Blade Runner: The Version You've Never Seen Before (Update: Beta Released)

I hadn't thought of the whole Zhora/Leon thing, but that sounds like a good idea. One problem might be that the alternate edit of the sequence is not cut that way and might be tricky to lift the V.O--but I'll see how it goes.
One thing that this will do is make a very major and obvious continuity error--the number of replicants. Bryant says that including Rachel there is four--but theres only Pris and Batty left. I know some people might say "Deckards the fourth replicant!" but that makes no sense considering the context of that dialog (ie Deckard should be aware of the discrepancy). Did they accidentally film such a giantly obvious mistake like that and then the re-edit of the sequence order ended up correcting everything by accident? This whole thing is hard to make sense of.

Yeah they fixed the continuity error in the editing originally, but causes Deckard to have cuts on his face from the Leon encounter during the scene with Bryant. These have been removed digitally for the Final Cut though. It's talked about in the book Future Noir (see below):

Just before he's attacked by Leon, Deckard buys a bottle of Tsing-Tao (a Chinese alcoholic beverage) from a sidewalk bar. For some time, a cut on Ford's right cheekbone is clearly visible. Yet during Deckard's fight with Leon in the alley, this cut disappears (so does the bottle of Tsing-Tao). Moments later, however, both items are visible again!
....
What's the story behind Deckard's on-again, off-again wound? According to BR editor Terry Rawlings, this disappearing cut was a result of a post-production editorial decision. "The way that sequence was originally edited," Rawlings explains "it ran like this:
Deckard kills Zhora. He spots Rachael in the crowd and follows her. Leon pulls him into the alley, where Deckard receives his cut. Then Rachael kills Leon, and Deckard and Rachael walk back to the bar. Deckard buys his bottle of liquor. Gaff and Bryant appear, and they talk while Rachael waits on the other side of the street. Then they leave and Rachael starts walking away. Deckard follows her on the other side of the street.
"Now we decided part of that didn't make sense. Because after Deckard gets his drink and after the other two policemen leave, here he is walking down one side of the street while she's walking down the opposite one. Why wasn't she with him? Gaff and Bryant had left, so she should have come over. After all, she'd just saved Deckard's life.
"So all the reshuffling was done because it seemed more logical for Rachael to save Deckard's life and for Deckard to take her home with him. Ridley and I also felt for Deckard to go back and buy that bottle after Leon's death and to talk to the two policemen and chase after Rachael again really stopped the story. It played a little dull in the original cut, frankly"
...
"Re-editing this scene also saved us an embarrasing continuity error," Rawlings adds. "Because if we'd left Bryant saying there were four more replicants for Deckard to get, after he'd killed Leon, that wouldn't have made sense. Because there would have been only three to go--Batty, Pris and Rachael. I think that 'four to go' line was a hold-over referring to Mary, whose part had already been written out by the time we shot the alley fight. But by having Bryant say 'four to go' before he killed Leon, things made sense again. But none of us caught this error at the time--we were just lucky that we re-edited this scene for the reasons I've already stated."

Zombie I really like this idea

I have two suggestions though

Could you reorder the Post-Zhora scenes, so they are in the scripted order (always wanted to see this):
i.e.
(1) Zhora dies
(2) Deckard spots Rachael in the crowd, and follows her
(3) Deckard is caught and beaten up by Leon, but saved by Rachael
(4) Deckard goes to buy some liquor
(5) Deckard goes to talk with Bryant in the spinner

The original film sequence being 1,4,5,2,3 of course

Also the "nail through the hand" scene, should be placed after the "head through the bathroom wall" scene, for similar reasons. He gets the nail in the bathroom for one reason

Legend - Lost 125 min Director's cut (Released)
Time
Yeah Sean told me he put the article up a few weeks back, this was originally a list I sent Sean about 6/7 months ago. It's a lot more detailed because includes every little change.

Good to hear you still watch my edits. I actually prefer my extended edit over any official cuts now. It's a real shame that the alternate intro and faerie dance don't exist in good quality, as I think I would watch the workprint version more.

If you know where to look there is a new version out there with new menus and the sound has been upconverted to 5.1.

Yet another edit announcement !!

Conan the Destroyer: Serious Edition
This an attempt to make Conan the Destroyer (1984) a more serious movie. Conan the Barbarian (1982) was probably one of the finest fantasy films ever made. The sequel wasn't unfortunately, it was toned down to get a PG rating, and added too much humour in the process. Annoyingly Conan was given not just one sidekick, but three of them, and each has cringeworthy one-liners or silly moments. Also a whiny girl was added into the mix, and Conan is made more of an idiot.
What I have done is reduce the humour and jokes to the bare minimum. Removed much of the silly moments with Conan and deleted as much of the naive princess as possible. Other changes include removing a scene explaining the bad guys motives too early, an awful fireside drunk scene and the ending is much improved ending on a more sombre note. When the monster dies at the end, Conan now kills it before it collapses, making him seem more heroic. Altogether 18 minutes have been removed.

Specs:
- Anamorphic 2.35:1 PAL
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- 79 minutes
- Deleted footage extra

Have another edit announcement !!

Completed recently an edit of Re-Animator:

Many of which were extra character development scenes left on the cutting room floor, while the gore of the Unrated version was cut out. Unrated version is 86 mins and the R-rated version 95 minutes. This edit runs a total of 108 minutes, adding 22 minutes to the unrated cut. Includes the deleted dream sequence as an after credits bonus.

Specs:
- Anamorphic 1.85:1 NTSC
- Dolby Digital 2.0 (original mono track)
- 108 minutes

Currently working on completing my own three Alien edits:

Alien - Hybrid Cut
Extends the Theatrical Cut with all of the scenes from the Director's Cut, except unecessary shots of the Alien watching Brett and the Alien smacking Jones cage.
Restores other footage:
- an extended scene of Parker and Brett working while Ripley radios them
- a scene of Ash checking out x-rays of Kane before the crew members come back
- a scene of Ripley asking Lambert if she slept with Ash
The cocoon scene has been moved to before Ripley sets off the self-destruct sequence where it really belongs
Specs:
- Anamorphic 2.35:1 NTSC
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- Runtime: 126 minutes

Aliens - Hybrid Cut
This is the simplest cut of the lot, using the Special Edition version simply removes scenes of the colonists and Newt's family discovering the Space Jockey's ship. I actually like all the extended scenes in this version but dislike the whole Newt's family scene (I used to have to skip it every time).
I've kept the first outdoor shots of "Hadley's Hope" however as it gives a preview of the "shake and bake" colony.
Specs:
- Anamorphic 1.85:1 NTSC
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- Runtime: 150 minutes

Alien3 - Hybrid Cut
This is the most complex edit I did. The basic idea was to take the Assembly Cut and change the cow birth scenes into the dog birth scenes from the Theatrical Cut. And also restore the Alien Queen bursting out of Ripley in the finale.
Changes include (using the Assembly Cut as my base):
- Ripley is still rescued by Clemens, and kept shots of the prisoners heading out to the EEV with cows
- removed Andrews typing the details of the crash, and the alternative footage of the prisoners opening up the EEV and seeing what's inside
- restores Theatrical Cut footage of the same scene, but removes them finding Ripley in the EEV
- restores the dog barking at the facehugger
- kept the scene of one prisoner and Murphy discussing the dead cow (died innocently in this edit), I liked the macho talk about Ripley so left it in. It ends before the facehugger skin is discovered. This scene was moved from where it is in the Assembly edit
- Restored the Theatrical Cut scene of Murphy discovering his wounded dog
- Theatrical Cut footage of the dog birth scenes replacing the cow birth scenes
- Restored the tune Murphy sings in the Theatrical Cut and calling for his dog, before he dies
- Restores scene of David (Pete Postlethwaite) getting confused as to what to do "This was HER idea".
- Adds back shot of 85 wiping steam from the mirror while he waits for the rescue team
- Replaces Ripley's demise with the Theatrical Cut version of the Queen bursting out of her
Specs:
- Anamorphic 2.35:1 NTSC
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- Runtime: 147 minutes

New edit just recently finished

Frank Miller's Sin City - Recut Extended Unrated Theatrical Cut
Have taken the extended short stories and recut them in the same order as the theatrical cut to make a more fulfilling version
Notes: The final scene of That Yellow Bastard Part 1 is still Hartigan saying "fair trade" before cutting to the next story. The extended scene of the ambulances taking Hartigan are at the beginning of Part 2.

Specs:
- Anamorphic 1.85:1 NTSC
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- Runtime: 131 minutes
- Single Layer

This will get out there with more of my edits in the coming weeks
