The "ADigitalMan Special Editions" DVD Info and Feedback Thread (Released)
Time
Nice work ADigitalMan. I've been spreading around copies locally.

It's obvious that you've put in a lot of time and effort in these edits. Thank you.

A few of us sat down and watched your Ep 3 edit last night. Needless to say, we enjoyed your edit very much.

I think the Shaak-Ti death scene addition is choice, but did you know that she shows up later in the film? Yeah, that's her in the Jedi Council hologram to Yoda on Kashyyk.

I really enjoyed Qui-Gon instructing Yoda to retreat from Sidious...brilliant.

props all around.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time
MagnoliaFan,

First off let me give props where props are due. Your edits are amazing, simply amazing. I've had Ep I and II on DVD for some time and they're favorites of mine and my friends to kick back and watch.

Secondly, I'd like to pass along a request that often pops up in alt.binaries.starwars for a posting of your Ep I and II edits. Seeing how you're already re-editting them, would it be OK if I posted the SL versions of Ep I and II on DVD?

I won't post them without your permission of course, but I think it would be wicked cool to finally get these out in a.b.starwars.

Thanks in advance MagnoliaFan.

CRC read errors?
Time
Hey gang,

My 2 cents for what they're worth...

My old Sony DVD burner created CRC errors, so it very well may be your hardware. I'd start out by going to the manufacturer's site and downloading any firmware upgrades.

If it isn't a hardware issue...it's like Rik said, bad media or buring too fast.

Here's the method that I'd try to see if the CRC errors are caused by the authoring...Try doing an extra copy of each of the DVDs in question and if the CRC errors show up again on the one DVD and not the other its an authoring issue.

STAR WARS: the alt.binaries.starwars thread
Time
Hey gang,

After some local Star Wars activities on my end...I'm back with a vengeance! I've been out of the loop a bit here but I will be catching up doublequick.

...as far as alt.binaries.starwars goes...
Here's what to expect in the order that I'll be posting:

- a complete reposting of Dr. Gonzo's "Making of a Trilogy vol.2" (I screwed up the par2 set on the first post)
this is starting to be uploaded tonight.

- all 3 WookieeGroomer split-screen DVDs will follow afterwards (pending other postings).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...as far as further volumes of "The Revenge Will Be Televised"...

- The second and third volumes should be done this weekend and posted on a.b.starwars
I'll send a set to Rik for distribution and I'd also be willing to send a set to someone to torrent them on Demonoid if anyone's interested...PM me.

And you don't find Sidious in the current Star Wars film fulfilling?

I too always have hit FF past the teddy bears in RoTJ, but Emperor Palpatine is and always will be the ultimate evil in that galaxy far, far away. He finally reveals himself to us in RoTJ and, you've got to admit, is a seriously nasty bad guy. If Lucas was directing RoTJ and had a serious RoTS hair across his ass we would have had the ultimate Star Wars movie there.

I saw RoTJ once in the theaters (a personal Star Wars low), because of the frickin' Ewoks. But on home video (granted...with FF) RoTJ is a great film. Palpatine alone was worth the price of admission, even with ewok deflation figured in.

Sith brings all of the elements in ESB and ROTJ that so entranced me about the Star Wars saga on the silver screen. I know it could use some slight 'cleaning up'...but "Revenge of the Sith' is a very powerful Star Wars film.

Looks neat!

In "Making of SW", do you have the two audio tracks, one with William Conrad and one with the new narrator?

If not, I always thought that would be a neat little project.

I believe that I have both on VHS...I should get around to putting them on DVD once I finish the TV Specials DVDs I'm currently working on. I distribute my stuff on a.b.starwars...I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Anakin's Father...
Time
In my response I mean no disrespect ADM, I'm a fan of your work and I value your opinion.

I think that the concept of midichlorians makes more sense to an agnostic such as myself. In my eyes it doesn't do any disservice to the mythos of the Force...in fact it reinforces it.

The midichlorians base the Force in the temporal world as well a spiritual world. It also goes a long way to explain why the force is so very strong in the Skywalker clan, it is an inherited genetic trait.

Anakin's Father...
Time
I have come to the realization of something.

In the current issue of Insider, MacDermott is asked about Anakin's father and he answers to the effect that there are enough clues for fans to connect the dots...
here's my theory.

The very name Anakin literally means "New Family" (ana=new kin-family).

In "The Phantom Menace" Shmi tells Qui-Gon that there was no father, Anakin was basically an immaculate conception. In "Revenge of the Sith" Palpatine tells Anakin the story of Darth Plaguis The Wise and how he was able to use the Force itself (via the midichlorians) to create life. Well his apprentice, Palpatine, is taught this then kills his master. So Palpatine had the ability to create life itself through the Force.

I believe that Palpatine used the Force (via the midichlorians) to essentially conceive Anakin to a slave in a remote backwater world, knowing full well that one day he would be a powerful tool in his plot to seize control of the galaxy. Palpatine loves saying "It is all going as I have foreseen"...so I don't think that he left too much to chance.

Also...in the novelization of "Revenge of the Sith", right before his fall, Anakin tells Palpatine that he is the Chosen One, and Palpatine responds with "Yes, chosen by me!" I believe that Palpatine, being the consummate manipulator that he was, would never have let Anakin exist unless it directly served his ends.

Here's a quote from another fan that I ran this by:
"in TPM when Jinn is recieving the results from Anakins Midichlorian count he is then amazed at the results telling Obi evrything about " NO Jedi has counts this high " soon afterwards when Obi ask " what does this mean ?" Jinn responds " I don't know " then turns to see Shmi standing in the doorway. Notice the music at THAT moment...... it is the SITH music. just for that brief moment."

If this theory is correct, then it is ironic that Palpatine created the very being who later destroys him.

If this is indeed what Lucas intended, it ties neatly into the archetypical myth of good versus evil...with evil sowing the seeds of its own eventual downfall.

I am boycotting EpIII.

Call me a naysayer, but I loved this film.

...and Warbler, good for you. I'm going to follow your example on an issue that bothers me...politics. I won't vote again until they get rid of electronic voting and restore paper ballots. I want to vote, and I know that if I never vote again they still won't bring back paper ballot, but I won't give the bastards the satisfaction.
