Info Wanted: Is there 5.1 surround sound on the Despecialized Editions?
Time

Rebelscum said:

I have not dvelved as deep into the soundtracks as some of you have…

I haven’t even listened to the Blu ray soundtracks… as I haven’t bought those infernal things… but are they better than the DVD soundtracks in any way?

Unfortunately I have no skills in video/audio editing to complete that big of a task like joining the DVD/blu ray soundtracks with Harmy’s version… and editing out all the unwanted gimmicky bits on the soundtracks. Who know… maybe someone out there will do this…

So you are both ignorant and unwilling to do what is required to get what you want, you’ve criticized the incredible work that Hairy_Hen has done and you’re also asking OT members to create a custom soundtrack to match your preferred SW experience.

What an awesome contribution your thread has made to this community…

kk650's Star Wars Saga: Regraded and Semi-Specialized (Released)

I like the “semi-specialized” concept, but don’t think colour is your thing.
Any chance you could separately release “semi-specialized” & “semi-specialized: han-solo-has-end-stage-liver-failure edition”?

Pretty sure you’re not going to get much help from kk650 after you’ve belittled his work.

I’m thinking of keeping some of the inconsistency of the film sources in the preliminary grade of Reel 2, since some of my final grades are extremely consistent across scenes, to the point that it looks like a modern movie. Star Wars was always inconsistent from shot to shot, and perhaps Reel 2 should reflect some of that.

I’ll be happy with whatever approach you choose to go with. Your corrected shots you have shared to date look terrific.

Estimating the original colors of the original Star Wars trilogy
Time

DrDre said:

Hello there,

There are exciting things happening behind the scenes under the Team Blu banner, that I can’t divulge at the moment. At the same time I’ve been taking it a little easier, after a period of intense development. Recently a much faster version of the color matching tool was released, and poita and Williarob are testing the color balancing/restoration tool. To be continued…

Does this mean that you are no longer working on recoloring the bluray?

Help Wanted: Requesting MySpleen invite (or other rules-abiding help) for rare antique theatrical AOTC TS by Centropy

The ‘team account’ didn’t produce anything. The talented people on the team did. And the entire team is welcome to post here under their real accounts. And some of them do. That also wasn’t a team account, it was an alternate account belonging only to negative1. He has several other accounts here: negative1 and rogue1. No one is being silenced at all.

Maybe this thread should be moved to the technical section since that seems to be what it’s now about. But it definitely has nothing to do with negative1.

Not just this thread, but every post in every thread in Fan Preservations that asks questions about invites to Spleen and how to burn DVDs and the like. There are rules about invite requests and a whole section dedicated to tech questions - admins should enforce people to use them!!

I’m a longtime fan of this forum and it has become seriously underadministered in the past 6 months. Tonnes of junk posts are diluting great discussion! You can pretty much post whatever you like in whatever thread you like at the moment.

Case in point - Idiots like Idontlikepocketsand can join and on the same day create a BS thread that breaks at least two rules of the forum and two days later it admins still haven’t removed it.

Towne32 you are a long time member and contributor and yet you engage with users that post garbage all the time. Why? This just encourages more users to behave in this way and ruin the experience of the discussions. Have some respect for the forums and stop helping these people!

And re my point about Negative1, I’m pointing out the double standards shown in enforcement of the forum rules not the specifics of what happened.

FFS! The admins ban a team account that produce wonderful restorations yet they allow BS threads like this?

This forum’s great discussions and threads are being totally diluted by off topic Spleen invitations and people asking tech questions out of their correct sections.

If admins are going to be strict on “rules” can you at least be consistent and be strict on all rules!! So tired of this BS…

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1
Time

Watched last night - it was such a pleasure to see Jedi in great quality without the atrocious SE additions and with a wonderful color grade!

I have to say that your color grading skills have come a long way since your first releases. I have actually looked forward to this the most since seeing your color treatment of ESB2.0.

Thanks again Harmy for your hard work and attention to detail to restore these films. I look forward to all your future releases.

FORUM SUGGESTION: New rule and thread for playback and technical questions
Time

I don’t know about the rest of the members but I am tired and frustrated with all of the OT forum threads being clogged with users posting questions on how to get releases working on their home AV setups. It makes it so difficult to navigate the feeds to find posts that are actually on topic.

At least a third of the posts in Harmy’s threads are people asking how to burn the Despecialized Editions to disc. It makes these threads impossible to navigate and creates a negative experience for the community.

Can we please create a forum rule where technical questions and issues with getting releases to work on disc or bluray players or whatever are limited to a dedicated thread? This will make the forum so much more enjoyable.

If anyone else feels the same way please post your support.
