When did you realize the Prequels sucked?

I never thought much about the prequels, and the one I watched over and over again was Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. I saw Star Wars Episode I: A Phantom Menace and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones both in the same evening on tape because I didn't really have money in the budget for theatre tickets in the late 90's early 2000's; I think I thought Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was just a lame kids movie, and I hated Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. I saw Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Jedi in theatres, and I thought it was ok. My opinion of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith hasn't really changed, and I do think it's the best of the prequels, even though that's not saying much. To this day, the only Star Wars movies that I like are Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hop3, The Wars Epiode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Wars Episode VI: Blue Harvest.

Wow, I'm exhausted just from reading that

OK sure, but nothing changes the fact that the sun does not go around the moon. In fact, the moon doesn't even revolve around the sun, it revolves around the earth. I guess technically the moon goes around the sun since it follows the earth. Anyway though, nothing anyone thinks or says changes the fact that the sun does not go around the moon. No point of view alters that fact.

Of course. It all depends on how the values of 2 and 5 are defined, and what the symbols of "+" and "=" represent.

That was some more of my sarcasm. I don't really agree with imperialscum's opinion that opinions can't be wrong. :P

OK, good. You never know on the internet though; plus I'm a bit deaf to sarcasm even in real life, so it's about 100 times harder to notice in online comments.

As for Episode VII, I don't plan on seeing it. Maybe I'll rent it from Blockbuster when it comes out on tape, but I won't see it in theaters

Maybe I'm not charitable enough to Star Wars' patriarch, but the most recent creative input from Lucas that I'm aware of is giving Palpatine the name "Sheeve."

I honestly take comfort knowing Lucas is removed from the bulk of what's going on.

Me too. Unlike the Phantom Menace, which I was excited for, and unlike the second two prequels, which I completely dreaded, I have no feelings towards the Sequel Trilogy. I'm not opposed to it at all (mostly because I know Lucas himself won't be ruining it), but I have no desire to see it.

I still don't think that he cares anymore. I think he went from being legitimately opposed to people seeing the OOT, to someone who just did not care at all about it.

I think he was still bent on defending his versions (which seriously, who wouldn't defend their true vision?), but I do agree that he had softened on the whole thing with pretending like the OOT never existed.

College Dorm Stories/Problems and Advice

If he's disrupting your sleep and studies then chances are he's probably annoying your other neighbors as well, especially if the halls small like weed. I'd recommend telling him about it before reporting him. Give him a chance to stop on his own, he may not realize that anyone is being disturbed; some people are oblivious to the fact that dorm rooms aren't insulated and soundproof. If it continues then you should report it because there's no reason to just ignore stuff like that. Definitely give him a chance first and ask him to quiet down or smoke weed some place other than the dorm.

I believe that this has been discussed to death somewhere in this thread too.

If they did recomposite the effects, it would no longer be the original version - how much it would bother individual people is a different question but it would irrefutably no longer be the original version.

That's why I put the word, "unaltered", in quotes. I was just asking if that was a likelihood

I'm not sure what you mean. The 2004 SE lightsabers in the Vader Ben duel are recomposited original elements (at least for the most part) and the RMV video seems to be exactly the same way, just with much better colors.

Oh, OK. I was always under the impression that the lightsabers in the 2004 DVD were just some kind of digital addition, like the extended cell corridor. If Disney were to restore the "unaltered" films, would they likely recomposite the original elements, like what was original plan for the SE?

now I've compared the sabres there with a scan of an I.B. Print and the glows are definitely not the originals, which were much more diffused but the cores actually look very close

What do the originals look like? I always remembered the video tapes being the fat cores of the lightsabers.

Yeah, in the I.B. scan, the thickness of the cores is pretty much the same as in that RMV video but the glow is far far more diffused - there is no clear edge to the glows - at least in the shot I was comparing.

Sorry to keep dredging up the tired discussion about lightsabers (even though it's now probably less tired than whatever the hell is being "argued" about now) but I wasn't aware of that. Could this mean that it's a re-composite of the original elements, like what the SE was originally supposed to be, or a new effect entirely?

So to answer your question, it's already sillier than my non sequitur.  I'm excited to see how much sillier it gets than it already is, and I'm glad to see it's not letting me down.  Especially given the generally silliness that is this thread and the manner in which it refuses to die even though it has no good reason to continue growing in length.  Also given the fact that the current silliness is 95% on your end.  And this is scientific fact, I tested it in a lab this morning.

So... You're saying the lightsaber compositing matches the 2004 versions?
