Info: 'SUPERMAN THE MOVIE' - The 35mm Silver Screen Edition
Time

I downloaded the file from Bower’s website. I would LOVE to have a better version of the file. Always loved the old look of the film with all its faults. It just made it all the more beautiful in a strange way. I hope to be able to download this version at some point. Any addition to my Superman film collection is a positive one. Much credit to all who have given time, resources etc to this project. That is why I love being part of this community!

Superman I-III extended TV cuts & Info - Where have the Preservations gone? (Released)
Time

The use of the term Silver Screen Edition makes me think fan because of its obvious similarities to the Star Wars SSE. But, as you said, last year his KCOP/International Edition was released just prior to the official blu-ray. Perhaps it is similar and we will be seeing both. That would work for me. I would love to see both. Love the official releases, and I am a sucker for purchasing every new release. But I also love fan preservations both due to the technical expertise and care that is displayed and the fact that it is just out of a desire to see something loved preserved. I suppose we’ll see.

Info Wanted: All versions of Original Trilogy?
Time

They are not the same. Harmy’s are a recreation of the original trilogy using the blurays and various other sources such as the GOUT and 35mm film to recreate the original trilogy. The Silverscreen Edition and Grindhouses (ESB and ROTJ) are 35 mm preservations. They have been digitally preserved, but are original without any changes (except for cleanup of the picture due to the age of the film).

Both are true labors of love by truly dedicated fans of the original unaltered trilogy, but are slightly different in how they have accomplished the goal of preserving these original versions.

I see capedwonder.com also confirmed the widescreen release. Great news! Jim Bowers at caped wonder made the point to push people to order sooner rather than later as interest in this release could be what WB uses to determine if the sequels will get the same treatment. Here’s hoping there’s a great response form the fans.

Superman I-III extended TV cuts & Info - Where have the Preservations gone? (Released)

I did see JayArgonauts post, and I looked at the link. I appreciate him posting it. The issue is the link he posted has some slight differences from the link for the preorder, namely his link lists 16x9 letterbox, while the order page lists 16x9 FULL FRAME. It’s an odd choice to list is as full frame, and considering the International Cut was only ever shown on TV in fullframe as opposed to widescreen or letterbox leads to the question. I have done the research and checked it out. Not sure where the anger is coming from considering I haven’t asked anything out of lack of research. The same question has been brought up on other boards, where some people have actually reached out to WB for clarification.

As an aside, I have loved being a part of this community for quite some time. This is the first time I have ever had such a response. Oh well, have a great day! I hope it is in widescreen.

At the link for the pre-order, look at the aspect ratio. It states 16x9 full frame. There are two different ratios, as there are two different cuts it seems. The full frame is what makes me think we may not get a widescreen. Link below.

It would be great, but the description on the pre order frame says “full frame.” So, I am not so sure it will be widescreen.

Since WB does now have all the original film elements, it is logical that it be released in widescreen for the first time. Putting it all together for HD I imagine was a challenge (as it is for all remastered films), but worth the effort. Buying the blu ray will be your way of thanking WB.

Perhaps a new KCOP/Salkind International edit will be done mixing widescreen and full frame as has been done in the past, except this time with superior elements. Either way, excited for this news. The KCOP/Salkind International cut was taken down from caped wonder, for obvious reasons, but interesting that it finally appeared after all this time. Always wonder if the cut at caped wonder may have hinted at an official cut coming…perhaps even to gauge fan interest. Either way, excited. Hoping for all movies to receive the same treatment.

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)

Nice covers. Thanks for sharing.

Regarding those who keep asking “How do I get these?” in the wrong threads, I think we should just have a blanket response, such as “Please take time to look through the forum for the answer to your question.” I don’t think we should be answering the question as it just encourages the continued practice of asking in the one place.

I’m not a huge contributor, but I enjoy seeing updates and progress on the various projects. It’s annoying to think there is new information when the thread is bumped, only to find out it’s yet another request on how to get the project.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - IMAX 16:9 Preservation (* unfinished project - lots of info *)
Time

One option, which may mean waiting, is Cinemax in US. Very often, Cinemax starts broadcasting the films once they are finished being broadcast on HBO. In the case of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Cinemax showed the Rogue Cut, while HBO showed the theatrical. Perhaps this may happen again with BvS. It will take some time to see.

The KCOP or Salkind International Cut that was being worked on by some dedicated fans has been completed. It is the longest cut of Superman The Movie. It clocks in at 188 minutes. The clean up is good. It’s presented in full frame with mono audio as it was originally presented on its TV airings. It contains footage not found on any official release. Check out Caped Wonder for more information. Really great for any other Superman fans out there.
