THX 1138 "preservations" + the 'THX 1138 Italian Cut' project (Released)

Looks good!

Would it be possible to reposition the subs when computer screens are being translated so as not to obscure the original text? For example, all you really need is "subject" and "roommate" above the original Italian phrases. No need to translate the names, and "Possible Drug Theft" is fine where it is?

Quick question - why does R2 look black-and-white in some space scenes?  I thought it was an error on the print until I confirmed it in Adywan's reconstruction.

I think the "blue" model conflicted with the bluescreen backgrounds.  Like the tv weatherman who wears a blue tie and suddenly has a map of Iowa projected onto it :-)   I'm open to being corrected.

You are correct. Artoo also sports black panels in SW during the Death Star battle, but it's less obvious. I always rationalized it as Artoo's panels changing color in the cold of space. His dome actually looks frosty at times, but maybe the crew sprayed him with dull coat to reduce blue spill...

Those SE changes are getting sneaky aren't they? ;)

the reasons why episodes 7 8 and 9 will/should be made

If Lucas hands the directing reins over to someone else, it might work.

Remember, those story treatments for seven eight and nine are probably in his desk drawer, even though he denies they ever existed these days. ;)

Motion capture is getting better all the time, so the sequels can be set just about any period after Jedi. And I'm sure Lucas has seen Tron Legacy, with it's youthful Jeff Bridges doppelganger.

The box office take for the 3D releases will tip the scales one way or the other.

One thing I've wondered about, are different fonts and colors possible with DVD subtitles? Would be cool if they could somehow match the style of text used in the movie itself.

The studios never seem to do much with subtitles beyond white, yellow, and kind of blocky. (And it's really annoying when they inexplicably replace burned in subs with them too.) Closed captions on an old 1980's tv set have more visual appeal. ;)

I'd like to see the poster art in color, but that's just me. :)

I like the addition of the sunset on the back cover. If that was the only thing in color on the whole design, that might be really striking.

Also, neither version is in stereo, (as it was originally) so "Dolby Surround" would be misleading. May I suggest "Dolby Mono"?

Wookieepedia can say what ever it wants. Without photographic evidence, Snootles is dead I say! ;)

Loved that RC skit, but why the heck is Max Rebo wearing a diaper?

The 8210 ignores most of the minor defects and speckles on the US LD, but there are some gremlins that creep into the closing titles. (Look closely at the text and you'll see it.) I think it's the chroma or luma levels going over the limit or something. The Japanese fares only slightly better at the same spot, but on the other two machines both discs are fine with the credits.

I've never been able to figure out if it's an idiosyncrasy of this player, or certain video transfers are creeping past safe "peak" NTSC video levels on some shots. (And more modern players compensate better?) For example, the shot of the Lunar shuttle being lowered into the Moonbase in 2001, which is bathed in red light, really suffers from the same problem.

The other 8210 hassle is the "rolling bar" video noise that is easily seen on a black background. It's largely invisible during most of the film though.

You're welcome!

A couple things I never noticed before in the movie, THX uses his ID badge to buy the red dendrite at the "store" like it was a debit card. A far out idea for 1970, as even ATM's were not in widespread use yet.

And it also dawned on me the "food" in the movie looks a lot like an old favorite breakfast item I haven't been able to enjoy since the late 70's.
