I wish I was immortal. Not because I want to necessarily want to live forever, I just want to experience history. There’s so much that happened from the 19th century to the 21st, and I’ll only ever be able to give it a cursory glance in a history book, or in a 20 minute video on the evolution of music. There’s only so much you can learn when viewing things from above. There are things that will happen in my lifetime that may seem inconsequential, but will have an effect on history that I’ll never be able to experience. I can only sit here and wonder what the future will be like, never knowing what kind of secrets of the universe we as a species are able to uncover.

Ironically, if I were immortal, I’d probably be terribly bored and wishing I wasn’t.

I always have found the question of being immortal fascinating. Because the thought of having to live forever with no end sounds somewhat terrifying and the thought of resting for eternity kind of sounds fitting. But when we are all on our death beds we most likely would always want more time (depending on your state of living). But as stated earlier, fascinating topic to discuss.

Hey everyone, it’s been a while!

Glad to read things are moving along. Hopefully the Wampa issue can be fixed Ady. You’ve worked too hard on that puppet for it not to make it into the final version of the movie. It’d rather the release is delayed a bit until the problem is figured out than scrap using the puppet altogether. It’s amazing the level of commitment and detail you’ve achieved with these edits, if you decide not to include your Wampa, I feel like you’ll regret it eventually.

Take your time, you’ll make it work. Best wishes!

Nice to see you back Marty!

I tried to start a podcast with a friend of mine in freshman year. Needless to say, it was awful, but I had a good time recording the three(?) short episodes that we did. They’re floating around Soundcloud somewhere I think.

I don’t listen to podcasts very often nowadays. Occasionally I listen to Steele Wars. I used to listen to this pretty cool one called Welcome to Night Vale, but I got way behind and never caught up.

I’ve always wanted to start a podcast in college just about anything. Something like the wanger show on the schmoes know feed.

SJW is a criticism of faux-liberals. The kind of people who are tripping over themselves to be more politically correct and more inclusive than everyone else, not in the interest of promoting liberal ideals, but in the interest of promoting themselves and improving their social status.

Of course, that’s not what liberalism is about. It’s a horrible problem the left has these days.

That’s why in the video I linked about “Leaving the Left”, Dave Rubin says that he feels like what used to define a liberal (standing up for free speech) has now morphed into “If you disagree with me, then you are a racist bigot who should be thrown out and not listened to. Now onto the violent protesting that achieves nothing”.

I wonder what everyone thinks of some of the new leftist SJW culture that has been arising. I notice it a lot since I attend high school and probably will notice it even further during college. But sometimes I genuinely feel like if you support Trump, then you automatically are shamed and shut down. I see it happen everyday. I am NOT a trump supporter in any shape or form. I think he is unqualified, makes poor decisions, and ultimately is not well educated enough to be a successful president. I am willing to discuss why I think so and if you disagree then that is awesome! But I keep running into more and more people who simply disrespect someone if they figure out that they are republican or support Trump. I do support capitalism and am mostly pro-life (I say mostly because they are a multitude of special situations where it should be up to the mother). But I also believe in separation of church and state (I’m an agnostic), gay rights, and keeping the environment a top priority.

I ultimately fear that PC culture is starting to shut down discussion and plagues debates with personal attacks of people being a racist, bigot or fascist.

All in all, does ANYONE at all here ever feel like it is becoming more and more unacceptable to take certain views and express your opinion in fear of being named a racist, or a bigot? (which is happening, just look at the Berkley protests or any of my highschool classrooms). I would say that I probably align myself most with the views that Gavin Mcinnes and Dave Rubin on this new issue. The final video below really sums up the gist of what I’m saying: (Dave Rubin on why he “Left the left”)

I thought using Jason Bourne was just unfair. That’s literally a standalone movie about one single character. Rogue One was lacking in character development but Chris asking to see her grow up to her current age was ridiculous. We should have had a few flashbacks and flesh out her relationship with Saw more but a lot of Chris’s desires would require a 4 hr running time.

Well maybe if LF would wisen up and do what Warner did to Harry Potter and turn a spinoff movie into a five-part movie franchise of it’s own, we could explore those stories 😛

Ugh God no. Except maybe after the sequel trilogy they could do an old republic trilogy. ALL new characters, ALL new story that is wide in scale. But for now I want standalone stories.

Didn’t really know where to put this but I just learned that a junior at our high school died unexpectedly. I didn’t know him very well but he seemed really nice. A lot of his friends on cross country had to leave the class room when the teacher told us. Damn, it’s so fucking depressing 😦

This made me briefly stop and reflect on the fragility and uncertainty of life. I’m a junior. This could happen to me or any of my friends at any time. If you don’t mind me asking (or if you even know, because I don’t know if you would know), what caused it?

I didn’t know before but we got an update and it turns out that he took his own life. He always seemed so happy and his friends said it was completely out of nowhere.

Had a bad feeling that’s what it was. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it myself (and I’m not willing to admit how often I still do), but I’ll shut up about me now. His friends and family are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

While I don’t agree with everything Chris Stuckman said about Rogue One I appreciate him not being all condescending like Jenny Nicholson. I found myself agreeing more than not with her points but the way she states her case makes it almost impossible fore to rewatch her video criticizing Rogue One.

Jenny Nicholson’s video was unbearable. Chris’s was respectable and I agree about him on Jyn but disagree on Cassian. And I think the comparisons he drew with other movies were not as warranted as he may have thought. At least he wasn’t a douche about it like Nicholsons video.

This definetly was a negative for me. I think Emma did fine for the most part but there was definetly some lines that were not hit well at all and stuck out to me.

Missed notes or glaring mistakes weren’t the problem for me. It was the lack of a transcendent voice. There were just no “wow, damn that girl can sing” moments that are really needed to carry a musical. It was just all auto-tuned, robotic monotony.

The mother teapot’s singing of “Tale as Old as Time” was the one song I thought was done justice.

I agree that this rendition by Emma Thompson was fine. Not as good as Angela Lansbury’s, but still fine on its own.

Nothing can surpass the original. It’s just too damn good.

You mean Vader has nothing to do with this film, except for the fact that he is in hot pursuit of the stolen plans in the opening frames of Star Wars? For that fact alone the slaughter scene is reasonable.

Right on the nail! I think that you could make an argument that the castle scene wasn’t needed but the slaughter scene ties in quite nicely with the events of episode 4. It also helps explain why he is so angry. And it’s literally the most badass scene in any Star Wars movie. Sorry, I think it’s pretty clear that I love that scene xD
