Info: Something that might interest folks here..."ROTJ" Editdroid Laserdisc Footage
Time

To my knowledge Jedi was never edited on the Editdroid. This laserdisc and probably others were made to demo the editdroid at conventions and demonstrations.

This disc could have been stolen from a convention or possibly even ended up with Avid after the systems were sold in 1993.

Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971
Time

The "inside" docs were remastered for HD with previous Blu Ray releases. Unfortunately, the remaining films new to blu this year still have the old SD docs, they didn't bother to upgrade these ;o(

And yes, the footage for the films in the original releases do use laserdisc footage. The Documentaries were started in late 1994 and were in production into 1996 for planned laserdisc special editions, but dvd came around and they saved them for the 99/2000 releases. Although a few were released on laserdisc, Thunderball and Goldfinger made it to laserdisc and vhs.

They're taking all the ORIGINAL film elements for the episodes and recomposing them from scratch.

I thought this wasn't possible for many effects, having been produced on video, and so they're redoing things in CG?

The composites were done on video. The raw elements were shot on film. Scan the film in HD and digitally re-composite and you have something that looks incredibly better than 1980's 480 video.

What HASN’T changed on the 2011 OT SE Blu-ray release – the uncorrected mistakes...

Just noticed this for the first time while watching the Blu Ray of AOTC, went back and checked the DVD. It's there too! Can't believe I never noticed this!

AOTC - Scene is palps office. End of steps, left side of screen.
26:13-26:14

When lil Annie and Palps are walking away from the window the camera pans with them towards the steps. The tracking of the last step and column is off, then suddenly it snaps into place. Sure it's fast, probably been there for 9 years, but how does this stuff get missed? Better yet, how does this get missed for 9 years while they are "fixing" other stuff?
Screenshots? I dont' follow.

The set in the office was a CGI matt-painting, Something was off about the tracking of the steps. Hard to explain and I'm not sure if screenshots would explain it because it's only obvious when the camera pans. I never noticed it on the dvd (but it's there), it really popped out at me on the Blu Ray.

TRON: Modern FX Update (* unfinished project *)
Time

This would be an interesting but very time consuming project.

Since computers have DRASTICLY changed since the first tron was made, I don't think the "look" of each film will clash that much. As the new film is set 30 years later, it would make sense that the look of the world would be updated, much as a computer has been updated.

But if anyone decides to do this, I'd watch it. It would be neat.

The Movie Memories audio was planed from the project's start, and was listed in the extras section in the original post. That's the only reason why I did not acknowledge you.

Cool, I didn't see it in the extras section. Just an oversight on my part I guess.

As long as it is presented as "excerpts from the book as read by Shatner" I think fans would love to hear it.

Presenting it as a commentary track could confuse some...

also our fan made William Shatner, Commentary track (audio edit from his Movie Memories audio book),

Nice to see someone took my suggestion. I mentioned it a few times in this forum but nobody seemed to like the idea.

I'm very interested in how you edited this track.

Good luck! The project looks great!

Would you be needing any custom artwork for this set? If you need any help I'd love to take a shot at it.

Also, i mentioned this eariler, but not sure if anyone read it. William Shatners Star Trek Memories and Star Trek Movie Memories ( Which were books he wrote in the 90's) were released as Audio Books read by the man himself. It would be interesting if a audio commentary was edited together using those as sources.

The image of Superman was created by Jim Bowers of CapedWonder, but it was used in the lenticular case for The Ultimate Collection box set- which he was involved w/ in creating the art design so I think it's pretty much open game

He created the image? Is it a cgi rendering or a painting? He did a great job if that's the case.

Wait. Your Alex from supermancinema right? Nice to see you again. It's probably obvious who I am.

I didn't use any of Caped Wonders finished images, that is certain. My cover is an original creation using a photo of Superman and a Stock photo of a sky. I have seen the image of superman on several different backgrounds on several different websites. I am assuming the superman image is a WB pic? Unless of course somehow CW owns the rights to certain Superman imagery, which I find doubtful.

What brought this up anyways? Was their a complaint? or does CW have the market on fan imagery?

Thanks for the post, Alex!

Edskizzorhands: Was that art from Capedwonder? Just checking because we don't want to use his art without permission. Thanks!

As far as I know it doesn't come from CW. The image of Superman I found on someones myspace page through a google image search. And the sky background comes from a stock images site I used. So no "stealing, or intention to steal" from CW went down. I am a big advocate of fanworks getting proper credit, so if any images are ever used, I try to get permission for them.
