Why MPEG2 is not as bad as you may think...
Time

AFAIK, MPEG-2 decoding shouldn't differ between different software or hardware... except for:

  • Inverse DCT algorithm (see DGDecode user manual: the difference should be imperceptible to human vision)
  • Error (broadcast glitch) handling
  • Post-processing (deblocking, mosquito noise reduction)

H.264 and H.265 correct the first point by specifying the algorithm that decoders have to use, and of course deblocking is included on the compression side (unless it's turned off like most BDs) instead of being an optional step at the end.

DCP video + laserdisc bit-perfect audio = interesting result... (^^,)

In particular because there are different languages laserdiscs - beside english, there are french, german, italian and spanish, all available at least for part 1.

With the actual dcp file not this re-encode? If so then I agree

Are you able to play 2K JPEG2000 at 24 fps?

Sorry to hear that, but it needs far more than just a comma. The lack of punctuation combined with the multiple meanings of the word "about" and the usage of "be about" to mean "be around" (Britishism I think?) all combined into near-incomprehensibility. I figured it out before scrolling down, but oi!

So, DCP can now be ripped? That's good news for stuff like this, where the DCP is far better than an existing official release but bad news for the film-makers - it means there are probably going to be perfect 1080p or even 4K pirate encodes of perfect quality online as soon as the movies hit theaters and that's bad.

I still doubt this has if they can be bigger newer films would be about I think this might have been unlocked

I want to sue you for the pain I felt trying to decrypt that sentence.

Info: Comb Filter Testing
Time

I'm always angry when I watch my parents' little 13" HDTV because of how good the SD video quality is. The 3D comb filter is just ridiculously effective, not only with LD but also with super-noisy analog cable signals (and the noise filter turned off). The only rainbows I saw last time I was there were on a black-and-white striped shirt, and they went away as soon as the character stopped moving.

They got this thing on sale for under $75, meanwhile there are $500 capture cards still made with 2D-only filters.

Thanks but I have no idea how to get that on my PC for use lol.

With an old version of iTunes and a program called Reqiuem, iTunes purchases can be decrypted. The 1080p download is being shared out there, but it shows mushiness typical of iTunes 1080p content. The 720p version may have more grain and detail as is usually the case with them.

The Warriors theatrical cut iTunes 1080p screenshots:
