Did he use models for the space scenes in Star Trek 2009? If not, I imagine it'll be all CG for the space scenes in Episode VII too.

Droids could be more expensive in some ways, there's the cost of construction, maintance, fluids. I don't know how much that would add up to, but it's something to consider.
I don't think Lucas could have left out the clones without leaving loose ends. The clone wars were mentioned in the OT.
I don't think it's that bad that George Lucas didn't have everything in every movie planned out when he finished the first one. I don't think it would be that bad if Gene Rodenberry didn't have Star Trek TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise planned out 20+ years ahead of time.

Hacock was filmed in 4k resolution as a way to fight of bootleggers. So that could benifit from 4k resolution tv's if that bluray is ever released. Other than that I don't know if many hollywood films were filmed in 4k resolution.
I don't really notice the difference between standard definition movies and HD movies unless the movies are really in bad shape (aside from the black bars on the sides of the screen). I think DVD quality should be good enough for the OOT re-releases. You guys should save your money. If you guys keep demanding more and more re-mastered releases, you'll be spending money to get a 4K resolution version of the OOT released when those tv's become the standard.

If you lead right up to Episode IV, then how would you explain Han looking so different? Assuming he meets Luke shortly after landing on Tattooine.
To explain the different appearences there should probably be at least a few years between the spinoff and Episode Iv.

If he's going to a swamp tho, why would taking a light sabre be a priority? Besides, you didn't answer last time when I asked if you saw him with a light sabre when he got in his ship anyway. So for all we know he didn't have one.
Well, in a swamp all he would have is tree bark and stuff that nature provides. So he can't build a light sabre out of that probably. I dunno if he packed spare parts for a new light sabre in his little escape ship.
As for why Lukes light sabre still worked in the swamp.... It probably hadn't rusted out yet. Stay there long enough and maybe it would have.
Does the ROTS show Yoda leaving his light sabre behind or taking it with him? If he didn't take it with him that could be the reason he don't use one in V or VI. That or the thing stopped working due to the humidity and fog in the swamp. Or maybe it could have stopped working since it was 20 years since the last movie too.
So I take it in the EU Luke eventually stops using the light sabre so he can be a Jedi master? Does this imply that the sequel trilogy will no longer be canon here if Luke is seen with a light sabre?
So Yoda having a lightsabre is bad even though he is a Jedi? What is the reasoning in that? Isn't that one of the things they are trained on? It's one of the first things Obi Wan taught Luke.
If these spinoffs are direct to video, that means there might be more on location shots due to low budget. That is what some OT fans have wanted right?

Now the story that we're getting is there will be Boba Fett and Han Solo spinoff films. The Han Solo film would feature him before the first Star Wars. They didnt mention for sure when the Boba Fett film will take place. They said this time period means Darth Vader could be featured as a villian again.
