I tend to see movies first in standard, 3D and finally IMAX 3D

TFA was the only movie I did the pre ticket sales for and I wont be doing it for Rogue One. I’m not even taking off work to see it. But don’t get any ideas; I’m still very pumped to see this movie.

I really dislike 3D feature films, but i also really like a big event feel if i am going to opening night, and IMAX delivers that. (at least in my local theaters that is how it breaks down). So i think i will probably be getting IMAX 3D tickets for opening night. and then if i go again (of course!), i will choose the standard showing down the street.

I didn’t used to be that big into opening night, but its a fun excuse to do something out of the usual these days, but only for a select few movies that is!

The amount of references to male Mary Sues are about 0.005% of female Mary Sues. That’s precisely why it is sexist.

What a ridiculous argument. Is “Benedict Arnold” as a term sexist toward men?

What a ridiculous response. I didn’t say Mary Sue is a sexist term because it is a female name.

The number of male Mary Sues far exceeds female Mary Sues, yet female Mary Sues are labelled as such much more often, that is why it is sexist.

Yeah and I’m saying the majority of people being called a Benedict Arnold are probably men. Does that make it sexist?

Perhaps. but i don’t get why this idea that you can point out a separate issue (even if possibly related) and think that it negates the current issue. Just stop calling Rey a Mary Sue, and start saying “i don’t like woman leads”

If that’s how you feel. Still happened and explains how she managed to fly the Falcon.

EDIT:

She found the ship and I think the flight simulator was in there as well. So with that being said there’s nothing wrong with any of this.

The key thing that people miss is that Unkar Plutt raised her on Jakku. She hasn’t been on her own the whole time. I imagine growing up she was a sort of servant to Plutt, working for him (on ships and such, which is why she knows so much about the Falcon - his ship) until she was probably 18 or so and then had to fend for herself. Would be smart for him to teach her to know the ways around a ship so that if he needed repairs he could just get her for dirt cheap.

great points all.

I will say, so little back story was explained, that i guess you could either go the accept it for now route, which some of us are taking, or you could go the ‘it isn’t all explained therefore it is dumb’ route, which a few others are taking. Since it is a story, i choose the ‘accept if for now’ route.

Hilarious because if it had all been spelled out people would be complaining that they didn’t leave anything up to the imagination or whatever.

I think the few lines in there were enough, and everything else can be reasonably assumed. Remember, all we knew about Luke’s piloting skills was that he knew how to “bullseye womprats in [his] T-16” whatever that means. No one had any trouble going along with that, even though he’s probably never flown an X-Wing before. If anything I’d say they gave a lot more reason to believe Rey could pilot the Falcon than Luke an X-Wing.

Oh wait except she’s a girl whoops I forgot, any skills she has are just feminist bs.

Yep

I’m I hearing Rey origins Trilogy???

I wasn’t advocating for that, but seeing you say that, I wouldn’t be surprised of there were discussions at LucasFilm. But I don’t know if anybody has the guts or blindness to do anything resembling a prequel trilogy… 😁

I would probably love this film if Kyle Katarn was in it. As it is, I’m not interested and have no plans to see it. Two Star Wars movies with a female lead…, it’s all just feminist BS.

You’re absolutely right, Star Wars is for men!!! I’ll take a universe full of spacefaring humanoid aliens that usually speak English, basically use magic, build giant planet-destroying superweapons, and fight with laserswords, but if those aliens are women then that’s totally implausible feminist nonsense!

[end sarcastic rant]

Well, we already had Rey, who could outfight Kylo Ren, though she never picked up a lightsaber before.

She had used her staff, though. And maybe Kylo Ren is absolute rubbish at using a lightsaber, we have no reason to think he was good.

She could also fly the Millennium Falcon without any training as a spaceship pilot.

Untrue. As CHEWBAKA said, she did use flight simulations. I don’t know if it was mentioned in the movie, but it was definitely mentioned in Before the Awakening.

it was mentioned in the movies. also she claimed to have flown a real ship, just never outside of the atmosphere. As usual, those with the rants misstate or ignore facts.

Who was trying to be funny?

I know you have terrible taste so if you hated it there’s a good chance it’s a good movie.

You love Ghostbusters 2k16, so I guess anything is a good movie according to you.

None of us will be alive in 200016.

no, see, the ‘k’ was to reduce typing effort and is a shorthand way to write… oh. nevermind!

I really wish people would stop making these things…

Why?

I think people should just forget about Jar Jar. Whether he’s being discussed in a serious connotation or just for levity I just want us to move on. Secondly, Gungans creep me out. Call me racist all you want but…

Actually, I’d call you were a racist only if you weren’t offended by Gungans.

he wasn’t offended by them. He said that they creep him out.

Star Wars: Rogue One Theories

I have a feeling that Jyn’s father intentionally put the exhaust port on the Death Star. After all, he seemed reluctant to make the plans in the first place, and he has a direct link to the rebels.

This video sums it up way better than I ever could.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc7psTxikz0

its a fun theory, but no. it took the rebels some analyzing of the plans to find the weakness, it wasn’t handed to them. also, every fan theory is wrong, so there’s that too :p (it is a neat idea though)

Recently burned DVD+R will not play
Time

if you see a file with the iso extension on your burned disc, you did it wrong. when you burn, make sure you are burning an disc image! (ie, the iso contains a copy of the filesystem of the original dvd, when you burn this iso back to disc, you need to burn the iso as an image. that recreates the original filesystem. if you put the iso ‘on’ the disc, then you are just creating a data dvd, with the iso file on it.

in img burn this option is just called ‘burn iso to disc’, but in many other cd/dvd burning programs it is called writing an image to disc.

are you sure this is what you did? sorry you keep making so many coasters :p

Puggo GRANDE - 16mm restoration (Released)
Time

chrisholz64 said:

Hello all, I’m currently on the hunt for every original version of the original trilogy.
I’m looking for the highest quality version of the 16mm restoration.
but i have an important question:

is the Puggo Grande 16mm restore only available in 480p?
because that seems to be the only one i can find floating around.

P.S. im sorry if this has been already discussed within this topic, Its just 35 pages takes a lot longer to read than it took to type this out.

May the force be with you!

The projects as they stand now are just DVD releases, so 480p it is. The post directly above this quotes a comment about a possible future higher quality release, but i wouldn’t sit around waiting for that. These types of projects take time to complete.
