Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) – ★★★1/2 (Ebert scale)

Good movie. The comedy works well and it’s a fun ride. Sam Neil is good, along with the rest of the cast. Good performances all around. I actually never knew that he was a New Zealand guy until I read some after watching the film.

I liked this too, really solid film. Forgets about logic towards the end but everything else is pretty great.

Regarding a poster: everything that’s not by Drew Struzan will be a disappointment. I still don’t understand how they were able to drop the ball on the TFA poster. Sad.

It was the worst poster in the history of posters, maybe ever.

Gosh, I don’t love the main TFA poster but I do really admire the composition! I cannot for the life of me think why Disney doesn’t commission Struzan to create at least an alternate (to the photoshopped official one) “main” style poster, they’ve got the money.

Rogue One * <em>Spoilers</em> * Thread

It’s rough but here’s a very nice video on how a Rogue One crawl could have looked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa-gaZLbeg0

Also, does anyone else think C3PO and R2’s cameo would have worked better if we passed them in the Tantive IV at the end? Similar to Antilles they could been seen briefly in a doorway or trying to get out of the hallway.

And after listening to Giacchino’s score on repeat I’m very happy with it. I think he did a terrific job of sparingly and effectively using the old themes while creating three new themes I enjoy as well as emulating William’s style.

A website with smaller images of the posters for informational purposes would probably fall under the umbrella of fair use. TFN has had a site with all the major posters, but not the more obscure stuff like posters sold in stores, and stuff only available through the original fan club.

I had the posters in the bottom right corner when I was a kid. My color choices with the magic markers might have been a tad off though. 😉

Yeah, TFN has an alright selection but it’s certainly not comprehensive and the quality is awful. A site with better information is https://www.cinemasterpieces.com/cinestarwars.htm but their photos are just that, photos. Most posters I have look ‘scanned’ rather than ‘photographed’.

Has anyone ever tried to collect (digitally) every official Star Wars poster released? I’ve been finding and saving them for almost year now and have about 50% of OT posters and the vast majority of the rest.

I was wondering whether people would be interested in a thread with a Google Drive link so they could download posters for themselves / possibly contribute towards building a high quality digital database of every Star Wars poster ever released?

I also have a good number of awesome alternate Star Wars posters too but I imagine they may be legally iffy to share since many were/are available to buy.

Suddenly a light went on in my head and I suddenly realized I had been wasting all my time and effort on ‘Legacy’ and had forgotten all about a show that was always clearly better in all respects. The acting, special effects and plot in “Space: >1999” were always leaps and bounds beyond anything Lucas has ever done, and I’m ashamed I had forgotten about that series.

but he just laughed and told me there were ten times the number of fans for “Space: 1999” than there are for “Star Wars”

And I (well not just me) thought the best restored unaltered version would finally see a potential release on Blu-Ray from Fox and Disney. I’m saddened at this sudden news. 😦

(Back to panic mode) … Please tell me you’re kidding.

Question - you said it could be scanned if you brought the scanner to him - what if we paid to fly him out to the scanner instead? If that were possible it’d cost a lot less, but then again I suppose he may not be able to keep the film as check baggage which would an issue.

The issue is that he won’t take the film out of his storage room except to watch it, and then it goes straight back into cold storage again.

so wait for winter? :p

“Queensland” :p

Why would you want to understand a Lynch film? That’s like wanting to understand a Dali painting or an Escher print; it takes the funny right out of the experience.

Hmmm, I generally don’t enjoy films I don’t understand or have any solid grasp on. The exception is if the technical elements are aesthetically pleasing enough on their own - then I can still enjoy myself. I guess I have a desire to be able to comprehend most things. If I am unable to understand why something is happening or what something means I feel like I am unable to care. That’s not to say I need everything be easy to understand or that everything needs to make perfect sense, I’m talking about when I have no idea whatsoever is happening.

It sounds a bit like “Until the End of the World” (1991) but all jumbled up.
It also feels a bit like “Mulholland Drive” (2001)
After Hours (1985) has a similar vibe
None of these are total fit but they are all good movies so what have you got to lose?

Ok, thanks for the recommendations 😃
I’ve had Mulholland Drive on my to watch list for quite a while so I’ll have to check that one out soon! Is there some context I should know to make the film easier to understand or should I just experience it raw?

Oh and thanks Lord Hasbro for the existential trip 😛
