Hey, who decides what is and isn’t legitimate?
i think the only real answer is that everyone decides for themselves. which sorta has the net effect of it seeming to be a mob mentality.
I feel like people that don’t like TFA or Rogue One are being treated like trolls. There seems to be little distinction between users that have legitimate and clearly articulated gripes and people that bitched constantly and rudely about how they’re the worst things ever.
well, there is a third category, a user who for the first time mentions a gripe they have, but the rest of us have heard that gripe a hundred times and know that the gripe is not actually legitimate, because it stems from a misunderstanding of something that actually happened in the film.
This is the kind of attitude I’m talking about. It reminds a lot of prequel fans on TFN.
Sadly for the rest of us, it is hard to know when this third category happens, so we often react as if someone is trolling.
It’s very clear when someone is trolling or being intentionally provocative.

Is it “okay” to torrent the Despecialized Editions rather than download the long way? (Granted that I own the original trilogy on DVD)
“okay” is really all about a best faith effort to actually own what you can, and in this case you should really own the Blu-ray, not the DVD, as the Despecialized Editions are largely Blu-ray source.
where you find the files is up to you, but the trouble with torrents is that they are often not the original source, they might just have audio tracks trimmed to reduce size, but sometimes they are re-encodes or downscales.
TLJ opening day will only give them a few million, which would barely dent they $50+ BILLION they’re getting Fox for.

I enjoyed that. Just don’t take it too seriously, it’s just a fun guilty pleasure, nerd out, type of thing.
I was going for that, but when the main character straight up says to the effect of “this thing I’m doing… it’s meh. Your reading me do it is also meh.” I can’t nerd out to that when it sticks in my craw.
I just consider the character to be a dumb kid who is sadly wrong about much of life. There is no rule that says protagonists are always right is there? 😋

I know it’s a lot of work for you, but I feel this thread would be more useful if there were more categories or sub-categories.
I’ve thought about this. It would be a major refactoring of the the thread, however.
i really only use this thing for ctrl+f style searching, so i could care less about the organization, just adding keywords per thread would be the most helpful if you wanted to do more work.
