I find AOTC such an ugly film that it’s genuinely hard to watch for that reason alone (as well as the bad dialogue). Every character looks like a Barbie doll. These screenshots actually give the movie real texture. Can’t wait to see the final product.

I watched the clips, and may I say, holy shit! They are amazing! I think that the skin tones in the Empire clip are a bit rosy, but I think that’s negligible since the PQ is so great. Can’t wait to see what comes out of this.

Lucasfilm refuses to release the originals- that’s something to get angry about. The colors for the TFA BD are slightly different from the theatrical version? People get angry. They’ll probably wait for 4K Blu-rays to become more commonplace and give it an HDR grade. That’ll piss off the nerds. (Us)

I just saw that for the Ghostbusters 4K UHD Blu-ray release, it’s going to have a Dolby Atmos track, even though the best you could get back then was stereo or 5.1 for a 70mm release. It made me think of how awesome Star Wars would sound in Atmos. We have the 5.1 70mm reconstruction readily available, so why not, if possible, remix Harmy’s DeEd into Atmos for those who want it?

Question: What is the difference between the AVCHD and the MKV, other than the file size difference?
Some people were saying that the LD was “cropped”, which isn’t the case. The Blu-ray release had (slight) open mattes, opening it from 1.85:1 (the original theatrical ratio) to 1.78:1 (the HDTV standard). Just thought I’d throw my opinion into the ring and say we should crop the BD to 1.85:1 to really get an “authentic” theatrical version.
The original aspect ratio is 1.66. In American theaters, this would have been cropped to 1.85.
16x9 is much closer to the original aspect ratio than 1.85 but in all honesty, there isn’t THAT much difference between 1.66, 16x9 and 1.85. You’d really need to be pixel peeking to notice.
Oh. I had no idea the negative ratio was 1.66. Still think that the 1.85 crop makes it look a bit more cinematic.
