Anyone see ER last week (11-02-06)? RE: Padme's death
Time

Ive never seen ER. I have never found Padme losing the will to live too objectionable, that said, I think I would have felt more emotional over her death if she actually died by Anakin killing her or her going into exile as it was when I first saw Revenge of the Sith at the cinema I was thinking "oh well!!! she's dead what happened" Ive always enjoyed the film, and I know some people have got all emotional over the film especially scenes like this, but prehaps its me, but it never really hit me as much it seemingly does others...

Favorite Board Games?
Time
[qOriginally posted by: [auximeniesQ]Originally posted by:.

Oh, geez. Blast from the past. I forgot all about that game even though I used to play it often. Another one I had that I thought was pretty cool was Dark Tower.

Just found this single-player online version of Dark Tower.

Now that my memory is returning on this, I had loaned my Dark Tower game to a friend down the street. He had it for probably a year (I guess I had lost interest about the time I loaned it), and then he committed suicide. I didn't feel right about asking his mom for my game back, so I never saw it --or more tragically, him-- again.

I love this game, my friend still has this round his house, I cant think how many hours we spent playing that game as kids, we would get a group and play it, my other favourites are Monopoly Scrabble Cluedo The Game of Life, another fav when I younger was the Star Wars game Escape From The Death Star which I spent many an hour playing with my friends....

I got it last Xmas as a gift, but Ive never got round to playing it, but from the looks of the packaging and everything else the PT and the OT are seemingly intermingled.

I used to love Trival Pursuit I used to play it alot with friends when I was younger with both the original Genus Edition and the computer game version

Saddam Hussein Sentenced To Death
Time

Its finally good to see justice being handed out to Saddam and his cronies, though I do worry about the implications for the Coalition forces out there with the volatile situation as it is already, I feel it may and hope it doesnt inflame the Sunni insurgents to new levels of violence and encourage more fighters to join the insurgency and him becoming some kind of matyr to the cause, as said its probably best if they dont do it publicly, just do it quietly then announce a few months later with his body already buried somewhere in an unmarked grave or already cremated.

Opinion Poll on Go-Mer-Tonic
Time
I dont know the guy, I am only going by what Ive been told by others and read on here, part of the time his posts I find useful but some of the time its my opinion he carries on the argument and does it to seemingly to get a rise out of certain people. I like the PT myself so PT gushing doesnt bother me, but this isnt really the place, as the majority here dont like it and dont want to repeatly told with how great he thinks it is as it just atagonises the people here. The thing i really like about this place because it is seemingly the only SW site that seems to respect the original Star Wars films and I think some people come here just to cause trouble and irritate the people here who love these films because they cant do it elsewhere for whatever reason, whether Gomer is one I not gonna judge yet, but others here think that is why he is here, if he is, he or anyone shouldnt be allowed to post here....

Official Star Wars newsletter from 1978
Time

In the forward to the Splinter of the Minds Eye book George is quoted in editions of the book as saying "That his story was too big to fit into one movie, and that he broke it up into three parts, The Original Trilogy, the further adventures, and the back story making a total of nine films"

I can well believe that there was more than 6 films planned back then, I just think he changed his mind, ran out of story or got fed up with SW at that point....

Such as the GOUT?

Okay, how bout they refund your money so YOU and YOU ALONE can create a project BETTER than what the X0 will be?

Sounds like a good deal to me, bring it on... idiot....

Seriously what did you expect? That you give them "a good amount of money" and suddenly overnight they finish their work? These kind souls have lives too. It's not like they're devoting 24/7 to the project.

Going thru the films frame by frame takes time. Patience is a virtue you obviously don't have.

I agree, Im very disapointed someone has this attitude towards the X0 team, they have made a lot of sacrifices to take on this project, and it is upto them how long they take........

Pink Saber in OOT
Time

Ive never had a problem any of the sabers in the OOT or the sabers in 04 set, I know a few of them were off colour I think, the one in the Falcon in ANH was off colour and the pink one was in Empire i believe as well, it never bothered me when watching them them ones, though I do like the vibrancy of the PT sabers....

I'd like to see an accurate poll on this matter - did Star Wars fans watch the PT because they wanted to, or because they felt they had to?

I never bothered to go to the cinema to see The Phantom Menace, I was so dissapointed with the film then I checked out of Star Wars for years but I decided out of my obligation to Star Wars to give it another go by seeing Clones but only two weeks after it opened and enjoyed it but I went only once. The only one I had interest in months before because of the story and I made a big effort to see it on the first day was Revenge of the Sith and it was the only Prequel I went multiple times to see.

Looking back I should've gone to see TPM at the cinema, because when I watch it today on DVD there is stuff I like in there and if I had I would have been more enthuasiastic about going to see Clones and would have probably gone earlier and seen that more than once, because when Ive decided to watch the films on DVD Ive enjoyed them.

Will those who hate the SE OT and bought the OOT DVD's..
Time
I didnt buy the OOT DVDs but had I bought them I would probably have given them away or thrown them away because I dont really want them again and replaced them in the slot with ADM's editions or made it into a single disc OOT set with custom covers, I have already done something like this already, I bought some DVD cases, used the custom covers from here, put ADM's editions in one slot and a fan version of the OOT in another slot to make my own SW two disc sets, I do own the silver box 04 DVD set but I dont want to get rid of them as they were a gift so I just leave them in my collection with all my other DVDs.

Ive ordered this DVD, I saw the film in the cinema back in the 80s when I was fan of Transformers and tried to collect all the toys when I was a kid, not so interested nowadays but looking forward for nostalgic reasons to watching this film again to see how well it holds up..

I agree, I dont understand the dislike for Jake Lloyd also, sure he wasnt the greatest child actor ever, but I find Jake Lloyd completly watchable when he is onscreen and can live with the performance he gave in the film, though I do find it a bit creepy when hes chatting up Natalie Portman in them scenes but Jar Jar there have been times in the past when I found him unwatchable in TPM especially in the Battle of Naboo

I still watch and enjoy the PT films but I must admit he is one thing that annoys me most about The Prequels when he is TPM, I dont mind him really when he appears in ATOC and ROTS because George toned him down for the other two Prequels but he is the main reason the TPM is my least favourite of the 6 films, I hated him in the film so much in 99 that I didnt even bother to go and see The Phantom Menace in the cinema and disliked it for years, but nowadays I appreciate the film a bit more because Ive got used him appearing now though he still annoying to me now and again there is other stuff in there that I like..

Saturday Night Fever PG version (Released)
Time

Ive always liked the film and remember this, Im sure I had this cut on VHS at one time as I was young my mum wouldnt have wanted me to have the adult cut, this PG version Im sure was also shown on TV here as I remember in the early 80s it was shown a few times on TV in the very late afternoon.

If I remember rightly the same thing was done here with the Eddie Murphy/Nick Nolte film 48hrs there was a cut of film which if I remember the swearing was toned down at a UK 15 cut and released on video and a UK 18 cut which was released which was the full version.

What Special Edition changes (if any) did people like?
Time
I will always prefer the original versions but I wouldnt have had a problem with his version of the SE if he just kept it to updating the special effects and the visuals eg expanded Mos Eisley without the slapstick opening up of Bespin etc, that part of the SE I do like, but what I am not keen on at all in his SE is where he has altered and erased the performances of the actors that you have got used to and like for god knows how many years except maybe The Emperor for continuty which is maybe understandable and scenes like the Shuttle landing which I feel alters the pace of the movie, this is why I like to see the fan versions eg ADMs DEs etc. along side the original versions.

That would great to have a OOTcon for the 30th Anni watching the OOT with a few drinks and that, it would remind me of those trilogy parties I had when I was younger, though I dont know how pleased my wife would be about holding it at my place though unfortunately, though I would like to do something if anyone is interested for the 30th Anniversary.
