What can we do? The immediate future is going to be terrible for anyone not well off in this country. We can’t do something as simple as a healthcare bill without political strife. More and more people are slipping into abject poverty almost on a daily basis. Black people are being murdered, even if they did everything right, just because of the color of their skin. We are becoming a backwards and impoverished country where the elites can do whatever they want with you, with zero consequences. We are a nation where justice simply does not exist for the unprivileged. Now we have to face at least eight more years of this tyranny, and tens of millions will be dead at the end, lives that could have been saved. I hate this shitty country. Nothing can be changed.

It seems especially bizarre that the anthology films – the ones you’d expect directors to have more creative freedom on – are getting the most executive interference, while the Sequel Trilogy apparently has no problems in terms of creative issues.

Why were the Ewoks even there? Or the aliens in Jabba’s palace? To sell toys of course. Lucas abandoned all ideas of creativity when the toy sales were overshadowing ticket sales. That’s why Han Solo survived at the end of Jedi, because no one would buy toys of a dead character.
It’s nice that Kathleen Kennedy is purging creative talent for profit. Because that’s what we need, the franchise being dragged further under water, after the prequels took a hit to the franchise. Even if TLJ turns out to be good, episode IX is going to suck hard (Book of Henry was awful and sexist), and now the Han Solo movie is going to be neutered on arrival.
What a miserable lot that this franchise has had to go rapidly downhill after the second installment, thanks to corporate greed.
Colin Trevorrow is still a very bad choice to direct a Star Wars film, unlike Abrams and Johnson.
The time might come when we may need to take action in the streets to get the OOT released. We need to go to Lucasfilm/Disney headquarters, and stage protests/sit-ins until they give us what we deserve. It is unacceptable that an entire generation now does not even remember (or even care) the original versions of the trilogy. This is, again, a form of cultural erasure that disconnects us from the past for no practical reason. For Disney to just ignore this shameful act is absolutely horrifying, as more and more people are accepting a counterfeit version of these cultural landmarks that no other film in history has ever faced. We need to resist at all costs.
Disney needs to keep Trevorrow on a tight leash if they don’t want to make Episode IX the worst ever film in the franchise; based on his track record so far, he make Lucas look like Orson Welles.
At least Jar Jar Abrams was a competent director (even though he is a Spielberg clone), something Trevorrow is proving himself not to be.
