Trancers: Enhanced Edition (Mastered and Upscaled from the Vestron LD) (Released)
Time

Omega, your work is excellent !

I own the recently re-released Trancers trilogy dual-side DVD from Echo Bridge Entertainment.

Not only is your menu professional-looking compared to theirs, but the image quality from the LD that you say is sub par litterally KILLS the official release that is even worse than a VHS... and I used to own a VHS copy of Trancers, so I know what I'm talking about !

Doctor M, the original Trancers isn't a Full Moon Production, it is one of the last Empire Pictures productions, which, like Re-Animator, were actually thetrically released, although in a very limited run.

All the Trancers sequels that followed though were Full Moon productions.

Fellow members,
I just read The Digital Bits review of a documentary that's been uploaded in 7 parts on youtube. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents

just search for ''Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Review''

After reding this I had to see for myself and I find it brilliant (to paraphrase TDB)!

In my opinion, the guy behind it is right on the money on the values of Star Wars vs TPM, and has a great sense of humour about this all.

I urge you to read the review but also see it for yourselves.

And here is the Question : is this available anywhere on DVD format ?

Info: The Making of The Empire Strikes Back (Michel Parbot)
Time

No problem at all with sharing : I thought everybody had jumped on the rapidshare links from page 14...

http://rapidshare.com/files/24520234/Michel_Parbot_Making_of_ESB__Dutch_broadcast_.wmv

Dunno if the links are still active though.

Dubbed in dutch... I figure it could be redubbed

Transferred from an old VHS but watchable and enjoyable.

Unfortunately the subtitles are a bit big though.

Am I the only one who jumped on this ? or was it not good enough  ?

I'm sorry to hear that. I have spent countless hours searching myself, however I have no money to invest. BUT, we must not quit. What about the guy who says he has it and won't share it? Where is he?

Hmm... so I take that the avi file circulating from Norway of the Parbot Documentary (of which, like many other members, I have a copy) is discarded as not being viable of a preservation, right ?

Or is it that the goal was to get actual reels of it ?

Any thoughts ?

Being selfish, I'd say Hard Target workprint but it would take some image reconstruction to get rid of most of the timecode.
I dream of a composite of theatrical Pan & Scan for cleanliness and timecoded extra sequences cleaned to the best possbile.

Hope I'm not the only one voting for his one...

On second thought, the same goes for The Punisher workprint but God the images are dark !

Like Klokwerk I'm very much interested in your take on this preservation project.
That is the way I see it, preservation, and I'm all for it. Your project might not be the definitive edition, but I don't care : up until DVD came out I was delighted with my VHS copy of the film which I new was light years from perfect.

Please don't give up !

And by the way : the C.R. TV version is a must as a bonus !

Highlander 2 Renegade Serious Edition (Released)
Time
Unfortunately I haven't been able to get your edit : i do not own a premium account so Rapidshare is not an option for me :-( (ever thought about going with the Demons ?).

By re-reading your description of your cuts, here is what I did :

#3 : brilliant (and probably the way to go). Haven't seen your cut but I wouldn't stay more than 2 or 3 secs on the clowns.
#4 : I did the same
#5 : I did the same but the music cut is horrendous. I'm very curious to know how you worked around it.
#6 : I did the same and the music is blended seamlessly
#7 : Curious to see how it turns out. Yes the laughing seems justified but it's the ugliest of the whole sequence. I can see your point though as I ended up with a jarring music cut again.
#8 : Well, as I said, I've cut everything from after Quickening #1 till after the second and I'm very satisfied with the result. Maybe pasting Quickening #2 after #1 would give the idea of an extended one but since there is a pause when McLeod picks up the sword, I really don't know if that would work.

I also made a small cut during the sword fight on the bridge, again not to stay too long on the faces of the porcupines. Quick cuts on their faces make them look like punks and I'm very happy with that...

Yesterday I was actually thinking about going Zeist-less a-la-Renegade and apply your cuts and mine, just for the sake of it... So I'm actually interested in your version in more than one way !
The description you make of the subway scene is actually how I would have made it myself...

I might refine my cut before posting it on the demons so that you can have a look at it.

Let me know your thoughts....

Highlander 2 Renegade Serious Edition (Released)
Time
Hey Nom,

Okay so I wanted to see if the porcupine removal concept was of any value. So I loaded the ZSE version in Womble and started editing out.
I went very quickly and I'm probably a lot less talented than you on this tool but it DOES work.

Basically I cut all of the second killer footage (Police Car explosion, Hoverboard... and sadly... second Quickening). There are a couple of music cuts that I'm not too happy with and likewise I did not refine the beginning of the scene with an extract with the punks, like I said I would... maybe next time.
By keeping the 1st attack in constant motion (never stopping more than a couple of seconds on an immobile shot of a porcupine), it looks like 2 punks calling out on an old man and one of them performing a random attack on him... much better than Katana sending these clowns after the Highlander.

I encourage you to give it a try. My God with your cuts and mine, could I finally watch (and enjoy) H2 at long last ?

I always hated all of the over-the-top performances you're removing.... that and the stupid porcupine killers.

On top of your changes, the edit I dream about would remove all the close-ups of the porcupine killers (and the hoverboard chase), and the sword fight would be limited to the fewest shots to make it consistent with the Highlander 'resurrection'. As an intro to the scene I would use the low-lifes marching to Old Connor and asking him if he is Mc Leod. Somehow McLeod would be rejuvenated after their gratuitous attack on him.

I feel that Serious Version could do justice to the movie : You get my vote !
Personally I would let all of the Connery scenes as the only comic relief of the movie but that's just me !

PS : What do you think of my suggestion on the killers ?
