The Empire Strikes Back "1980 Theatrical version" Reconstruction - Adywan (Released)
Time

Ady, just wanted to take the time to express my gratitude to you for doing this. It is wonderful. It's nice to be able to watch Empire without either cringing at the SE changes or awful quality. THANK YOU!!

On a side note, I'm happy to have helped indirectly with this by supplying the Fox fanfare opening. It is actually taken from the latest release of The Omen. For TSOTESB, I initially tried Bus Stop. It was close, but The Omen was spot on.

Again, nice work as always. I'm sure someone else has already asked, but what are the chances of an EPIV companion (and eventually ROTJ) to this using your AVCHD source files? IMHO, this is the most important release around here in a long time... probably ever!

Does anyone have Disc Art and Cover Art for EditDroids Special Features Disc 3 and 4?

EDIT:  What exactly is the JACKET_P folder?  What is it for and how do I open the files contained inside?

The JACKET_P folder contains files that are used by some players to graphically represent the disc with artwork. For example, in a multi-player, the artwork would let you know what disc is loaded.

I should have that ED artwork somewhere. Let me look around for it and I'll let you know...

Puggo GRANDE - 16mm restoration (Released)
Time

Giganews and binsearch.info state all uploaded files 100% complete. So anyone getting incomplete files, the problem is with your newsgroup provider. A reminder to people, ISP file retention sucks. You have to pay for a premium provider to download anything as large as a DVD.

On another note... To the people who have this now, didn't Puggo do an amazing job? Considering all the work necessary, this is up there with the best of the fan projects IMHO. Bravo!

I'm guessing that it is not the correct aspect ratio. I initially thought my copy was merely 4x3 letterboxed. But upon closer inspection it was obvious that while it displays 4x3 letterboxed, it was encoded for anamorphic sizing. That is, I'd bet that if you inspect it more closely you'll see that everything displays "taller" or "skinnier" than should be. The print is heavily cropped, so when it's displayed properly, the black bars should seem larger than the normal 2.35:1. I just checked on a dvd player and a 4x3 CRT and confirmed it. Moral of story - nobody needs to share their copy of Grande 1.0...

i wonder who wookiegroomer is pointing this at:

from the nfo for his ROTJ blu-ray

To re-edit, mix and adjust video/audio, re-encoding is required. When this happens if you re-encode at anything like or less than the original bitrate you lose quality. Since my releases are meant to be enjoyed by the big boys with REAL home theater systems I encode at the highest possible bitrate to guarantee the best quality- without question. It would be embarrassing to share all this work and then shit on it by encoding it to a DVD9.

As i am the only person to have done any work like colour correction on the saga for AVCHD releases i take it that its pointed towards me.  Whats with all the sudden hostility?

Ignore it. Plain and simple. It's ridiculous...

Hey, a Coov sighting! Good to see you here again. PM me and I'll take care of you getting these...

Damn MA you are just a super nice guy, probably 1 of the nicest I have ever met here, did you ever get that disc art yet?

also you upped the 14 GB ESB file right,is it that much better than the AVCHD?

No disc art yet. You still want me to wait for disc art to send you yours?

Speaking of... Sluggo, are you planning on making disc art for those nice covers of yours?

The 14 GB ESB is outstanding. I haven't really watched the AVCHD and the 14 GB back to back to compare, but I don't remember thinking that the AVCHD looked bad at all, even with the lower bitrate for DVD9. I think if you're looking for the best possible quality and you have a way to view mkv's on your HDTV and can handle 14 GB of storage for 1 movie, then by all means I think it is the best way to go. The AVCHD is nice to have on a disc that can play on set-top boxes and can sit on your shelf with the rest of your library. I'd actually recommend both for those reasons...
