be for you to make and possibly upload a version of A New Hope with everything except for the changed music in the Vader fight scene, but if you did, you would have one very happy fan.

Thanks and I hope you continue doing what you're doing for a long time.
