It’s still a work in progress. My goal is to collect every official poster ever released, in the highest resolution possible. I think it would be great to have a comprehensive database available online.

Interesting that Nolan himself is instigated in the production of this remaster. Maybe we’ll see a theatrically faithful version yet?

Just saw the news. Surely if Nolan is ‘“very much” personally involved’ he’ll stick with all the IMAX shots he can…

Thanks Frink. The latest Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum looks really great. That and Cyberlink’s PowerDirector 15 Ultimate seem like my best two options at the moment!

I’ve never bought any editing software before, having chosen to just suffer through Windows Movie Maker (with some help from iMovie which I don’t have access to regularly) for my own little projects and Uni assignments. So, with a more substantial doco assignment headed my way, I’ve decided its time I get myself some proper editing software.

I tried to get away without spending a dime and gave Davinci Resolven a go, but my PC isn’t fast enough to run it.

Since many of you here are so knowledgeable about editing and post-production processes in general, I’d like to ask for a recommendation on editing software!

I use Windows and, if the software will last me several years, have a budget of a couple hundred dollars.

I’ll be using the software for fairly general editing, but don’t want to limit myself and get stuck when I become more experienced and attempt more difficult tasks later.

Decided to watch this again, and screw it, I actually like it a lot. This time around I didn’t mind the dialogue or acting, and I adored the music, action scenes, and cinematography. I also really enjoyed watching it. I know I’ll get hounded for this, but I give it a seven out of ten.

I re-watched Sith recently too and found the dialog and acting even worse than I remembered. Anakin and Obi-Wan’s banter during the Coruscant batte is atrocious, even Ian Mcdiarmid is impossible to take seriously. But once Order 66 hits, there really are some great moments. I forgot how powerful Padme’s funeral is with that shot of Anakin’s necklace gift. Palpatine’s speech to the senate intercut with Anakin’s annihilation of the Separatist council is not only striking but thematically deft. Obi-Wan’s “You were my brother” and Anakin’s fear as Vader’s mask lowers: great stuff. Obviously doesn’t save the film though.

The run time flew by too since I was trying to deconstruct character motivations which need a lot of digging to figure out. I also love the score too LuckyGungan.

There were on Aussie VHS’s too (I assumed they were a worldwide thing but perhaps not), whenever they came on everyone in earshot would over-dramatically mimic the voice over aha.

Using the full IMAX shots will be a separate release. So there will be a version with the all the original Blu-Ray IMAX shots at 16:9.
Then I will add in the full IMAX shots for a separate release. The shots that require the DVD upscales I will try to composite together with the Blu-Ray shots to maintain the most detail (like how I composited together the BB prologue with Blu-Ray to keep the framing the same).
Finally, after this I will make another release with all the shots cropped to 2.40:1 for those with anamorphic projectors.

The Others (2001)

Pretty good! Doesn’t feel particularly special but entertaining and engaging throughout with effective suspense. Nice composition and lighting too.

Speaking of RLM, their Rogue One commentary track was fucking hysterical. Had me laughing so hard in so many spots.

Mike’s impressions of Admiral Raddus and Mon Mothma were especially good haha. Although it was pretty frustrating when they chose not to pay any attention to the dialog then talked about how they had no idea what was going on.

I totally agree on the correlation. I like to think the Coen’s are the restrained, more artistic Tarantino.

Spider Baby (1967) - Solid black horror/comedy. Nice writing, interesting characters, fun movie all around.

No Country for Old Men (2007) - Loved the lack of dialog and thought the scenes between Brolin and Bardem were incredible but I’m not sure if the film landed thematically. It seemed like they were going for a Wild Bunch esque “too old for this; life is passing me by” sort of deal but it never really clicked with me. Regardless the cat and mouse game was riveting.

It’s absurdist, lets not take this too seriously. It’s very possible to enjoy a joke ironically or to laugh at how, as Darth Id put it, it’s “forced, painfully obvious PC reaction formation” - which obviously some don’t find very funny.

EDIT: I totally misunderstood Darth Id, I meant the meme, if serious which I’m sure it is not, is a hilarious overreaction to Rey’s character.

THE VOID (2017)

Well this one just snuck up on me. Had never heard anything about it before I saw it listed playing at my local theater. Watched the trailer and knew I had to see it.

It’s an 80s horror throwback in the vein of THE THING or a Croenenberg film. I’d say about 99% of the effects were all done practically. Loved that. One of the actors looked alarmingly like Donald Pleasence.

The film itself is pretty good. It’s a tense ride and keeps you on your toes throughout. I’m very impressed with the directors Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie. I’ll be keeping my eye out for future releases from their production company Astron-6.

If you’re a fan of 80’s horror and or practical effects work you definitely don’t want to miss this one.

Without spoilers, what are other scenes that could be objectively the best of all time?

Thought the whole stream today was pretty good (no announcements aside). Carrie tribute + Williams live was extremely impressive and Ray Park’s panel was a load of fun too. He’s falls just far enough on the fun-crazy side rather than the scary-cringe-crazy side haha.
