The Star Wars trilogy films are easily the three most popular films unavailable on home video today. So there will always be unscrupulous people trying to cash in on the chasm between supply and demand, and unfortunately Despecialized makes it easy. The best leverage we have against unscrupulous dealers is to make sure all Star Wars fans know about Despecialized, and that it’s free – erode the demand for these bootlegs, in other words. Other than that, we’re just putting out fires on eBay until Star Wars enters the public domain and we can get a real commercial release – and none of us will live to see that day.

Unfortunately, there are too few people who have burners or know what to do with them. So they’ll rely on other people to do it because they can’t be bothered. The supply nor the demand will ever go away.

That makes sense. I don’t have a burner or high-speed myself, but I’m not going to let other people get ripped off, I’ll just wait till I get a chance to upgrade my situation in the future, not worth it for people to mess up this great project. Talk about revisionist history like in the the specialized versions, it still annoys me that Lucas would go on to claim later that Anakin Skywalker built C-3PO, annoying! Movies shouldn’t be so in-bred

Idea: Star Trek - Original Series / Red Cliff...

Why don’t we erase history while we’re at it too? Might as well go the whole 9 yards. 😉

Well, that would certainly be the point with Red Cliff where they insert Jar Jar Binks type characters into historical settings. But I agree that the original versions of movies should also be preserved ie; Star Wars, ET etc.

Keep in mind though, when most people listen to a music album, say for instance the White Album by the Beatles, most people don’t like every song equally so they pick and choose what parts of that piece of art they want to listen to, it’s no different than with a movie, not everyone wants to see a gory scene that may be out of place in a movie, not everyone might want to watch Jar Jar B, not everyone might want to listen to Jackie Chan sing a song during a movie.

We all have our people opinions about the work of artists, whether it be music or movies or books and we have the ability in this modern world to include what we want and what we don’t want to increase our enjoyment of art as a whole.

What I would really like to see is CGI used to change the obvious use of stunt doubles in Star Trek (and other series as well I reckon). Not sure how complex that would be but it would improve the immersion in the stories when you not going “Hey, that’s not Leonard Nimoy!”.

For that matter, it would be awesome if the makers of Red Cliff edited out the embarrassingly ridiculous cartoon character of Lady Sun (the bald girl from Shaolin Soccer) out of the movie. Now I realize the historical character of Lady Sun was a bit mentally unbalanced and liked to walk around her estate with a sword strapped on and she insisted that her female servants also wear swords, but from a historical perspective (unlike in Red Cliff) she did not go running around taking part in battles, was not at the front lines, was not sneaking behind enemy lines to gather intelligence etc. It really ruins the historical aspect of what is otherwise an excellent movie

but I guess I just need to get a video editor at some point! Of course there are lots of other movies that I could improve in little ways. Dang you Wesley Crusher (shakes fist)!

Actually what would be nice is a blu ray player that you could program to skip segments of a movie, that would be most excellent! for instance skip 1:20:02 to 1:22:03

Hey Stardork, nice work. Do those covers work with standard Blu-Ray cases or the Criterion style larger cases?

They are sized for standard cases. I don’t have a Criterion case, unfortunately. I’ll try to find the right dimensions and see if I can tweak a version to fit it.

Not a problem. I’d actually prefer a set that will fit standard cases since all the Criterion double disc cases are sold out online. 😉

Interesting thing about the Masters of Cinema Fritz Lang releases is that many of them come dual-format, ie: a blu ray disc and a dvd disc. I usually swap out those two disc cases for stuff I want to keep two discs in since i really don’t need the dvd versions, so those cases can be useful sometimes if the art fits

I’m just excited that a fellow member has offered to hook me up with the full trilogy once ROTJ is done since I don’t have a Blu-Ray burner. Can’t wait for this. 😃

I also have the same dilemma. I’d pay for shipping if someone could burn these.

I am also in the same boat here in the U.S., if there’s anyone out there that could help me out that would be awesome.
