Hey, not everyone is blessed with a copy of PowerDVD, and unless you took advantage of the New Year’s 90% off sale, it’s quite expensive. That kind of goes against your point for the “average Joe”. 😉

There are other free Blu Ray software programs for PCs. I’ve used a couple different ones. PowerDVD is the best one in my opinion, and it came bundled with my internal Blu Ray/DVD/CD drive I bought for my computer. Those are considerably cheaper than Blu Ray writers.

Many of us can turn off our modem and turn it back on to change IP address. Can you change your IP address to get around the download cap from Mega?

I guess it would be worth trying in the future when the next releases drop.

I’m waiting on the next release to download them. That will give me time to figure out all the burning stuff as my Blu-Ray burner has a bunch of settings I don’t yet understand. And it will also give me time to settle on the artwork. I’ve got an Epson 1400 inkjet to print my discs with.

The versions that are available now are quite wonderful. I don’t have them burned to Blu Ray discs but I have the 3 50gig ISO images on my PC running off an external hard drive through PowerDVD. The results are simply marvelous! I don’t miss out by not having them burned and for when I only want to see the films without extras I put the mkv files onto my media server which works just as amazingly. There is a plethora of options for enjoying these edits. 😃

A Bluray burner is $60 on Newegg. That’s pretty cheap nowadays. It’s not an unobtainable thing.

Good point, but why buy a Blu Ray burner just for these discs? Might as well just pay the $60 for the deluxe edition the greedy dude is selling and be done with it.

If you can buy a blu ray burner and learn to to burn discs you have acquired skills and equipment required to also burn many other projects to disc - ie, other Star Wars Fan Edits / Preservations on here - and are also in a position to even to help others out too, if so minded, and able.

Let alone not giving money to a bunch of freeloading money-grabbing leeches 😃

I absolutely agree. I’m just playing devil’s advocate for the average Joe. We live in a convenience driven society. Most people asking for discs are NOT looking for multiple fan edits and learning how to have an in home Blu Ray factory, they just wanna watch the original Star Wars Trilogy. 😃

Bandwith is terrible for many people too. Not to mention data caps and unreliable connections. Someone suggested going back and forth to a public library to download the files in parts, and that’s an option, but it’s not a practicle one. A good alternative to the mkv versions that I suggested earlier would be to download the full 50gig ISOs if bandwith and hard drive space isn’t an issue and run them off your PC through PowerDVD. If you have a good PC setup connected to your TV it’s just as good as having the physical Blu Rays.

It really isn’t difficult to find places where these are available for download. I think the biggest issue for people is burning them successfully and then creating those amazing looking box-sets that look nice on the shelf. All we need is a Blu Ray burner and three blank discs. Three empty Blu Ray cases, a printer, paper and ink. Given that printers are so common chances are, that part of the project is easier for the average fan. The problem is most people don’t have Blu Ray burners. Those are not the standard by a long shot. In point of fact, most newer computers don’t even feature DVD drives anymore. In my opinion the best option with the least amount of technical difficulty is to get the mkv versions and stream them via a home media server like Plex. The novelty of owning Blu Ray versions of these wonderful edits to place on the shelf next to the official Blu Ray set is beautiful, but not realistic for the vast majority of people who are requesting members of this site to create them. I’m not saying people here should do it just because it’s asked, but when certain websites are selling these discs for $45 standard and $60 deluxe it’s an example of a demand that’s putting the entire project at risk. I would rather pay someone on here who is willing to do it because they are good at it and want to help out a fellow fan. Better to pay you for your time and supplies than purchase them from a greedy dude making a living off of other people’s hard work.

I’ve been following Harmy’s masterful genius on this project for years and have never personally had any problems downloading the releases. The fact that other members on here seem to get so annoyed when people make requests for a Myspleen invite or the physical discs themselves baffles me. The project was created to be shared by fans and passed around freely. The notoriety The Despecialized Editions have been receiving in recent years is because the project as a whole is such a perfect example of pure love! It has made the dream of owning the original trilogy in modern formats an incredible reality. If I had a Blu Ray burner and major league Photoshop skills I would likely be one of those people helping to spread these edits around on disc to those who want them but do not have what they need or understand the process. I have become a mostly digital film collector in recent years, purchasing most newer films through services rather than buying physical discs. Often times I have pointed people curious about Harmy’s Despecialized Editions directly to the mkv versions because once they are downloaded, they can be played back through supported media players, with no burning, printing or plastic cases required. My point being that spreading this around freely is the best way to support it and prevent fraudulent websites from profiting.

Help: looking for... One Hour Photo (The Red Eye Cut) (2002) - workprint
Time

When One Hour Photo was first released in theaters in 2002 there was a workprint copy of the movie floating around online which featured radically different scenes compared to the movie that actually appeared in theaters. I’m interested in producing a fan-edit that restructures the theatrical cut to match the tone and eeriness quality of the workprint. The workprint is far superior to the theatircal cut in my opinion. I plan to call it The Red Eye cut due to the fact that red eyes thoughout that version are far more prominent. If anyone knows where I can locate a copy of that One Hour Photo workprint for this project, it would be much appreciated. I had a VCD copy, but it was lost several years ago in a basement flood.
