Okay… after seeing the panel, hearing about the Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood influences and seeing some stills of the characters… this is hands down the most exciting thing about Star Wars easily. This show seems to tick every box for me. It’s going to be a long wait till November.
Okay, here’s my theory. There’s a big showdown in the guts of the Death Star, all the Force Ghosts are present, everyone’s about to be blown up or something, and then Kylo has a big change of heart and self-sacrifices so that his beloved Rey (and co.) can escape. As he does so Palpasnoke is screaming “no, you are Master of the Knights of Ren!” and Kylo - just a Leia’s theme/Force theme mash-up swells - says “I am a Skywalker, like my mother before me!” before going kaboom.
If this happens, I’ll never love again.
When the Knights of Ren were mentioned the first time, I always expected them to be like mini-bosses in each film. Then have the classic final boss fight vs. Kylo in Episode IX. But that’s just too generic, I know. I’ve played too many video games, haha!
I’m just amazed that they have had only one appearance so far (in a Force vision, of all things). Now that I know Palpy is back, I don’t know if I really care about the Knights anymore. I think I would’ve liked seeing Rey take on the Knights + Kylo in the final act rather than Darth Sidious playing mind tricks throughout.
By the way, what are your guys’ thoughts on the theories of Palpatine just being a mere front for Plagueis all along? Or Palpatine being Plagueis himself / resurrected über vers. 2.0?
If TROS is truly amazing, could The Last Jedi become sort of Attack of the Clones for binge-watching? I wonder if you can enjoy 4, 5, 3, 6, 7, 9 without losing too much of the story? Probably a futile thought because we have amazing edits already available which make 8 quite enjoyable.
Kyle Katarn saga, Knights of the Old Republic, The Force Unleashed… hopefully I can add this one on the list as well. The Second Sister Inquisitor + Purge trooper designs looked cool, always nice to see new versions. Upgradeable lightsaber and buddy droid, awesome! I guess now it’s time to cross my fingers and hope for minimal EA interference on rest of the development.

I know that you shorted this slightly, but to be honest, I still find it longer than it needs to be. I keep screaming at my TV, “Just get up and go grab the damn thing!” Two kicks or so is fine, but right now, it is still too long, I think. I’ll be honest, I always thought this scene was too silly. BB-8 starts popping new fingers into every socket on the board, only to use his whole head which magically fixes the problem. It was just too slapstick for me. The best fix I’ve seen of this is one that I’m almost afraid to mention because of some controversy regarding the faneditor creating it. Regardless, the actual change itself [watch it here] is really great and is one I’d love to see happen someday.

Yes, I can understand this point of view as well. I just thought that it would be much simpler to wash our hands from it all, have no mention of the project anywhere on this site. Only because this thread is like the 2nd/3rd result (for me at least) on Google when you look for the project, in case the Mouse gets interested. But yeah, we definitely still have every right to talk about it and voice our opinions.
If we really want to distance ourselves from this particular edit… the thread should be removed by mods or at least lock it down (in my opinion) because it pops up easily on Google searches. The editor in question doesn’t even visit this site anymore (Last activity 14-Jun-2018) so there’s really nothing to gain by continuing discussion about any constructive feedback or his unconventional practices.

I was humming Imperial March while making breakfast this morning and thought about watching DigMod’s Rogue One edit later today. Then I realized that there has been at least one introduced species / moment in almost every Star Wars movie that just didn’t work on me.
The prequels had Binks, the whole Gungan experience, droid factory etc, ROTJ had Ewoks, TFA had Rathtars, Rogue One had Bor Gullet, TLJ had Porgs + Space Leia and Solo had L3 + Han speaking Shyriiwook and getting his last name from an Imperial officer. Luckily most of these “problems” have been solved by some amazing fan edits.
I am also very interested in seeing this because of the editor in question and the amount of L3 cuts.
If I may ask, was there ever a thought to do something about Han speaking Shyriiwook (or is that even possible)? Personally I could definitely live without ever hearing that part again, haha. But the amount of L3 cuts in the list really brings me joy.
For those who didn’t like Phasma, they probably won’t care and probably just be happy that she is gone. And if she does show up, then it still works because she could’ve just gotten extremely wounded by all the destruction in the hangar.
If / when we see her again, I bet she will start with:
“FN-2187! I remember what you did to me in Episode VIII!” 😄

Probably couldn’t play it on everything depending on the encoding settings of the two edits (which might preclude this from being doable at all without reencoding first at equivalent settings), but it should work on PC software players like MPC-HC.
Yeah, I’ve mostly been using MPC-HC with long-ass HDMI cables for my TV. Then after a while, I learned that Plex is a thing, haha.

Would you possibly consider switching the opening scene “General Hugs” joke back to how it was in Hal’s version? I just compared the two and the prolonged “Hugs with an H? Skinny, pasty guy?” stuff still managed to get a little too cringey for my taste. Totally not as badly as in the theatrical version. But personally I liked Hal’s take more because we get the glimpse of the loading bar which already implies to us that Poe is stalling.
I wish editing was as simple as copy/paste so I could just blend the scene in myself. But I totally understand if you want to keep it the way it is. But yeah please, no need to touch Space Leia. Your version is fantastic at moment (in my opinion).
EDIT: Oopsies… I just read your explanation regarding the opening joke in the change list. I can respect us having quite different opinions on it, hehe. I just wish I had the know-how to blend in the more trimmed down version myself. 😃

I think I read someone’s dumb explanation on why they bought a similar product (someone else’s fan edit etc) online. It was written something along the lines of “downloading / torrenting is illegal so I wanted to buy it to have it physically on my shelf”. Such stupidity, argh. People don’t even stop to think how this hurts the community and Ady most of all. So selfish.
The most frustrating thing is that all the seller reporting seems completely futile. I’ve done it 4 times now. Ebay probably doesn’t give a shishkebab because they are also getting a percentage out of it, yes? Like Winnie the Pooh would say: “What to do? Oh, what to do?”
When I was fan casting future SW projects in my mind, I always pictured Pedro Pascal being Cassian Andor’s older brother for some reason. Probably because they are both latino men with moustaches (“That’s racist!”). Pity the timelines won’t match between the Mandalorian / Andor series. I would’ve loved seeing them share the screen. Cassian doing black ops stuff for the Rebellion and hiring Pascal etc.
Yeah, that Han nodding and Finn’s “Why you doing this? Huh?” is probably the most un-Star Wars-y moment for me.
I remember it being sort of “heh” the first time in the cinema but now it’s just sigh-inducing.
