The Last Jedi : a Fan Edit <strong>Ideas</strong> thread
Time

I suggest that somewhere in one of these edits, one of the characters say “I have a bad feeling about this”

Seriously, did Rian Johnson literally forget to add that in this movie? NOBODY FREAKING SAYS IT.

Later, after the movie was finished, i’ll bet he went “Oh shit! I totally forgot to add that line in this movie! Hmmm. I can’t add it to any of the lines of dialogue already in the movie… I guess I’ll just have to find a character that doesn’t speak english say it. Let’s see… I know! I’ll have BB-8 say it. It’s perfect!”

Come on man. Admit you just fucked up.

They sound like Panasonic discs made in Japan for distribution by Verbatim, and are reported to be good quality. Try at 2x speed and see if your PS4 copes with the layer break.

Alright here’s an update.
I burned Star Wars at 2x like you recommended and also made sure that no other programs were running on my computer. I put it in my ps4, and for some reason it is actually worse. My ps4 now doesn’t even play the little intro by harmy from the beginning. Instead, its just a black screen for a second like it is trying to read it and then immediately plays the menu. When I try to play the movie, or do any function at the menu, the entire thing freezes.

Then, I put the same disc into my bluray player, and whaddya know? It plays everything perfectly. I skipped ahead to the layer break in the movie, which was at the point where the stormtroopers are inspecting the millennium falcon, and to my surprise, there was absolutely no buffer this time. All of the audio tracks work and all of the special features worked as well.

So, by burning this one movie at 2x, I have made it almost unplayable on my ps4, yet at the same time 100% playable on my bluray player. Very very strange indeed.

Will post again when the other two movies are finished

Also, when I play my movie in an actual blu ray player, it is able to read the second layer, but just gets really glitchy around the layer break. If I let the movie play naturally at the layer break, it will freeze, but if I skip ahead a couple scenes, the rest of the movie will play fine on the blu ray player.

Have you tried burning at 2x speed? A number of forums recommend burning BD-DL (50GB) discs at 2x speed, even if they are rated at 4x or 6x, in order to reduce the chance of things going wrong at the layer change.

Also, I would recommend burning with ImgBurn software and “verify” turned on.

Out of interest, what is the media ID code of your discs? ImgBurn should be able to tell you this.

Bluto

I had my discs scanned with imgburn and it says that the disc id is MEI-T02-001. The max supported speed was 4x, so maybe that could be the problem.

Is anyone else here having trouble getting their dual layer discs to play on their ps4? Mine will play perfectly through the first half of the movie, and then it will try to switch to the second layer of the discs but just freeze indefinitely. I seems to me like my ps4 refuses to play the second layer of my discs. I am using Verbatim dual layer discs from Japan if anyone is wondering

If you are talking about playing the blu-rays on Xbox one, you can’t. According to towne32 X-box Ones are specifically designed to not be able to play burrned media.

I have no idea what their capability for playing ISO files is. Perhaps Towne32 or another member does?

Update after lots of hours of research Xbox one do allow burned blu-rays https://www.vg247.com/2016/11/04/blu-ray-bd-r-and-bd-re-discs-now-work-on-both-xbox-one-and-xbox-one-s/

Thanks. Guess that happened quite a while back now.

Also, I made the mistake of looking at the comment section.

Does anyone know how to get their BD-50s to play on PS4s? Whenever I put my disc in the PS4, it says Unrecognized Disc. Do you guys think it is because the videos are in .m2ts file formats?

If it’s a disc that works in another blu-ray player, it probably means your PS4 has a pickier laser than the other player. I’ve only used Verbatim discs and never had an issue. But lesser quality ones might have problems. My PS4 reads discs burned using the BD50 iso files.

m2ts files are part of the blu-ray video format.

Are you saying my discs are the problem with the PS4 not reading it? Should I buy a different brand like verbatim?

When you put the disc in your computer and browse the files, do you see a BDMV file on the root of the disc?

Yes, and a certificate folder. I finally managed to get it to play on my panasonic by updating it. Problem now is I don’t know if my panasonic can play dual layer discs, because up to the 1:05:32 mark, it is on the first layer, but after that, it acts like it is trying to get the second layer but then just goes back to the main menu.

It also looks like my Panasonic DMP BD60 doesn’t have the proper firmware support to play iso image files either. I’ll try figuring out if it needs an update or not.

This has me concerned about your method. Are you saying that your disc has an ISO file on it? Like you put the disc in and then mount the ISO and play that in VLC? You need to burn the image to disc.

Sorry, I think I may have written that wrong. For the vlc thing, I did in fact burn the disc in the burner. Later, I put the same disc back in the burner and had it try reading it through both vlc and leawo.

Update: YES THATS WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I NEEDED TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE ON MY PANASONIC. Kind of a pain in the ass though because I had to lug the fucker from the living room into my room with the router and then hook it up to my TV.

Yay, I no longer need to buy new discs. They work perfectly fine thank you guys so much for helping me out. 😃

Try testing your disc with a program such as that recommended by oojason above. If you use vlc (which is free and available as portable software - don’t know about other programs), then be aware that you may not get the main movie on njvc’s Blurays to play on your PC. But all extras and menus should work fine with vlc. My disc works fine in all respects in my standalone Sony Bluray player from about 2008.

Alright, I put my burnt blu-ray back into my burner and tried playing it with both vlc and leawo. What suprised me was that it actually played just like my iso file. Made me wonder whether or not it was the discs, or some sort of DRM problem on the PS4 and my old panasonic player. I was thinking this because I remember both being able to play the raw AVCHD video file that was like 8gb from HARMY that I burned into other discs.

If you have 7zip installed on Windows, you can right-click on any file and obtain various checksums. For the “Star Wars Despecialized 2.7 BD50.iso” file, I have the following details:

File size - 49,773,346,816 bytes
SHA-1 checksum - 2171 77D9 982C D6B0 23F3 02C8 3F1D B418 8AB1 A3DB

I “forced-checked” my file against the Spleen torrent with no errors, so the above figures should be correct. If your checksum matches mine, then you can rest assured that your iso has been downloaded and extracted correctly.

Bluto

I compared our file sizes and it appears that they are the same. I didn’t have 7zip, so I installed it and ran the checksum for SHA1 (took about 7min) and it said:

217 177 9982 CD6 B023 F302 C83 F1 DB4 188 AB1 A3DB (Spaces for ease of reading there weren’t any on the actual thing)

So it also looks like our files are the same also (hoping that I typed it right)

Leawo seems to play the movie and extras fine. The menus seem to work alright and I can play the features. I just can’t skip through the movie as it just stays on the last image displayed but the sound changes to the time I skipped to. Also, the chapters don’t seem to function as the result is as stated above. I’m not sure if this is a Leawo thing or something to do with my ISO. I still kept all of my .rar’s so I can extract it again.

Edit: Well I thought I still had the .rar’s. Apparently Windows doesn’t like it when you have both the .rar files and the ISO in your recycling bin. Now there are like 4 .rars left. Still have ISO though.

Alright, I’ve given it another shot as it looks like my DL BD supports 2x, 4x, and 6x according to ImgBurn. So I tried it at 2x with the verification at the end (It even gave me that cute little jingle I hear at the end of Jimmy Neutron episodes) but to no avail. I popped it into my PS4, and alsmost like dejavu, my PS4 couldn’t recognize it and when I put it into my Panasonic, I was able to get the menu to function normally like the other two I burned before it, and when I tried to play the movie or go to the features, It just turned into a garbled mess yet again. Honestly, I’ve lost all faith in these discs and I am pretty much looking at the 5 I have left like worthless clumps of plastic. I also looked up the specs of my Pioneer blu ray burner, and it does in fact burn dual layer blu-ray discs. I am pretty much convinced at this point now that it is 100% the discs fault as I cannot think of anything else that could possibly give me these results. Can any of you guys point me in the direction of some other more reliable 50gb discs that are printable?

Is anyone else having trouble getting these files to play on their blu ray player? I downloaded the Star Wars 50gb iso. I extracted everything fine and Imgburn let me burn the ISO to my 50gb dual layer blu ray disk, but after it finished (after about 45 min) and I put it into my PS4 to test it, it wasn’t recognized. So I brought out my old panasonic blu ray player to see if it could play it and it could barely play the menu with tons of frame skips and screen tearing. I tried to play the movie and The entire thing just froze. I assumed it was just a bad burn, so I burned another one. This time on 4x speed instead of 6x as well as closing all other programs in the background. It finishes (about an hour this time) and what do you know? The exact same thing happened. Does anyone know what is going on here?

I have done successful burns before on other blu ray discs. Do you guys think the problem is these discs?

Ok, so are you saying that the Blu ray’s content will just play one after another? I’m just curious with how it will all work out in the end after the BD’s have been burned

No, only the film will play when the disc is launched, the extras are added as rom content, only accessible via browsing the folders and files on the disc, on a computer and maybe some blu-ray players.

Alright, it took a couple days to download the entire thing, but it finally competed. I did find out that after I burned the files to my blu ray disks, neither of my blu ray players were able to access the other files on the disk, and I couldn’t find any programs online for my computer that would let me. Do you have any programs that you use to be able to access the other ROM files on the disc?

Does anyone here know why njvc’s Blu-ray files have been posted to MySpleen? I mean it sounds like a total pain in the butt in even trying to access the site, especially with all of the people coming here and asking for invites. Wouldn’t it be simpler if the files were uploaded to a more public site where everything isn’t invite only?

it would be easier.
if you read a few pages back (maybe more), njvc pulled his publicly posted files after all the crap that was being sold on ebay etc. I don’t envy him, feeling like your work work has turned into something that could get the wrong kind of attention is not a fun feeling.

Haha, yeah I just checked ebay, and what do you know? Someone is trying to sell their Despecialized editions for $100. I feel like someone should make an ebay account and post the despecialized editions on sale and in the description tell the people that YOU CAN LITERALLY GET ALL OF THIS FOR FREE ONLINE AND THAT THE REST OF THESE ARE SCAMS. It’s especially obvious since none of the sellers offer any sort of refunds.

“as well as textless artworks and logos, which you can download from thismega.nz link, along with the .torrent file for my BD isos:” this was taken from the front page. I went to his mega upload and got the torrent for his BD iso, but the problem was no one was seeding it.

Yes, my own ISOs, the one matching my covers, are still available via the .torrent in my mega share (here it is again:
https://mega.nz/#!49cCnZAA!RTiiwDy-vJ0gLc2Y0U6G7epKElYEg30EzspCgvFp2aw), and I’m currently seeding it, you can try it.
The only thing is that my ISOs don’t have blu-ray menus, the film plays directly. I compiled and added some extras as BD-ROM content, accessible via file browsing.

Ok, so are you saying that the Blu ray’s content will just play one after another? I’m just curious with how it will all work out in the end after the BD’s have been burned
