Marvel Fans, I have an idea.

After watching Civil War again, I must say that I truly love this film. The third act is golden film-making. But something has always bugged me…which is the letter at the end. The entire scene cheapens everything that went down between Tony and Steve, and made me feel like they had already made up. Zemo’s question of “Did it?” was profound and thoughtful but was soon answered in not the way he would have liked. I have an idea of ending the movie after Zemo says “Did it?” There are some issues with this though, such as:

-How do we figure out that Captain America rescued everyone from the raft?
-Will the mid-credits scene in Wakanda make sense?

The solution/answer to the first issue is kind of unknown. In Infinity War or Black Panther, they might re-establish that Cap rescued the Avengers from “The Raft”. If not, then I guess I just trash this modified version and stick with the theatrical.

To the second issue, I think it is fine. As far as we know, Cap has escaped with Bucky and T’Challa is not angry at Bucky anymore, so it seems to be logical enough.

Do you guys have any opinions on this? I am very interested what you all have to say 😃

My parents don’t allow Rated R movies but I can basically watch anything PG-13 on my own.

I watch all Rated R films on my computer sadly enough and not on my tv so that I don’t get caught.

It’s ridiculous. They wouldn’t let me watch Spotlight. Like God damn people, I wanna watch a well made movie about a serious and important topic. That’s about as mature of a reason to watch a Rated R movie as you can get. Deadpool on the other hand…

The thing I’m gonna miss more than anything with the removal of a ‘chapter crawl’ at the start…is the booming Williams ‘main theme’ which usually accompanies it.

I was kinda hoping that the original Williams theme would remain a mainstay of the STAR WARS spin-offs, regardless of whoever was scoring each of the ‘standalone’ movie soundtracks. It’s gonna be strange for things to kick off without hearing it, no matter how the new titles are done.

Another reason that losing the crawl is a dumb decision.

Really like the “Full Color and Contrast” look, but the “Compromise” look, isn’t a bad middle-ground look either Dre.

The real Technicolor movies of the Silver Screen era, were quite saturated and had a lot of contrast. Your video sample was very much Technicolor-Like indeed, and a joy to see.

Keep up the miraculous work Dre!

You are a Jedi (Video Editor) Master!

+1. Technicolor for the win!!!

I agree with John Campea that this is a mistake by Lucasfilm if they drop the crawl. It has been apart of not just the saga films but the comic books, novels and video games. You have 2 hours to give us a new distinct type of Star Wars movie. If they really want to make the anthologies different in more important and meaningful ways then shake up the tone of the films, or take on a unique narrative style. That’s what I want from the anthologies. Not trashing an inherent part of almost all Star Wars movies (the crawl).

It won’t ruin the movie for me though in the slightest. I will get over it real quick but nevertheless (IMO) it is an unnecessary and dumb decision by Lucasfilm.

Just got back from Doctor Stange in RPX. I gotta say that I actually agree with Mala. Maybe to a lesser extent though cause I did find the film to be very funny along with some spectacular visuals but besides that, it really falls flat for me. I’d say it goes with some of my least favorite MCU films like Thor 2 and The Incredible Hulk, as a enjoyable yet dissapointing film.

Eh, your loss. Glad I enjoyed it.

I’ll have to see it a second time. My opinion might change.

I also read the first issue of Dark Knight Returns and it has the same story/writing strengths of Year One but the art is confusing and feels very rushed and messy. It’s sufficient and the cold color palette is fine but it can be very confusing. But the panels Miller takes time on are beautiful, and there are so many good lines 😃 I must say that I like Year One more so far, but I have already read 3/4 of Year One and I’m only a fourth into Returns.

I read the next two issues of Batman Year One and am now onto the final issue and so far have LOVED it! I wanted to revisit comics and when I read the highly recommended Civil War, I was thoroughly dissapointed but this comic book so far has been masterful. The art is sooooooooo good. Mazzuchelli has such a unique style. And Miller writes Batman so well.

Deepwater Horizon

Film Grade: B+

Though a little predictable, I thought this was actually a damn good movie. From the trailers, I wasn’t all that excited but it really delivered for me. Wahlberg gave a pretty good performance and it was tear jerking with the end credits. I’ll definetly be buying this on blu ray 😃
