OT Deleted Scenes Discussion

I'm happy too that most of those were cut although I agree that they should have cut to less ewoks and add more bunker/Falcon action. Jerjerrod's scenes were cool and very interesting but still, a little too much.

What I don't get is the people running and carrying guns on Falcon while fighting in space? Did they have to build the gunner stations? LOL

So are all the old docs original or have they messed with them, too?

They have been messed with over the years already. "The Making of Star Wars" had William Conrad's original narration inexplicably replaced with the voice of Don LaFontaine for the mid 1990's VHS release. (Don also voiced all the '97 SE trailers and commercials.) I'm going to be really annoyed if Conrad's voice isn't on there.

"SPFX: The Empire Strike Back" had some Disney movie clips cut for all known past home video releases. (Presumably they couldn't be cleared for home video.) This also affected some of Mark Hamill's narration. A 1980's U.K. broadcast recording posted to youtube proves I didn't hallucinate them. ;)

"Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi" has never been cut to the best of my knowledge. Hopefully, all the non SW clips have been cleared again.

I was aware on some of those already but what I really meant was that did they cut something out so it would match George's grand vision 2011. I don't remember what they had in them but if they talked about Luke's trilogy, 9 movie saga or that George doesn't know what's going to happen.

dark_jedi, any more thought given to uploading the new encodes? I've got v3 ready to burn, but I don't want to waste the discs if a even better version is coming.

Thanks,

ST

You may as well go ahead and burn them, I am only thinking about doing this, most may not want to, or know how to, swap out the video, plus I am not done yet with ESB, and I may go back and do a few more tweaks on SW and ROTJ, but just not 100% sure yet, so even if I did decide to do it, it is going to be a while before it is done.

I say go for it if it's not too much trouble. :)

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

I saw the boxes today in a store, they were still sitting under a service table waiting for Monday. I had to take a peek and the covers looked almost worse in person. The trilogy cover arts look already dated. Steve Anderson made that kind of art in the mid 00s, probably made these too and style hasn't changed a bit.

One thing that has surprised me is that there have been no TV spots advertising the Blu-ray set on TV here in the UK and it comes out on Monday.

I don't think I have seen any here in the US either now that you mention it.

That's funny because I have and I live in Finland! It has 3PO and R2 screwing around and then R2 puts the BDs playing.
