I propose this suggestion...
Time

Obviously I don’t expect this to actually happen, but wouldn’t it be a great solution to just create an invite only website dedicated to the same things as this current one, then invite all the members who haven’t yet proven themselves to be complete dicks or trolls. Then, if they do turn out to be dicks or trolls on this new website, give them one warning, and if they don’t listen, just ban them.

Leave this site to rot.

The "Name that Movie/TV Show I Can't Name" Thread
Time

I saw this movie a couple of months ago.

It started with some ship blowing up then this girl dying as a result, then later this assassin attempted to kill this other girl, but these two guys chased her through a street that looked like discount Blade Runner, then for some reason, this assassin turns into some kind of monster. Later the younger guy and the girl go to this lake somewhere and the guy says something about how he doesn’t like when sand gets in your eyes or something. At the end there was this big battle in a desert and for some reason they had dragged Christopher Lee into this and he had a swordfight with this lizard man who just jumped everywhere.

Can you guys help me out?

Revenge of the Sith (2005): 5/10

Captain America: Civil War (2016): 4/10

A mess of epic proportions. Thoughts listed in MCU thread.

I don’t even like superhero movies, but I am still willing to bet my life that this is the most inaccurate statement involving prequels since the New Yorker:

Actually, Revenge of the Sith triumphs Civil War in the following aspects:

-Colour pallette
-Visual asthetic
-Action
-Visual effects (I would have never thought that this would be the case)
-Pacing

So yes, I do feel that Revenge of the Sith is superior to Civil War. At least ROTS wasn’t boring (for me).

To be fair, I think that ROTS is inferior to most things, but I don’t mind it, mostly because of nostalgia.

Spectre (2015): 6/10

Pretty fun, I liked the campier tone, all the acting was good, story was pretty convuluted and the villain had terrible motivations (but was still very fun to watch and portayed excellently).

Revenge of the Sith (2005): 5/10

Definitely my favourite of the prequels, it’s at least entertaining to watch (at least for me) and has far better acting and dialogue than the first two prequels. The characters are all still pretty bland and the CGI is overused to hell, so it’s far from great.

The Evil Dead (1981): 8/10

I liked it slightly less than the other two, because all the female characters were idiots, and the tree rape scene went too far. Still absolutely great though.

Captain America: Civil War (2016): 4/10

A mess of epic proportions. Thoughts listed in MCU thread.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007): 2/10

Why must I torture myself? How this is getting 82% on RT is beyond me. Far too generous.

A Good Day to Die Hard (2013): 1/10

Why must I torture myself? How this is getting 14% on RT is beyond me. Far too generous.

Age of Ultron 8.5/10? Anything above 8 for me means it’s great, and I know for a fact that Age of Ultron is far from great.

My current ranking of the films of the MCU (sadly Civil War did not make it 6 out of thirteen good films):

  1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier: 8/10
  2. Iron Man: 7/10
  3. The Avengers: 7/10
  4. Iron Man Three: 7/10
  5. Guardians of the Galaxy: 6/10
  6. Ant-Man: 6/10
  7. Iron Man 2: 5/10
  8. Thor: The Dark World: 5/10
  9. Avengers: Age of Ultron: 4/10
  10. Captain America: Civil War: 4/10
  11. Captain America: The First Avenger: 4/10
  12. Thor: 4/10
  13. The Incredible Hulk: 3/10

Not exactly a sparkling track record.

Just watched Captain America: Civil War

What a mess.

Only two of the characters were in any way likable (Spider-Man and Black Panther), the music was so bland, the action was so over the top and silly, yet really boring. Ant-Man, Falcon, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Vision and War Machine were all thrown in for no reason and had nothing to do, no character arcs of any kind. Iron Man and Captain America were just doing the same shtick, Cap going through the exact same character arc from Winter Soldier, and Iron Man going through the same arc from Iron Man 3. Grossly, grossly overrated, it was the first time I’ve seen a superhero film in the cinemas and found it tedious to sit through.

A generous four out of ten.

From Russia with Love (1963): 7/10

It was pretty good, though the problematic pacing, bland villain and terrible love interest certainly brought things down. A lot of the movie also felt like filler.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984): 8/10

Hilariously racist, and Willie Scott was very annoying, but this film is just brilliant, with amazing practical effects, action scenes, and characters. Short Round was also a brilliant side-kick.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014): 8/10

This film, along with Spider-Man 2, are the only Marvel films I consider to be great. That said, the plot is a little muddy, and the villain (Alexander Pierce) didn’t have very good motivations.

Thunderball (1965): 5/10

The villain, the story, the love interest, the underwater shots, and the action scenes were all just rather boring. Although, Connery gave a top performance, and the film has first rate production design and music.

Quantum of Solace (2008): 5/10

It was certainly watchable, but after Casino Royale, “certainly watchable” isn’t good enough.
