Phantom Menace REIMAGINED!
Time

which editor are you using?

Oh, I think it would be easier to have Qui-Gon scold Anakin for following them to the Naboo capital than to have him stay behind on Coruscant. The space battle isn't crucial, but it could still be edited to make Anakin look somewhat cool.

The problem isn't with Anakin's involvement with the battle, anyway. The problem people have with it is how he came to be there in the first place.

Windu's Blue Lightsaber (Resources) [Updated 1/25/15 - EP2 AVAILABLE NOW] *** See First Post***
Time

I kind of liked that Mace had a purple saber — at least he had "some" character to him. They made green and blue too common and boring. I remember first seeing Luke with his green lightsaber in ROTJ, but now it seems less special as it once was. They should have had other Jedi carry different colored lightsabers just to change things up — maybe yellow, orange, or even pink for some of the babes. :p Well, anyway, I always imagined Yoda with a yellow one. I think it's odd that he himself being green would use green. :(

I just download the the dvd9 version of this film and Im trying to download the EXTRA PAR2 FILE to fix the file, however the link is broken.

Does anyone know where I can grab this file from?

Not to sound like a jackass, but what's that file for?

Well, anyway, I noticed that the Purist Edition doesn't have menus. Is that correct, or did I download a bad file?

Personally, I've always thought of "cloaking" (at least within the Star Wars universe) to be just making your ship undetectable to the other ship's scanners rather than literally making it invisible.

In any case, it doesn't seem like something that Ady would go for...I think it has been discussed before though.

That's cool. I just figured I'd ask about it. I always figured the cloaking device in Star Wars was how you described it.

Is there any chance, at this juncture, of having the Slave I go into cloaking device mode (like how it's done in Star Trek) at the end of his approach to the Falcon, to better explain why he wasn't detected when he followed Han all the way to Bespin? :)

I mean, since the technology was at least mentioned to exist, they could have least showed how it worked. Unless, the technology only hides the presence of a space vessel and not make it actually disappear, and this was what was demonstrated with Boba Fett's ship, anyway. I never really read any of the EU concerning the Slave I and so I don't know if they ever explained that it had a cloaking device. But it does make sense that he would, though. ;)

When the Death Star fires at the MonCalamari ship, it always bothered me that the beam didn't just punch right through like it was made of paper and keep going.  It can destroy a whole planet, so a ship shouldn't have stopped it...  Maybe it could even take out another ship(s) in the background.

This is a good one. I've always thought the same, myself.

I believe the official explanation is that the second Death Star had a variable energy output so they could dial it down to destroy a ship, or dial it up to destroy a planet.

Something about that explanation just never sat right with me.

 why? because it makes sense?

Not to sound like an ass, but what's the point of changing background scenery that doesn't really add anything to the edit? e.g., ships on the horizon which were going left are now going right. It just seems like changing things just for the sake of changing things, regardless if it's fixing continuity, no? It seems a bit excessive to me, is all. Is this just an attempt to label the work as yours, or do you feel the additions are necessary?

Well anyway, great work on the fine touches, regardless of what I think.

Your post seems like complaining for the sake of complaining. Seems you two are on the same boat my friend. In a movie with hundreds of continuity errors ones like this bug the hell out of people. Ady changes usually speak to a decent percentage of SW fandom.

I was just making an observation and was curious as to why he would do that. We're here to talk about this topic, no? What do you want me to do, say thanks and just move on. It's just an opinion, man, so relax.

I never name called. It's just an opinion.

Also read the rest of my edited post in which I give a theory as to why Ady changed the directory of the escaping ships. Then hopefully you will understand.

Actually, I was talking about the scene at 4:40, which happens through the window that exposes the Slave I.

Like I said, it's great work nonetheless, regardless of what I think.

are there fanedits out there that are based on the 1995 thx versions of the old trilogy? you know, the last ones that came out before the special editions?

The master used to produce the 1995 THX releases is the same one used to produce the 2006 Theatrical Bonus DVDs (a.k.a., GOUT).

Team Blu is doing their own upscaled/cleaned-up/etc. release of GOUT. I guess one could consider this a "fanedit", but I don't think the term applies well to this kind of work; "restoration" would be more fitting.

yeah, but doesn't the GOUT version contain the crawl that's without the A New Hope title?

Yep, they replaced the 1981 crawl with the 1977 one. That's the only significant change.

So none of these fan restorations resemble the 95 thx versions and all have the original crawl, then?

What does OUT stand for? Old and unaltered trilogy?

OUT

Original Unaltered Trilogy, usually refers to the original 35mm theatrical  releases.

GOUT.

George's Original Unaltered Trilogy (as coined by Laserman), usually refers to the crappy DVD release that used the old LD master tapes.

Which fan edit version is the closest to the pre-special edition releases?
