STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

That's a great idea. Better than what I can up with, probably:

As Obi-Wan opens the box, he says (taken from a bit later), "Your father's lightsaber. Your uncle..". Then when Luke asks what it is, "It is the weapon of a Jedi Knight.."}

Also thought of a few small ESB changes. Obi-Wan could say that Yoda was A, not THE, Jedi who instructed him. Later his voice-over could be "Was I any different.." (removing "when you trained me.") And Yoda could say "For 800 years I trained Younglings."

Yeah I also mentioned this one on the site, and it's IMO a minor change that fixes a large error.

I'm also for excluding any talk of "younglings".

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I never noticed that thing with Chewie in ROTJ either, and I'm a pretty picky guy. Cool...

The stormies in ANH do get a lot of hits at the beginning of the film, and I think we in some way respect them for that. But as for ESB, I don't think a single stormtrooper hit a single target... and that pretty much sucks. That's why I suggested, along with this change, that we have snowtroopers on Hoth take out a few rebels after Vader lands, in close-quarters style combat.

BTW great job on the Roque 3 change. Never noticed that either.

I like that saber construction idea, but I do have two points of criticism. One is that I would really prefer that a lightsaber not be put together in seconds, but in long weeks and months of work. This is how I always imagined it. In the deleted scenes, from what I gathered Luke was just making some final adjustment to his saber, not actually putting it together.

The second is that it feels a little too "in-your-face", like something that we don't need to see, we just get it.

Those are my 2 cents.

Btw, if you haven't had the chance yet, take a look a look at my site and see if you can find anything interesting there.

Actually the whole point of my site, and this thread, is to give adywan ideas for ESB:R, right? Cuz if he's not gonna implement them, I doubt we're gonna see them in the first place, unless the people at Lucasfilm do the changes behind George's back :)

But yeah, if adywan already decided not to implement an idea, we'll discuss them elsewhere.

Yeah I might just do that, although when I first posted Master Edition in 2005, I'd already looked over numerous lists and even discussed many of the controversial points in detail. If you have any particular changes that you've run across that have some merit, post them here or on the suggestions page on my site and we can discuss them.

I noticed that most of changes I mentioned on my site have actually been implemented by adywan :) Personally, I'm very relieved to see the Jabba scene gone completely, as well as the fixed arm on the floor, and the new Alderaan approach is awesome. That's just a few picks out of the many many things I adore about SW: Revisited.

What do you guys think of some of the other changes I mentioned that weren't implemented, like Obi-Wan saying, "I wanted you to have this..." instead of, "Your father wanted you to have this...", etc.?

Info: Star Wars - Master Edition... rebooted
Time

Hey, just wanted to let everyone know that after seeing the release of the Blu-Rays, I decided to re-upload and update my old site which some of you may remember, http://swmasteredition.blogspot.com

This time though, I decided to completely change the structure, and allow everyone to vote on changes they want to see, comment on the changes that are already posted, and of course post their own ideas.

I’m hoping that this will in some way unify the Star Wars fan community in what we all want/don’t want, and be used to make one final change to the Star Wars movies… whether LucasFilm does it, or Adywan, or a group of us getting together and making it happen, it’s all open for discussion.

Hope you enjoy it. For the fans, by the fans!

Heeey! So it looks like you guys are finally getting what you've been asking for!! Congrats! This site has officially succeeded in doing something what it set out to do! Awesome!

So now with the O-OT coming out to DVD, the only concern on my mind is the other half of the DVD boxed set, namely the 2004 editions of the OT. I personally don't think buying these movies again is worth it, especially with all the mistakes. I think the main focus of LFL right now would be to FIX UP the OT to and release it with the O-OT in an official, FINAL, OT boxed set. Releasing it in it's current form would not be a good idea IMO.

Any thoughts?

BTW, I think LFL took my idea from my very first post...lol!

"I havent read through your stuff on the PT, but if anything, changes should be made to those."

Hehe, take a look at the AOTC and ROTS pages and tell me if those are enough...

And yeah, I agree with you about the tying-up the loose ends, I made a clear point of that in the ROTS intro. I tried to take care of that through some of my changes. Take a look at the last one, the alternate ending. Although I think it's impossible to be made and I'm not sure if it would really be effective, but I think it logically takes care of the the things that have to be tied up.

As for the OT, yeah I know a lot of the changes a bit too much, but some are pretty much mandatory. Like lightsaber effects, etc.

Nice idea with Fett...but the probability of something like that happening is, as you said, the same as hell freezing over.

As for the family scenes, they're not logical to put in the movie for one very simple reason: she's gone to Naboo to hide. Her parents' house would be the logical place for a bounty hunter to look...if he were looking for her. I personally don't think they help the love story at all, because they don't deal with the issues that are facing the couple if they wanted to ultimately get together, which are their places in society...
The family scenes slow the movie down too much IMO, and not give any progress. Plus the scenes themselves aren't all that in the first place.

Agreed. Two versions should be released, either separately or together in a boxed set. One version that presents each movie in its original theatrical format, and another that plays out like a saga and fixes all plot holes...like Master Edition
This is the only way people would have a choice, and personally, I really want that choice.

"Also, no offence, but I think calling it the Master Edition indicates, to quote our favourite movies, delusions of grandeur As you've seen, plenty of people disagree with some of your proposals - just as they did with my edit. I wouldn't want any changes to be made to Boba Fett's death, or Han's Solo lines... and so on. The only person who can really lay claim to creating a Master Edition is George Lucas... unfortunately, which is why this site exists."

It's just a name, like Smith or something....so no delusions of grandeur intended I think Lucas would probably call it something like "The 30th Anniversary Edition" or "The Star Wars Mega Pack" or something like that, not Master Edition. That's MY name! I should copyright it...

"As you've seen, plenty of people disagree with some of your proposals - just as they did with my edit."

To be honest, coming from a bunch of people who are all for preserving the O-OT, I'm surprised that anyone voted for anything besides, "It sucks." Maybe it's not so bad...

Actually, I think my idea makes more cliche and more obvious. The reason I suggested it is because it makes what he says make more sense if the two lines were reversed.

I mean look at it, he says, "I'm not in it for this, and I'm not in it for that. I expect this, I'm in for that."

Now let's reverse them:

"I'm not it for this, and I'm not it for that. I'm in it for that...and I expect this."

I think it sounds a lot better, and is definetely more obvious than the first one. The original one to me feels like a mistake.

Adamwankenobi, still awaiting your post!! I hope you're taking your time because ur making it very detailed BTW, there's an identical copy of this idea on TF.N.

Agreed, reshoots would be hard as HELL. That's why I avoided that as much as possible on my site. If reshoots WERE possible...heck, I'd have so many ideas I wouldn't know what to do with them all.

"Changes that improve the continuity are all right, but this is, no offence intended, crazy."

Well here's the thing. The point of Master Edition is not to ONLY take care of continuity errors, but take care of little things that feel like you're driving on a smooth road and then suddenly hit a bump. An example of this is Boba Fett's death, which I think was a disappointment to everybody. It doesn't change to continuity of you change it, but it improves the character's image in front of the audience. The Han Solo line is a bit picky...very picky, but it's one of those things that, to me, feel like an un-necessarry bump on the road, and it's a bit...well...cringe-inducing
