Info: GHOSTBUSTERS - Tobins Spirit Guide
Time

This project will be the most complete collection of additional materials for the 1984 film to date. I have been working on collecting materials and how to present it for a fair few months now, as some of you will know from another thread concerning another Ghostbusters project which is now considered dead.

The initial idea was to make a discs worth of bonus materials, but now has become a series of DVD’s due to the amount of content I have!

At present, there are three discs planned, the first already in its final stages of disc authoring.

This first disc will include - all of the music videos
All of the contents of the Critereon Laserdisc features
Alternate dialogue taken from the US televison premiere
Footage from the Universal Studios show
Exerpts from the TV series Movie Magic, and other documentaries
Rare interviews & promtional materials
Plus much more

The second DVD will be a Laserdisc transfer of SFX Museum - Richard Edlund, which is a 60 minute look behind the scenes at Boss Studios containing interviews with the artists involved in Ghostbusters and 2010.

The third disc(s) will be a data format containing the original film in HD, for those of you with compatible monitors/TV’s.

What I need is someone to come up with a design for a template DVD cover that can be used for all three discs. I have some artwork in mind for the first and second discs, but have yet to think about the third.

Any help or ideas of other possible releases would be appriciated, but may I stress that this is strictly a Ghostbusters 1984 project at the moment, so no cartoons or lame sequels!

I am not going to give any timescales on these, but once the first disc is finished, the rest wont take long. I will update this thread with any updates.

Special thanks go to Netsolo for the material he has provided, although I am going to keep some of it under my hat until the disc is unleashed at the end of July on a torrent site that has a Demon like quality!

It has been decided between myself and Cannon Fodder that we are now going to work on our own projects respectivly. We were going to collaborate, but I felt that my project was alot different than what Cannon Fodder had in mind. My project is still underway, I am not sure about his. I will be creating a new thread once I have some concrete details, but as for now I can tell you that my release will include-

An isolated score track very kindly created by Klokwerk.

Clips from the TV premiere in the states featuring alternate takes/censorship
All of the Critereon Laserdisc footage
Exerpts from the TV program Movie Magic,
and much more!

The film will be presented in a simillar fashion to Deleted Magic, but branched, so that you can view the film with the isolated score.

E.T.A? - End of July 2006

I will post more details once I have created the offiicial thread for this release.

Thanks for your interest.

Nice One! I was planning on doing an isolated score, but if you can do it that would be a real helping hand. Only thing I can think of though is that most of my sources are PAL format. I am creating a new commentary, so this would be a great addition to the disc as a seperate audio track.

I have both the bootleg and official score, to my knowledge the bootleg has less than the official, but I may be wrong, will have to look into it.

There is a lot of stuff that is getting packed in, some should be forgotten (Weird Al Yankovic inserting himself in the Ray Parkery Jr. "Ghostbusters" music video) and numerous that should never... ghostheads will really enjoy a lot of what is packed in here. - it will either be a dual-layer DVD or multiple DVD's.

Keeping you all in the know - watch this space.

A collaboration with whom?

1) Ghostbusters Spooktacular - Various Videos from the USF Attraction including excerpts from gift shop video

2) RPJ Music Video (with the original John Candy/Jeffrey Tambor/etc. dialogue - not the MTV2 version). Consequently, did you know that the cameos were the reason they couldn't clear the rights on the music video for the proper release? That's why it's harder to come by.

3) 1999 Sony Publicity demo reel for the original 99 DVD release

4) ALL content from the Criterion CAV Laserdisc, second generation (sadly) dubbed onto VHS from the original disc

There might be a couple other tapes there collecting dust that I've completely forgotten about, I'll keep you posted (and post over on the HQ boards too, in case you're frequenting there as well).

Hey Netsolo,
that was me that requested them and sent you a PM on the GB Board. I have all of the Laserdisc Stuff, but the rest sounds a good scoop! If you email me on your return home, we can work out an arrangement.
Cheers buddy!

Julian - How is the project coming along? I think we are going to clash on these releases, so why not team up and make one set out of the best we have between us? PM me if you are interested.

Does it contain the original sound or is it a re-dub? I have a dvd version that has Promo only appear for a few seconds, but the sound is not the original with the cameos voices. I have been working on re-syncing it up with a lower quality video that does have original audio but not as good video quality for a similar project to yours.

Info & Help: looking for... 'AFI - The Directors'

Thanks for the hint once again, ReverendBeastly. Here is what I found. Are some of these interesting for you, NeilB? Sometimes the documentary is on Region 1 version only, sometimes on Region 2 France only.

Hills Have Eyes Director: Wes Craven
Time Bandits Director: Terry Gilliam
The Brood Director: David Cronenberg
Scanners Director: David Cronenberg
Vampires Director: John Carpenter
Short Cuts Director: Robert Altman
Wild At Heart Director: David Lynch
Gangs Of New York Director: Martin Scorsese
Charade Director: Stanley Donen (not necessarily from the AFI series)

Good work my friend!
I have found these so far on the official release DVDs by AFI -

Robert Altman
Wes Craven
David Cronenberg
Clint Eastwood
Milos Forman
John Frankenheimer
William Friedkin
Terry Gilliam
Ron Howard
Norman Jewison
Lawrence Kasdan
Spike Lee
Berry Levinson
Adrian Lyne
Garry Marshall
John McTiernan
Sydney Pollack
Rob Reiner
Joel Schumacher
Martin Scorsese
Steven Spielberg
Robert Zemeckis
Barbra Streisand
Roger Corman
Wolfgang Peterson
James Cameron
Sidney Lumet
Zucker, Abrahams And Zucker
Micheal Mann - A running total of 29 found so far

So far it looks as if it is only George Romero & John Carpenter that are available on other DVDs from the list you provided. I have found the Season Of The Witch DVD for sale, but not the Vampires Directors cut. Do any of you own these DVD's and willing to upload or trade the episodes? I plan to make custom covers for these to match the originals.

Also, if anyone sees any that are not on the list advertised to be broadcast on TV, please let me know. I am in the UK incase you hadn't already gathered!

Thankyou all for your help - After a week or so with no reply, I thought the thread would fall out of view and never be replied to!

They are listed at IMDB -

Episode List of "The Directors"

The feature on the Season Of The Witch DVD is indeed one of the episodes. Thank you for opening my eyes to that, I will have a look through the other directors films on dvd to see if any of the others can be obtained this way. George Romero is one of the ones that hasn't been released on DVD, so there might be hope!

I have looked high and low for these - but like you say, nobody seems to know. There are about 20 different titles that have been released on DVD, aswell as a box set including them all which retails for roughly 300 USD. I am slowly buying single copies on Ebay, but still hopeful in finding Ivan Reitman, Ridley Scott & Tony Scott if not all of them.

I will let you know if I find them, please do the same for me if you manage to.

Many thanks,
NeilB
