With this i think it may be possible to omit tho while lars family from the movie and just turn the quest to find shmi into a montage
Maybe one could cut together a prequel anthology series where each episode spans 35-45 minutes long and just make up one small story of the many told from episode 1 to rogue one and solo
Phantom menace could be cut into a really short flick about qui gon and obi wan saving the queen and fighting darth maul, just splice the opening and the third act into one 30-40 minute short or something
Thinking about this now, i gotta hand it to the prequels for inventing new biomes and Original planets, the idea of one planet being a single biome was charming and worked in the 80s but it’s really time for some creativity in that department

I might have a crack at doing some color grading samples and making a few sample clips to inspire a makeshift Lord&Miller cut, I have a few ideas that might work comedically.
Yes a new color grade would be one of my first priorities, I’m wondering if there’s any way to make edits that add jokes into the film or maybe some rescoring to make the movie more campy? Not sure though
Yes I agree, I always had the impression that the two films could have been linked to this narrative thread, I intend to introduce the beginning of the clone war using images from Battlefront II, I must try to use them successfully because I don’t have many images for the Battle of Naboo except those from TPM

Interesting, that would be cool to incorporate an invasion into AOTC, the seperatists hire a bounty hunter to send padme (the queen) into hiding, then they proceed with the invasion while she’s on tatooine. Maybe this would add some tension throughout the story of anakin and padme, giving the sense that they’re in real danger.
I could very well be wrong but a handful of the photos on some of those pages look strikingly similar to the actual movies, I’m quite convinced that the shot of luke looking through his binoculars is from the original film.

Because those are production photos, not film stills.
^ really , they look like photos from the film , it even says full color photos from the film . although there is one in there that has Vader without his cape while " sensing a presence " that was probably a still . These pictures are very much the way I remember the film looking in the theater . I think some may be production photos but not all , but I have no proof , do you ?
Some of them certainly are photos from the film, maybe someone could order copies of the books in the best condition possible and scan certain pages, then use DrDres color tool to match them.
Just a suggestion to return to the process of making the audience believe Anakin is dead.
I was thinking about not making Obi Wan kill Grievous and move the Grievous-Palpatine hologram scene towards the end of the movie. When Grievous says “But the loss of Count Dooku…”, it could be changed with “But the loss of Anakin Skywalker…” (taken from the beginning, aboard the separatist ship). And then Palpatine says what we know: “His death was a necessary loss. Soon I will have a new apprentice, one far more powerful”.
It could enhance the belief that Anakin is really dead, and that Darth Vader will be Palpy’s new apprentice. Of course you would have to make Grievous survive, but sill.
That would be interesting for sure, one way would be to have obi wan really fall off the ledge that him and grievous fight on, cut to the later scene where obi wan falls into the pool down below.
Or maybe the entire movie could be retooled, putting the grievous fight at the end and making that into the real climax, though the pacing would be really hard to nail in that version
I think when it comes to adding footage from other sources, you have to be really careful of continuity when it comes to cinematography and artistic direction, that’s why fan films are nearly impossible to incorporate into fan edits, the cinematography is usually completely inconsistent with the film at hand. Some of the best alternative star wars footage is from the video games cutscenes just due to the fact that the aesthetic of star wars is usually spot on there. Take for example the light side ending of force unleashed 2, there’s a scene at the end where starkiller talks to vader on the ship, and vader is tied up. Some shots from this scene are nearly photo realistic and could easily be used to replace a bunch of the shots at the end of ROTS if you wish to avoid using footage that REMINDS the audience of cringey moments.
It’s on the spleen I believe, man I forgot about that edit, it’s a shame it was never completely finished but it was preeeetty good still.

The Phantom Menace and A New Hope are probably the worst ones. I especially dislike ANH as a title since it was made up later and wasn’t the original title of the movie, but that’s how most fans recognize it now.
The problem is that no matter which way you cut it, it doesn’t totally work. Your solution on paper sounds like the best, but even if you cut out Anakin’s Skywalker name, there are a few too many hints - Padme’s pregnancy, Anakin’s being from Tatooine, the whole Lars homestead, and Anakin’s lightsaber (possibly the biggest one you can’t get around).
True, my edit won’t contain the tatooine part of AOTC, and with TPM being the most expendable installment in the series, you could avoid the tatooine problem by completely removing it in a hybrid edit. Padme’s pregnancy is pretty hard to get around, and Anakin’s lightsaber would pretty much need to get cut out and around as much as possible so that the audience never focuses on that hilt. That’s still a bit of a reach but I think it’s doable.
