Well, if we are not going to get rid of the guns, our schools need protection. Maybe not armed teachers, but armed trained police/security guards.

Schools already have police officers in the building. It isn’t working.

I don’t think removing guns (or certain type of guns) from millions of law abiding citizens will work either. Besides that would be illegal.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

In Finland practically all foreign language live action movies and TV shows are subtitled.
Being Finnish I am very much used to sometimes having two subtitles on the screen at the same time. It only bothers me if I can’t see the original english subtitle at the same time. I wan’t to be able to see that the translation isn’t botched 😃

I for one would hate to lose the original burnt in Greedo/Jabba subtitles.

edit: also I can’t figure out how a few burnt in subtitles could possibly “spoil all this great work”

The Mind Probe is also a jedi power in canon. Who is to say which one he was talking about? 😉 If someone can say that Luke transmitted his thoughts to Vader, instead of vader reading his mind, then i can say that the mind probe that he was talking about is also the established jedi Mind Probe 😉

And, if we are using wiki, this clears up that Vader was using the mind probe (thus reading Luke’;s mind) in ROTJ 😉

Nice one, Ady! I thought they had you there, but you pulled a rabbit out of a hat!

Three words: Plex Media Server.

There are Plex clients for numerous different set-top and mobile streaming devices, including PS3.

I’m glad you mentioned those three words. The Plex GUI is so pretty with the little posters and all. I could not get it to work with PS3, but with android devices and Chromecast Ultra, there’s no need for PS3 anymore.

Cheers!

For those of us sorry sad sacks without BluRay burners, what resources do we have for obtaining nice copies on printable media? I’d love help if anyone has an extra disc!

Thanks, Todd

In my opinion the best way is by streaming the mkv-files from a PC to your PS3. Universal Media Server software is needed on the PC. Once you have it all set up, playing movies is easier than inserting a disc in your blu-ray player. Don’t even need to get off the couch!
And subtitles work great too.

Well I guess 3d is like cilantro. Some love it, but to others it tastes like soap.

I don’t like it, and I really shouldn’t have a problem with others liking it, but it does affect me somewhat because the imax near my house tends to always show features in 3d, and rarely in 2d. So I almost never go anymore, and I miss the big screen and powerful sound.

This is probably the main reason I dislike 3d so much, it like a virus taking over cinema.

My thoughts exactly.

It’s ok to have it as an option, but to me it’s just a gimmic that distracts from the story.

I’d like to help as well.

Haha! The funny thing is, I immediately thought of this shot when I made my first reply. Thank ypu for gif-ifying it!

I was going to reply with “Oh, sure! With those things runnin’ around? You can count me out!”
But I couldn’t find the gif 😃

No but seriously, I think these kind of cleanups should be left to those semi professionals (Harmy and others) who know what they’re doing. Otherwise the end result could be junk.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI - Grindhouse 35mm LPP (Released)

Wow. What a treat! For example the insides of Jabba’s palace is full of detail I never knew existed. Thanks Harmy and Poita.

I would like to know more about the scanning process. Where did the film come from? Who scanned it?
Was this scanned with a setup similar to what Team Negative 1 uses or something completely different?
It’s all very interesting.

Is this the thread for the Silver Screen ed? Hope so. Just finished watching it. Looked awesome. Noticed a lot of new detail. Laughed at 3PO when he’s sitting on the speeder coming into Mos Eisley. His hips look like golden tin foil. Guess he wasn’t designed to be sitting down 😄

Huge thanks to Team Negative 1 for all their efforts.

Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone involved in restoring these classics.

Can anyone explain to me why some scenes in the Grindhouse ESB are so dirty (wide landscapes on Hoth for example) and then the following close up shot is relatively clean. One would think there wouldn’t be much difference in how the film was handled or stored between shots. Just curious.
