I use bandcamp for my albums, and It’s up to the user how the price works. Free, pay what you want (with or without a minimum), or a set price. You can also listen to the entire commentary track on bandcamp without paying, as well.

I’m assuming they wanted to preserve the surprise of the Anakin force ghost at the end of RotJ, hence why he doesn’t disappear. T’was a good choice, in my opinion.

Cameron said the holdup on True Lies and The Abyss is Fox when asked at a Q&A. Abyss has been done for at least two years (I think longer), as the new transfer was used in HD broadcasts (no director’s cut, though). I’m assuming they’re being released this year to coincide with the T2 3D rerelease.

It probably depends on the kid, but scary moments in otherwise lighter movies never bothered me and don’t seem to bother any kids I’ve known past or present. I would usually just hide my eyes during scenes I didn’t like, and I’ve seen my son and nephew and friends’ kids do the same. If they like the movie, they’re not gonna care. Kids just accept the fact that some things are scary, but again, everybody is different. It helps if the movie’s good, too!

I’ve watched the SW movies since before I can remember (born in '81 for those who care). The only thing that ever bothered me in the movies was Yoda’s death. Something about how the music changes right before he disappears and that nasty pillow left behind made me feel uncomfortable. Nothing in the SW movies bothered my son when he watched it at the age of four, and he found a lot of things scary at the time.

Old Star Trek reruns freaked me out way more than SW ever did.

My dad took me to Star Trek The Motion Picture during one of it’s re-releases. Probably around 1982 for Wrath of Khan I’m guessing. That was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. I saw every Star Trek opening night with him (except for Kahn) up until Nemesis, which neither of us gave a shit about. I lived in Japan during '09 and Into Darkness, but we caught Beyond at the theater before it left.

Predator was the first R-Rated movie I got to watch thanks to my friend’s dad renting it on VHS way back when.

There’s an old vacuum commercial with Frank Sinatra (I think) dancing with a vacuum (or maybe it was Singing in the Rain Footage) that they made sometime after Forest Gump pioneered the technology of placing old actors (or JFK, in the case of Forest Gump) in new footage, so they’ve been at it for a while now.

Well, I gotta say with Ady’s departure, I’m gonna depart as well, since he was pretty much the sole reason why I thought this place was worth coming to as of late. I made my thoughts clear in another thread, but it’s pretty much been stated by a lot of people at this point. Even Frink has been getting annoying lately (sorry, but seeing Trump’s face over and over was the reason why I finally left Facebook), and I’m sure he won’t be offended by my saying that. 😛

Anyway, it’s been fun, but I’ll follow Revisited news through other means. Hopefully this place will become more enjoyable sometime in the future, but in my experience, I’ve never seen a board recover after it starts sucking.

While I’m not a Woody Allen fan (I like Sleeper, though) I’m sad to see the only guy on this site who sports a bitchin’ Sunny Day Real Estate avatar (the cover of Diary), sound pretty nuts. Wanting to murder somebody doesn’t sit right with me. Good album, though. Although, not as good as How it Feels to be Something On.

Absolutely. He was a dude who started an indie comic book company in the 80’s and never became a “company man.” I thought the comics were starting to falter towards the end with a lot of things that just didn’t seem interesting to me (Invasion, something about lost sith, and some other Old Republic comic (not KotOR by Miller, as I think that’s great)), but he was a great down to earth guy who was always interacting with fans, yet never pandering.

And c’mon, he wrote Dark Times. That’s a great comic that, if you ask me, transcends the license.

The only thing I was genuinely disappointed about was Dark Horse losing the license, not the fact that they were scraping what had come before. DH was an independent publisher which gave their SW comics a bit more artistic integrity, in my opinion. Plus, I’ve just got a bit of brand loyalty to them since they published a lot of great comics in the 80’s and 90’s for somebody who never liked the super hero stuff even as a kid.

Marvel’s output has been less than exciting, and I can tell it’s being written by super hero writers considering a lot of villains refer to themselves in the third person. 😛

There are so many stories left unresolved in life, that I hope people wouldn’t flip over it. Look how long we had to wait for new Twin Peaks! Although I will say that the DH comics were still pretty great in spots after the PT (you know, for a SW comic that still has to have action scenes in every issue).

I read some of the books from time to time up until I finished college. I used to read them when I wanted something light, but realized there’s a lot better light reading material out there like Clive Barker, Richard Adams, and others.

And I agree about the comics, although these new ones aren’t doing anything for me at the moment, especially considering the deluge of good mainstream comics coming out (Saga, East of West, Low, ODY-C, etc).

Yup! It’s pretty damn stupid. And the whole thing was unnecessary since the romance was awful. Just do a normal adventure movie romance between two likable characters.

(Even Phantom Menace didn’t have that rule in place, as the comics written at that time had Jedi with families)

Um…I just spent the last fifteen minutes following links and digging around some of this stuff. The way some people talk about Star Wars…it’s just Star Wars, you guys. Go read some better books (try some Gene Wolfe out). Almost makes me not want to be a fan. I guess it’s a good eye-opener, as even this site has its more zealous contributors.

As for people crying over legends…I just re-read Dark Times. It’s a great comic, and when it gets REAL good, it rivals Star Wars and Empire (in my opinion). And the fact that it’s a fake story that’s somehow considered MORE fake than the other fake stories (that are most all written and dictated by committee) doesn’t make it any less entertaining. Hell, my favorite comics are the old Marvel ones, and I think they got scrubbed from “official continuity” in 1991.

Star Wars is fun popcorn stuff. Safe and predictable. I hope some of these people know that it’s not real and that there’s a lot of other things for them to be passionate about (and they can still keep some for Star Wars). It’s a damn licensed product. Yeesh.

(Off topic, I saw some reviews for the new Marvel comics, and man, some people are really into this stuff and are really dissecting it. I can’t even remember any specifics about the last issue of Darth Vader which I read a few days ago. 😛 )

Of what? All the attention seems to be on a dewback that won’t stop braying. By the time the scene ends most people won’t have noticed those stormtroopers questioning that one dude.

(this is not a knock against Revisited, by the way. The new tie fighter sequence got a big “whoop!” from my son.)

John Wayne was from a different era than Clint Eastwood, so I don’t think it’s fair to compare their acting and their films. I am ahem not the world’s biggest John Wayne fan either, but I understand that it’s just a preference thing. John Ford is my least favorite of the big Western directors, but I do enjoy The Man who Shot Liberty Valance and The Searchers.

JEDIT: It needs a random thought to go with it, so my random thought is that I like that “Otter Disgrace” shirt that has a picture of an otter giving the finger, which is unfortunately covered by the exclamation mark.

I was watching Star Wars Revisited with my six year old son, and when the new dewbacks showed up (the “Look, sir! Droids!” scene) my son immediately said “cartoon Stormtroopers!”

The Kinect Star Wars stuff is actually probably my favorite SW thing outside of the movies. I love watching Vader and The Emperor have a dance off. In terms of entertainment value, it doesn’t get any better than that. It’s sort of the coolest and funniest thing ever and I’m very glad it exists.

Yeah, you guys haven’t overheard any conversations like the ones I’ve had or anything like that? People just pulling stuff out of their ass? Confusion over the Special Editions doesn’t count, as that’s understandable and those people have my utmost sympathies.

This is true. Most people just think they’re bad movies and have moved on. The majority of the folks I know haven’t seen them since the theater, with me being the exception having seen them a couple times years ago (except for my intoxicated marathon I did before TFA).

Just watched a few clips with my son, and I take it back. I’ll watch them from time to time when they release the originals. Both are so good, but for different reasons. (And he just told me Empire was his favorite SW movie, so that’s cool. And when I showed him a clip from Ep 3 (Yoda vs Emperor) he promptly got off the couch and did something else, so rock n roll).
