So from what I’ve been seeing around there is going to be one final release of each film which will be 3.0 using the 35mm prints that poita is getting and these will be in 1080p (or higher)?

Is this the case or is this going to be an ongoing project forever?

It’ll be 1080p because it will be the blu-ray merged with those scans, and nothing of lower quality included.

No one can ever say for sure what the final release will be for projects like these. If you look at anyone’s project threads here, you’ll see them suggest something is a final release, followed by years of updates on continuing work and additional releases, etc. There’s always room for improvement, so it’ll be done when Harmy is completely sick of it. 😃

(but yes, 3.0 is a ways off and no one has ever suggested anything to come after 3.0)

Don’t forget about the 2004 HDTV version for replacing 2011 Blu-ray changes.

Info: Theatrical AOTC Discussion Thread

Recently found on this thread: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/ET-35mm-Feature/id/52785

The seller of the 35mm ET 2002 cut also has Episode II AOTC 35mm with DTS soundtrack, although the DTS is nothing that isn’t already available.

The price is $975.
It is unknown how many reels there are just yet, although judging by the price I’d say it’s all 6 reels.

I’m kind of ashamed right now. I’m a 23 year old and been a fan for some 15-17 years by now and only TODAY I discovered this. I thought they were renamed back in 1997-1999, when the whole Prequel thing came to life.

There’s definitely no shame in thinking that, because while the episode number has always been there for ESB and ROTJ, they were never marketed as such until after the prequels - the first time an episode number was ever seen on a home-video release cover was the 2000 VHS re-release of the ‘97 SE, which had covers that tied in to the look of the Phantom Menace VHS release.
So, the episode numbers were there in the crawls but they were never really a part of the films’ names - they were called The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi until they were effectively renamed in the early 2000s.

All true. Thanks for the additional info.

Man, I wish I owned that 2000 set again. I had it as a kid, so I have major nostalgia for that set even it was the tainted 97SE 😃

I have recently discovered that Mike has dumped the Legacy project and has given his full attention to a restoration of the classic TV show “Space: 1999”.
In an interview given last week via podcast, Mike had this to say about his sudden change of projects:

“Some months ago I had shown my son ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ for the first time. He really didn’t seem to enjoy it as much as ‘Star Wars’. About 3 weeks ago we were both watching an episode of ‘Mystery Science Theater’ and it was 2 episodes of “Space: 1999”. Well my son became completely entranced and excited about this movie and said to me “Dad, you should do that instead.” Suddenly a light went on in my head and I suddenly realized I had been wasting all my time and effort on ‘Legacy’ and had forgotten all about a show that was always clearly better in all respects. The acting, special effects and plot in “Space: 1999” were always leaps and bounds beyond anything Lucas has ever done, and I’m ashamed I had forgotten about that series. Guess I’m getting forgetful in my old age (laughter). So I’m here today to publicly let all the Legacy fans know that I am officially terminating the Legacy project. In the coming weeks I will be taking down the Legacy website and putting up a new one dedicated to this new project. My Vimeo site will likewise also undergo a complete overhaul as I intend to use that as a sort of video diary of my progress and work. I understand that a lot of you in the OT community and other “Star Wars” sites are really going to hate me now, but I have to follow my dream, my passion. I hope many of you will come to share my enthusiasm for this new project, and come to love it as I do.”

I had a few private chats with Mike and tried to get him to at LEAST ‘accidentally’ release Legacy but he told me that he had already deleted all his external hard drives containing Legacy in order to make room for “Lunar” (his codename for the new project). Apparently the show lasted for 2 seasons and he was going to need all the space he had…and more…for his endeavor. I told him that he would probably become vilified by the OT community once they learned of this…but he just laughed and told me there were ten times the number of fans for “Space: 1999” than there are for “Star Wars”.

Anyway…I did TRY to get a copy of Legacy to share with everyone here but it was a bust. Sorry to be the bearer of such terrible news…this is truly a HUGE blow to the Star Wars community…and me personally. I’m off to get stinking drunk now…

I give your shitpost 3 out of 4 stars 😃

I’m confused, why are the last several posts not about getting myspleen invites?

Actually, why are there any posts in this entire subform not on that subject anymore?

I think Myspleen is down at the moment. I tried typing the website in and it says that their servers are busy. Also, waiting on that code folks! 😄

I’ll let my favorite Looney Tunes character respond to this:

I foresee a possible 50GB BD disc for each DE 3.0 film with all the audio tracks and commentaries (1 disc per film), paired with a complementary 50GB BD disc for all the special features for each film (1 disc per film), resulting in 6 discs. At least, theoretically. I haven’t done all the math involving current items and size yet, but this is a start.

Yes.

This + schorman’s PCM audio = maybe the best version of From Star Wars to Jedi yet.

I just need a DVD-5 VOB format version but also with PCM audio since I am making my own Despecialized DVDs loosely based on the UK VHS Executor set.

P.S: Can you also make some DVD VOBs for The Making of Star Wars… as told by C-3P0 and R2-D2, SP FX - The Empire Strikes Back and Classic Creatures since I can’t convert the versions from the Blu-ray since my PC is very weak and can’t convert and/or HD video let alone SD and my PC would crash if I do.

I’m not trying to be rude here but this is the second thread in the project section where you “want” all this stuff, specially done to your liking, but I don’t see you offering much in the way of support for the folks your asking to do it.

You haven’t been a member here terribly long. You might want to consider a new strategy, otherwise your requests are going to become background noise to others who might consider helping you some.

Just something you might want to consider.

Your idea seems good enough.

But I am trying to compile them all in preparation for my own Despecialized DVDs.

Thankfully for me, my DVDs will only have the Definitive Collection’s bonus features except for the art gallery but I will also put The Making of Star Wars, SP FX - The Empire Strikes Back, Classic Creatures and From Star Wars to Jedi.

He’s mainly referring to your tone. You come off as something of a spoiled child when you’re talking about how you “want this” or “need that”, whether you realize this or not. You are obviously passionate about the things that you talk about, and there’s not a thing wrong with that. It just gives some of us the wrong idea when you’re asking others to essentially “gimme gimme”. But I want to give you the benefit of the doubt since you seem like a nice guy on the whole. And I don’t mean to sound rude by pointing this out, by the way. This is just me trying to politely help you get the things you want done in a way that makes you look better in the end.

Here’s a silly question. How do get to the PM’s?

You just signed up and all you want is an invite to get stuff?

😦

This particular question was where in the profiles do PMs show up.

But yeah. I downloaded versions last year and saw this thread and asked for a myspleen invite like many others have.

The problem I have is that none of you will be contributing members here because all you want is a spleen invite. Sadly, we have people still giving them out willy nilly, and that sucks for us.

😦

I’m not sure I see the downside. You get new members to the forum and maybe give them a chance to contribute. Some will. Some won’t.

At the end of the day people just want to download and experience the project.

If I need 50 or 100 or 500 posts before an invite we’ll so be it.

Meanwhile I’ll go back to watching ANH v2.5

The problem is that people ask for myspleen invites from existing myspleen users, download despecialized, maybe seed it or only leech it, and then never leech/seed anything else on the site. The site owners hate these kinds of people because they dilute the value of not only having a private tracker, but having one of the most unique and vibrant trackers out there, myspleen. Jetrell is right to be upset, and I echo his sentiment. If you are asking for a myspleen invite, be prepared to fully contribute. If you just want despecialized, there are other official and unofficial means of getting it.

This goes for everybody else asking for myspleen invites in this thread, too. If you truly wish to join myspleen, then please do not just hit and run the site for despecialized. Stick around, seed, and look for other cool things to grab and seed. Maybe even upload something, too. There are many ways to contribute to myspleen, but hitting and running is a cardinal sin on this and all other private trackers.

Info: Jaws - PCM mono track

If there’s any interest in a preservation, I have both the Signature and 1995 letterbox LDs and can capture the raw PCM mixes. I also have the rare 2 hour cut of THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING, which was recently released on the Blu-ray, but was cut down by Universal and rescored due to licensing issues. I think a definitive JAWS Blu-ray could be made with the resources on this site.

I agree would someone be able to get all the available tracks and have them sync up to the blu ray, sort of like Harmy did with despecialized where he included many different mixes ? That I’d love to see the ease of just popping in a disc and selecting what track I want seems like a lovely way to watch Jaws over and over listening to a diff track every time, needless to say if this happens I know what I’ll be doing that weekend lol

I second this.

Can’t wait to have it! I’ve downloaded most of your other laserdisc upscales and they are top notch. Keep up the good work, and merry Christmas!
