Hooray! Looking forward to it.
Hooray! Looking forward to it.
I don't think so. The artwork fills the whole case, so the dimensions would need to be taller. Also I think the Criterion cases have a wider spine (not sure of the exact width).

Okay, so just had the idea to possibly put EyeShotFirsts artwork with Harmys Despecialized Version in to clear Amaray cases that you find sold by the Criterion Collection.
Anyone have luck with these Amaray cases? Same dimensions as the regular blue Blu-ray cases?

I'm sorry I've been postponing these so much. I've been in a lot of funk lately.
No problem! The box looks great, just like I remember it. Did you make it from scratch, or did you reassemble the VHS box?
Aluminum Falcon, if you go back a few pages to page 167, ChainsawAsh and dark_jedi have posted links to them. I checked dark_jedi's upload link (post 4162) and it's still active.
I use Lightscribe as it's my current best available option without buying a new printer. I use gold DL Verbatims, and the results are very good (although it's obvious that it's a bootleg disc). That said, I would much prefer to have colour labels that cover the entire surface of the disc (Lightscribe discs have less available surface area). But it's still better than using a Sharpie!
Regarding the colour, it's comparable to printing in Grayscale, but with whatever colour your disc is.

A great job on all you hae done with the films and the covers. You really knocked it out of the park. I also had a great time reviewing the ROTJ work print.
Here is the finished product sitting on a shelf next to DJ's wonder work.

I'm looking forward to this Harmy! Thanks for all of your hard work on this project.

My vote is for A.
Thanks for the input. I probably won't be getting one until Boxing Day rolls around, but I figured I would get started on my research ;)
Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it!
Just checked online, no mkv support on the Panny :(
I'll definitely be looking into the Popcorn Hour though. Thanks for the tips guys!
To be honest, I haven't ever tried burning an mkv to my player. Looks like I have more homework to do. I have a Panasonic DMPBD60 that supports AVCHD.
Thinking about getting one. I'm assuming some of you must have them since lots of members ask for (and release) projects in .mkv format...unless they all use home theatre PCs.
I've been looking at the Western Digital ones, and my co-worker swears by his Patriot Box Office (heavily modded).
Does anyone have any recommendations/horror stories?

I think the new font is better, but the words shouldn't be nearly as thin and tall, and the font size should be small enough to fit under "Bill."
Just my $0.02.

I see there's been a few comments saying QtheGaijin's picture quality is poor, but that's certainly not the case with the dual-layer that I have. It looks very, very good indeed, so I just wonder about the ones that others have gotten hold of.
I found mine through fanedit.org (RS links) and burned with ImgBurn and it looks terrible...might I ask where you found yours?
I was just using the tools I had at my disposal to create something for personal use, and decided to share the results. If you'd like the art to go all the way to the centre of the disc, I can upload the Nero files and you're more than welcome to modify it to your heart's content.
Here's a closer look at what the text on the discs looks like:
I built these for myself to use with Harmy's Despecialized Editions when they're complete, using some previous art from EyeShotFirst, ChainsawAsh and Harmy (thanks guys!). Even though the cover is pretty much one image stretched to fit, the idea was to have Luke on the spine without text; it looks great on the shelf.
Keep in mind that I only had Paint, IrfanView and Nero Cover Designer to work with, so these are only low-res screenshots cropped from Nero. (The white lines along the spine don't print). I use LightScribe, so that's why the disc art is cropped in so close to the centre. The different colour schemes for each movie also don't show up in monochrome.
Comments/suggestions welcome! I know I have wasted space on the left side of the cover but wasn't sure what to do with it...

I would also recommend checking out the following:
Adywan's ESB theatrical recontruction
Harmy's ROTJ theatrical reconstruction
Harmy's 720p Despecialized ESB
They aren't "pure" theatrical versions, but they're pretty damn close, and the quality is much better than the GOUT (granted I still haven't seen DJ's V3).
Even my wife, who is only a casual SW fan and thinks I waste my time checking out everyone's preservations and edits, was impressed by the ESB DE when I was skipping through and checking it out last night. When I switched it off, I got an angry "Hey! I was watching that!"
So in short, congratulations on an amazing job Harmy!
Last night I had a few parts that were unavailable as well, but by the time I got up this morning they'd sorted themselves out.
