TFA: A Gentle Restructure (Released)
Time

Makes sense. No need to make any significant Fan Edits for EP7, since who knows what the future holds for EP 7 & 8.
No point in editing everything, if you might have to do even more edits once each subsequent movie is released. I had no idea the Fan Edit community is quite massive. Obviously with technology and PC applications of today, there’s a lot more that can be done by fans, as opposed to 20-30 years ago.

It is most impressive.

Can Someone Explain the Map to Luke Skywalker?

I really despise the “R2 downloading the map from the Death Star” explanation. My headcanon is that Luke intended for Lor San Tekka to bring Rey into the fold at some point like Obi-Wan did with Luke and send her to Leia with the map. R2 was programmed to wake up when Rey registered on whatever sensors he’s got going on while he’s in standby mode, hence why he only comes to life when Rey arrives on D’Qar. Lor San Tekka entrusts the map to Poe at the beginning of the film because he sees that the shit is about to hit the fan, and either he wasn’t aware Rey’s presence being necessary for R2 to work or he intended to reach out to her after the fact and send her to the Resistance if Kylo hadn’t killed him. It isn’t airtight, but it makes some amount of sense for Tekka to ditch the original plan to keep the map out of enemy hands.

I like it.

Likewise.

ROTJ is the best Star Wars film... discuss!
Time

No worries man. Oh, I was fortunate enough to meet Dave Prowse at my local comic convention a few years ago. Funny story, I missed my first chance to meet him in 2011, because waited in line half the day to buy tickets to the convention. Luckily, he returned in 2013. I was pleasantly surprised to find out he also played a few characters in Dr. Who.
A series I remember watching as a kid in the 80’s, and being terrified of the intro music.

I saw Jedi at the cinema on its release and thought it was the best film i’d ever seen at the time. The jabba’s palace, rancor scene was epic at that time and the vader,Luke and emperor moment was immense. How people can say this is below any of the newer films is beyond me. It is part of the OT and still the third best of the lot. Lastly the figures sold were amongst the most collectable at the time.

I’ll just leave this here, probably one of the best scenes in the entire trilogy.

Great thoughts on ROTJ, & of course, an amazing scene. Though, I have to wonder, if Luke didn’t chop off Vader’s mechano hand, would he have still been able to function “normally”? Immediately after Vader’s hand is lopped off, he starts to breath heavily. It’s quite possible the mechanism tied to his breathing apparatus was now compromised. Also, the Emperor’s Force Lightning didn’t help.

Anyways, here’s a nice scene with a great group of people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBrLHMCTDAA

There was a form of Jar Jar or gungen in the 2011 version of Jedi?! Hmm, well, I only watched those Blurays once.

It’s in the redone celebration, when they cut to Naboo. Jar Jar and a bunch of Gungans are camping out on top of a rotunda and he yells, “Weesa free.” Dumbest thing ever.

Well, I’ll be checking that out now.
Edit: Yep, tis true, the gungans are there saying “WESA FREE”. I guess that was to be expected, since they had to include the PT locations in the celebrations.

It would be incredibly bad to CGI Yoda in ESB & ROTJ, and insulting to Frank Oz’s contribution to the Original Trilogy with his puppeteering skills. Also, a CGI Yoda in ESB would ruin the original look when you first meet him.
Your first introduction of Yoda, is that of a Jedi Hermit, whose been cooped up on Degobah for 20+ years. He looks dishevelled, crazy, and a little kooky. If they CGI Yoda in ESB & ROTJ, all those characteristics will disappear, and we’ll have a sterilised Yoda, like in the PT.

CGI Yoda works for the PT, because it’s newer, and the technology was there to do a great job of presenting a noble, gentile, wise, Jedi Master, Yoda. But, in the OT, it won’t add anything, but subtract the true essence of Jedi Hermit, Yoda, that everyone fell in love with, when they first met him with Luke.

Sebastian Shaw Force Ghost as it just makes more sense in every way.

I agree. Anakin was like 50 at that point so yeah.

Exactly, makes the most sense. Especially since, Anakin was still ageing in his Vader suit. The Dark Side will twist, corrupt you, but doesn’t inhibit you from ageing. Also, once they learn how to Force Ghost, they can choose how they want to look like.
Older Anakin wouldn’t want to appear as his younger, whinier self, because he realised how annoying he really was.

Finally, Luke wouldn’t know who was standing next to Yoda & Obi Wan.

When you were introduced to Star Wars for the first time
Time

It was sometime during the mid 80’s. I remember my uncle showing me a scene from one of the Star Wars movies on VHS. My parents had a copy of ESB recorded on VHS. Though, being a kid in the 80’s, I probably saw ROTJ more often than ANH or ESB.
I don’t have an exact timeframe, but I’m glad I saw the OT, unaltered, and that’s what sticks out in my memories.
