@Tyler0013, you’re using the Special Edition Empire logo for Empire on the spine, but for Return of the Jedi, it’s the classic logo on the spine, are you aware of that? Nice work though, I like the design. It reminds me of the VHS covers that were widescreen in Silver for the Special Editions.

Yeah, I do lol. Since the Art itself is reminiscent of the Special Edition I didn’t think it to be an issue haha.

^ Despite how good that looks, I personally won’t use it. The reason being is because of the picture. Even though it’s an amazing poster by Drew Struzan, it is still a representation of the Special Editions.

I agree lol. Yet I may do variations with other posters.

These are really great! I love them!

Thanks I really appreciate it! I’m still not too sure on the disc art. Any ideas to improve it?

Not sure, I think the disk art is Unique. Only thing I would say is to make the reels look a little more realistic. Besides that, the overall design is very unique and I would not change that base design

Plus I wish I knew how to blur the image bottoms like you did. I can’t figure out how!

I had an idea for a “faces” set for the OT (ANH would have Leia, Han for TESB, and Luke for ROTJ), but I don’t know how “relevant” it is anymore. A “face” cover could be either really good, or really bad. I’ve seen a lot of bad ones–specifically for animated movies–that didn’t make any sense.

Relevant or not, I would love to see what you come up with!

Love your work on these, they look great, and I have more than a little nostalgia for the early-90s VHS set, so those yellow logos really scratch that itch without the covers themselves being overly slavish to being duplicates of the originals.

One note on the other set that is more of a direct recreation of the CBS/FOX set: the spine for ESB has the title misspelled - “Strikes” shouldn’t have a C in it.

Oh, and those inserts and disc labels are beautiful.

AH! Thank you for pointing that out. I’ll try to correct as soon as I can. I am going to blame my dyslexia lol

Been working on this off and on for a few weeks, and I think it’s ready to share finally!

Here’s a complete set of simple Blu-Ray cases that should fit any version of the films. Minimalist backs - no features listings, taglines, or synopses. Running times for the OT are based on Despecialized (and the logo blocks include Harmy’s logo, so they’re obviously meant for Despecialized, but nothing else specifically states as such).

These are heavily inspired by phildesfr’s awesome covers, and even use some assets he graciously provided in his MEGA links, including his textless variation of the theatrical TFA poster and some of his logos. I did heavily customize his AOTC logo, and the ESB logo I used is literally the one on the poster itself since it ended up landing in the right spot.

As for other stuff, the TFA logo I used is based on Owain Wilson’s, the TLJ logo I used is lifted from one of Jim Titus’ designs, and the alternate TFA poster is by Grzegorz “Gabz” Domaradzki.

So here they are - I may have to edit this later because I’m just uploading the full-size versions to imgur and they might clutter things up (and imgur might fuck with some resizing, I dunno), and I’ve gotta get off to work right now. In case that happens, here’s album links:

“Theatrical logo” spines
"Saga logo" spines

Covers themselves, “theatrical logos” first:

The “saga logo” ones are the same except for the spines, so I’m going to just leave the album link up for that, but here’s the alternate version of ANH with the “saga” logo and ANH on the front logo:

Hope you like them, and if I’m stepping on anyone’s toes with these (especially phildesfr, since they’re basically modified versions of his covers), please let me know and I’ll take them down.

I really like the simplicity of these. Only thing I would change is adding a scroll or description of the movie on the back besides that. These are Great!

Do you still have the disc labels from this picture linked somewhere? The current dropbox link has different disc labels.

Do you happen to have the aforementioned disc art? I think it looks great, but can’t find it anywhere.

I have them somewhere. I will upload as soon as I can. I have to get them off a HDD. My PC died, so I haven’t been able to “work” on more stuff.

They all look wonderful. Is there any chance you can do a version of the despecialized editions with the poster art being reversed? I’d love to see TESB with this artwork on the cover: https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NLxOyEkRlgg/UBJ9cEmvW5I/AAAAAAAAKAc/eYGKwSo2cY0/s1600/Star+Wars+-+The+Empire+Strikes+Back+(1980)+Style+B+by+Tom+Jung.jpg

Hello HarveyPlissken,

sorry to answer so late, but I eventually took some time to work out and issue a set of 3 variations of the Trilogy blu-ray cover featuring Tom Jung’s posters, here they are :

The editable and printable PDFs have been added to my shared folder: http://mega.nz/#F!E1tVHZ4B!Jbegfsr8CGPvHKBZUX-yaw

Enjoy!

These are Amazing! Love your work. It’s absolutely inspiring! Looks like I need to make another set to use these!

Well Well Well. I will no longer (for the time being) be able to update or create new artwork/covers. My only computer has bit the dust. Luckily I was able to back up my work, but it is stuck in limbo. I know I am not a huge contributor to the community but I like to think you have enjoyed what I put out so far. Hopefully, soon I will be able to afford a new PC to continue bringing more to you all.

I will reveal that I have been working on a huge project, that I have little done with because I want perfection on it. I am making cases similar to the Godzilla Criterion Collection ( http://www.geekedoutnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/CriterionGodzilla03.jpg ) for each movie. They will have the pop out character of each movie. Hopefully, I will be able to have these one day to share and release the files to you so you can get them printed.

But again, for now, I will be on a creation hiatus. Thanks for all the kind words on the creations I have released so far.

Oh, yeah, I’ve seen that thread. I’ve even commented on it.

To be honest, I must have had a small mental lapse, as I didn’t make the connection that you were the same person who posted those.

Really, really awesome work!

LOL no problem. And Thank you!

Hi Tyler0013,

I noticed while poking around for disc art that your imgur link is down.

But also, after reading your comments about how you “don’t have access to Photoshop or anything” and “can’t open EPS files” I’d like to pass on a tip I picked up here on this forum.

GNU Image Manipulation Program or “GIMP” is a very versatile cousin of Photoshop which is completely free and can handle ESP files just fine. I recommend it if you’re still interested in making disc art.

Hope that helps!

Any and all tips are welcome! Thank you! But I did get access to Illustrator from a friend, that I have been using to work from. 😉 Now for the imgur link a bunch have changed. If you go this post http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Tyler0013s-Boxset/id/55421 I have links for all my current finished work

Just noticed something. On the Obi Wan leaflet, Chapter 44 should probably have a different title. “Luke and Biggs” fits the scene from the SE, but Biggs is not in that scene in the DE. It’s a scene between Luke and Leia.

But I do think your choices of shots for your cover art are superb!

I knocked up some chapter times for the DeSpecialized Editions a while back…

http://originaltrilogy.com/post/id/906562 (in this thread http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Inside-Covers-and-Inserts/id/47624 along with titles for ESB and ROTJ)

^ according to that ‘Chapters 24 & 44 were Chapter Titles with names from the Special Editions (‘Jabba The Hutt’ & ‘Luke & Biggs’)’ so may need changing - I just made up two titles to replace them in the link above.

Superb work Tyler0013 😃

AH! I’ll get to changing that sometime this weekend! Thank you for Pointing that out!

Big Update for the covers and Leaflet inserts. These are the backs to the covers that you see when you open the case. And I don’t think I need to explain what the leaflets are lol.

Here are the inside images for the covers

Star Wars Leaflets

Empire Strikes Back Leaflets

Return of the Jedi Leaflets

Still working on some Goodies for the set, not sure what they will be.

Hello there… First off… I love your Work!!! It Looks Incredible. How do I get your Leaflets in the full file size for my box set that I am trying to build?

Thank you for enjoying the work! Take a look at the OP and there are links to drop box with all the files!

Well, here we are. I have finished my set and it is now available to you all. I have spent a lot of time on this making this something special to me and hopefully something this community will love as well. This Is my custom set for you all to use!

The set includes:
1 Box sleeve for the 3 Movies with a guide to fold. (Box has been removed due to coming update that vastly improves Build design)
3 Covers with an inner image (if using blue case I recommend no inner image, I think it looks weird)
3 leaflets with a chapter guide on the inside
3 disc labels (my discs in image are placeholders, my CD printer died and only had these test one. yours will differ)
And 3 sets of mini lobby cards, 1 set for each movie.

I printed the Covers and Leaflets on a standard double sided glossy paper
The Box and the Mini Lobby cards were printed on a card stock similar to collectible cards. The paper was also a matte finish.

Without further ado here is the set!

PLEASE DO NOT DISTRIBUTE AND USE FOR PERSONAL GAIN!!! IF I SEE THESE ONLINE BEING SOLD WITH MY ARTWORK THE LINKS WILL BE PULLED!!! AND WILL BECOME PAID ONLY.

Link the Files https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lf7wt22od0th6rj/AACp2dnp_CPTB1JD0bnzH8CPa?dl=0

May get a few update with minor tweaks in the future, Mainly how the box is put together will be updated.

Update: links will be updated to fix typos I have found. Nothing major.

HERE IS SET OF ANOTHER VHS RECREATIONS!!! Actual Images Coming Soon!!!

Link to the covers : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wspphy6rs06u8nv/AAC4QxV4RAuwEG-abEFbTLBUa?dl=0

Here are some covers I have worked on in between my Box Set (currently undergoing some fixes).

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! Enjoy!!!

PLEASE DONT SHARE WITH OTHER SITES

IF I SEE ON OTHER SITES, THAT I DID NOT PUT THEM ON, I WILL PULL

The images below are uploaded at full size at 600dpi (oh cut off the white border)

Do you still have the disc labels from this picture linked somewhere? The current dropbox link has different disc labels.

Edit: Nevermind I got disc labels. Have you modified this for criterion??? Because I can’t find a clear 12.5 mm blu ray single case anywhere. And if not can you link me a clear 12.5 mm blu ray single case? I seriously can’t find it

Sorry it took a while to respond. Put a lot of my projects on hold. Work Life has taken over. Here is a link to the actual cases I used. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BO72XJ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Apologies for not getting those Disc labels to you.

PS. I have a HUGE project that I am picking back up soon. And hope to share with this community soon!

LOVE THESE! The PT is so much better than mine lol I have worked on some and I just can’t get it right. Look like I am using yours.

Thanks! Happy to know this set is gonna be used by other members, that’s the whole point. I’m also glad all the assets have been useful. Looking forward to discover new different sets on this forum.

Well without your assets you let us use, I would not have started to teach myself how to make my own covers. It’s all thanks to you!!!

Will you be releasing a package with these new files included? Kinda like your last release?
