On that page they have a section titled "STAR WARS: THE SKYWALKER SAGA" and in it is simply this video with the description: "Slave. Hero. Villain. Savior. Revisit the stunning journey of Anakin Skywalker -- the central figure of the Star Wars saga -- in this special video presentation."

So what saga do you think the ST will be?

Lucas was going to direct  Apocalypse Now early in his career. (The somewhat crazy plan was to actually shoot in Vietnam while the war was still on.) Coppola wasn't able to get that version off the ground, and ultimately made the movie himself.

Lucas referenced his involvement with A.N. (although not by name) when discussing the concept of a primitive culture taking down a technologically superior one in the Star Wars to Jedi documentary.

I could see the Alliance using a lot of left over Imperial hardware with a new paint job. A star destroyer with a Rebel insignia painted on the hull perhaps?

That would instantly communicate how things have changed since ROTJ.

It's too bad Brian Daley is no longer with us. He had a good grasp on the SW universe.

Alan Dean Foster is still around.

I have no doubt Fett's return is at least being thought about.

Looper was a breath of fresh air amongst a sea of very bland big budget cg action movies that are the norm these days.  I don't have a whole lot of hope that the new Star Wars movies will be any better than your typical comic book movie, but if Rian Johnson is involved I will definitely be a lot more interested.

I agree with greenpenguino, this has to be the finest Bond movie, the perfect mix.....after watching a LOT of Bond recently on the 007 channel, this film marks 50 years nostalgically.

The cg dragons didn't bother me, but the DLP image just wasn't bright enough, especially in bright scenes where I was conscious of the screen material.

One thing I've been wondering about is what this means to other in house Disney productions. Are they going to bother with a Tron Legacy sequel or that Black Hole remake now that they have Star Wars?

Maybe the upshot of the Disney deal will be we finally get to see 5-25-77 released, riding that wave of renewed interest in Star Wars.

Chewie superfluous to the plot? It would have been a lot harder to walk into that detention block and succeed without the ruse of a "prisoner transfer."

Given that at least one of the original Chewie masks looks more like the Crypt Keeper now, that's not as easy as it sounds. Whatever else has survived is probably too fragile for the rigors of filming now.

That was the time period the live action tv show is supposed to be set in. If it's not dead in the water now...

I think the George Lucas of 1979/80 was a bit more unfiltered and less guarded than he is now. The whole book is an largely unvarnished look at ESB's production and where Lucas thought the saga was going. Even Carrie Fisher's drug problems are hinted at. For those reasons, I think it will remain forever out of print.

The only point I wanted to make is that Lucas isn't suddenly pulling a sequel out of his thermal exhaust port. There's a lot a material that has never seen the light of day.

Hmm...even back then though, he was changing his story interview-to-interview, regardless of how unguarded he was. 

I suspect that if you did read zombie's book, you'd become far more skeptical of just how much content was out there. ( I did not read it critically because of how long it was; hopefully he cut it down to size and made it less redundant with the latest version.) It's only $10 for the ebook, though unfortunately it's only available from amazon. Much of the basic argument is available at his site, too. I would make it but I really need to go to sleep, and zombie is anyway reading the thread.

Anyway, thanks for clarifying where you're coming from.

Would have been a lot harder to catch someone changing their story unless you had a subscription to several different magazines though. Dave Prowse let slip a major plot spoiler, but it never got beyond the local paper it was printed in.

Starlog was my primary news source for SW back then. Kids have it so easy now. ;)
