Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

AVCHD was chosen as the highest-quality format for the 1.0 versions.  It was chosen because it could fit on a DVD9 and then be played back on many Blu-ray players.

With 2.0, the DVD9 size limitation was abandoned, allowing for less compression.  Currently the highest-quality format in the 2.x series is MKV, but there will also be a Blu-ray ISO in the future.  AFAIK they will have the same video quality, although the Blu-ray may have better audio options.

It sounds like you've found the best versions of all of the films, as they stand right now.

I don't post here too much, but I do check regularly for any info as I patiently wait for Harmy's masterpiece, but I have to say, CatBus, you are awesome for always being nice to people and taking the time for well thought out responses.  Cheers to you!

What would Darth Vader have been like as a ruler, if he had overthrown emperor palpatine and became the emperor/ruler of the galaxy himself??
Time

Vader needed Luke to rule, because most people wouldn't be too fond of having a Big-Black Cape-Wearing-Part Human-Part Robot-Dude With a Creepy Breathing Apparatus being in charge of the Empire.  Luke would have been the pretty face that everybody would have been OK with, but while secretly being evil with Vader as the puppet master.

This is also why Vader never was able to overthrow the Emperor himself, because he knew that the people would not get behind him at all.

Recasting our heroes

These are all good points on either side of the coin, but what I have read is that Episode VII is only a "working title" so we still don't know if it's a continuation past ROTJ or if it will be something else entirely.  Personally, I would like to see it as a continuation and hope that they bring back Mark and Carrie at least to make all of us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Star Wars - Episode VII - FACTS IN TOP POST

Remember when Obi-Wan altered the signal in RotS to warn any remaining Jedi to stay away from Coruscant?  Maybe an older Luke (having ensured stability in the New Republic) could embark on an adventure to find any Jedi that remain in hiding, with the ultimate aim of establishing a New Jedi Order.

I have a feeling that most of those Jedis would be fairly old by now.  Obi-Wan was relatively young when that happened.  Still sounds like a great premise for the movie though.

Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years

After initial HOLY F**k reaction this might not be so bad. If fox has the rights to the existing movies and Lucasfilm keeps operating as independent unit then these excellent projects on this site probably can continue, which is the main priority to me out of anything SW-related.

As for new movies, the universe is large enough to tell new stories and it's interesting to see minimal Lucas influenced movies. Could be good. I don't think there is need to follow EU that closely though. I read the books up until first NJO trilogy when I was younger and never cared about them that much. Didn't they have like 3 new Death Stars in books. New republic was still using the same ships as rebellion. The EU didn't seem to have enough of it's own life. And lizards blocking the force..I think they should do their own thing with Ep. 7.

Yea, you're probably right.  They can continue until 2020, so we have just over 7 years to finish all of these wonderful projects! Let's get crackin!

Not to come across as a complete ass-hat, but Harmy if the stakes were a date with 22 year old Carrie Fisher, when would you bet we'll see a seeded release?  Thanks again!

I'd love to be able to say that as soon as I get h_h's audio but here's the reason I'll be re-encoding the whole thing from scratch.

I'm not happy :-/

It's not in my lossless source files, so it must have happened during the encoding.

Oh and I guess I actually will put all the soundtrack in the MKV, if I can put them all together before the release.

Is this one of those Magic Eye pictures? If you hold it really close to your face, and back away slowly while looking cross eyed, you will eventually see GL giving the finger!
