I don’t know if this counts, but Olive the Other Reindeer had around 2 additional minutes of footage on VHS that’s not available on DVD.
Why do people find this to be good news?
- The chances we’ll get an official release of the OOT will increase by 1%.
- The lame X-Men movies will be force-fitted into the Marvel Homogenized Universe, pleasing the fanboys who think this is at all necessary.
- Disney will finally get their turn to mishandle the Fantastic Four.
And the Fox logos and fanfares finally restored and intact indefinitely to SW I, II, III, V, and VI! 😃

The following is a list of what has been changed in the 4K restoration of Phantasm:
-New sphere (pracitical effect, not CGI)
-Yellow paint bucket removed in the scene where Mike, Jody, and Reggie enter the spacegate room (though it can still be seen to the naked eye)
-Fishing line digitally remove when sphere impales the Tall Man’s assistant (it should be noted that the black dot on the sphere in the next shot is still present despite the released preview image)
-And this I noticed today; the scene where Michael puts his hand in a box at the fortune teller’s house and struggles to get it out while her granddaughter tells him “Don’t fear.” zooms in slowly shot after shot until he gets his hand free.
Phantasm III:
-On releases 2005 and onward, the “Phantasm: Lord of The Dead” opening title is now “Phantasm III”
-On the Well Go USA/Arrow releases, a digital correction was made to the frozen Tall Man’s eye:

Since this thread is about Fox being bought by Disney I think on a related note I’d like to ask: Why hasn’t Time Warner bought Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer? It would make perfect sense since Warner owns MGM’s pre-1984 movie library save for the ones produced by United Artists through Turner. It would mean having all MGM movies under one roof, plus recently the only thing that’s keeping MGM afloat is the James Bond franchise. Warner would also be acquiring Orion Pictures movie library which is currently owned by MGM.
Honeslty, I think Warner should. Makes sense.
There’s also the matter of the audio pitch; with the exception of the Warner/BBC release, all R1 DVDs and the Blu-ray present the original 3 shorts in a lower pitch due to being converted fully to NTSC/24fps. So if you can correct the audio pitch too, that would be great.
Maybe the U can stand for Ultimate.
At any rate, I like this idea. Seeing a film in different AR’s all at once, amazing. 😃

The shot of Luke I was referring to was during the line “I copy Gold Leader”, I was just giving a visual so you can find the error on the Y-Wing prior to that.

Speaking of that Halloween set, is there any way other than that set to get the first movie with the original mono track? Because I’m really not that interested in the rest of the set. What extras are exclusive to it?
The American version of the 35th anniversary blu ray has the mono track.
Not really. The mono mix on there is a downmix of the 5/7.1 remix.
If you want a single release version of Halloween on Blu-ray with the REAL original Mono track, the original Anchor Bay release is the way to go.
I don’t know if this was already covered, but the Despecialized Edition of A New Hope is missing a goof the original theatrical version had; after “Red Leader this is Gold Leader” line but before the shot of Luke, a Y-Wing in the background suddenly disappears for a frame or few.

While I personally don’t really like the idea of Disney buying everything, I don’t think they’ve done anything wrong with their acquisitions yet (LucasFilm and Marvel Studios feel way separated from the main company in my opinion and I think that’s intentional in their part) they don’t dare put the Disney logo on any SW or Marvel movie and seem to be doing a decent job maintaining all these properties that they have the rights to, basically they’re just treating these studios that they’ve merged into their own as separate entities in their own right while still under one main studio, it reminds me of touchstone pictures in a way which is/was (are they still around) owned by Disney but treated as its own studio or production company that being said I think we’ll be ok
First off, I agree 100%, just because Fox will be owned by Disney doesn’t mean it will be CONTROLLED by Disney. They’ll still let Fox do their own thing and not interfere, less they do a project together.
Second, Touchstone is still around. Their next co-production Glass is set for release in 2019. And again, if they released their Marvel and SW titles under that banner, it could probably help generate business even interest again for Touchstone.
